  • OLEDB connection does not read data from excel sheet

    Hi All, i am getting a weird problem. i am using OLEDB for excel connection with connection string = Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=c:\Execute.xls;Extended Properties=Excel 8.0;"); excel file contains columns with string/integer values. the problem is that sometimes connection read values from sheet absolutly fine but sometimes it missed out some data values and shows them as System.DBNull. the behavior is very inconsistent. please help.

    My application is basically a shell which expects an input of type cmd [x], where cmd is constant and x is optional. So cmd 1 is legal as well as cmd by itself - then I assume a default parameter for x. I am doing this: char cmd[64]; scanf("%s", cmd); int arg; scanf("%d", &arg); // but this should be optional How can I read the integer parameter, and set it to a default if none is currently available in the prompt? I do not want the prompt to wait for additional input if it was not given in the original command. I tried several versions using fgetc() and getchar() and comparing them to EOF but to no avail. Each version I tried ends up waiting on that optional integer parameter.

  • iPhone / NSArray : How do I format a text file to be read in using arrayWithContentsOfFile

    I have several large word lists and I had been loading them in place in the code as follows: NSArray *dict3 = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:@"abled",@"about",@"above",@"absurd",@"absurdity", ... but now it is actually causing an exc_bad_access error weirdly, i know it seems implausible but for some reason IT IS causing it. (trust me on this I just spend the better part of a day debugging this crap) Anyway, I'm looking to get these humongous lines of code out of my files but I'm not sure what the best approach is. I guess I could do a plist but I need to figure out how to automate the process. it be easiest if I could just use the text files I've been compiling so if anyone knows how I can format the text file so that the myArray = [NSArray arrayWithContentsOfFile: @"myTextFile.txt"]; will be read in correctly as one word per element in the array it would really be appreciated.   • Excel File opened under Ubuntu, read by R, OpenOffice

    I have a bunch of Excel files which are updated on a daily basis on a Windows machine. I transfer them to a Ubuntu machine and want to open them there. Specifically, I want to read the files as a database under R. A couple years ago, I used ODBC under a Windows machine to open Excel files through R. Is there any way, I can do this with R under Ubuntu? I could make a database .ODB file for the corresponding XLS files using OpenOffice, but I don't know of a way to connect to a .ODB database. OpenOffice seems to have ways to connect TO databases, but no way to connect to ODB. Thanks for any potential solutions.

  • Cache for large read only database recommendation

    I am building site on with Spring, Hibernate and Mysql. The mysql database contains information on coordinates and locations etc, it is never updated only queried. The database contains 15000 rows of coordinates and 48000 rows of coordinate connections. Every time a request is processed, the application needs to read all these coordinates which is taking approx 3-4 seconds. I would like to set up a cache, to allow quick access to the data. I'm researching memcached at the moment, can you please advise if this would be my best option?

    Hello everyone One of my project is to download several large size files using ASIHTTPRequest in asynchronous mode. I hope to read the http returned header info to get the size of files. I know [request respsonseHeaders] (requestFinished: delegate method ) can do that. I tested and found that requestFinished: is only triggered when it completed the download of a whole single file. But I hope to access the function [request respsonseHeaders] before ASIHTTPRequest starting to download files (just when ASIHTTPRequest got the returned header info).     Some programs like ProcessExplorer are able to read strings in memory (for example, my error message written in the code could be displayed easily, even though it is compiled already). Imagine if I have a password string "123456" allocated sequentially in memory. What if hackers are able to get hold of the password typed by the user? Is there anyway to prevent strings from being seen so clearly? Oh yes, also, if I hash the password and sent it from client to server to compare the stored database hash value, won't the hacker be able to store the same hash and replay it to gain access to the user account? Is there anyway to prevent replaying? Thank You!

But I didn't figure out how to do this with OpenNetCF and mapitdotnet isn't available anymore on the sourceforge site (http://sourceforge.net/projects/mapidotnet/). I only found it on the svn directory, but there are no dlls.

    Is there any java libraries that is similar to unix's command file? ie: $ file somepicture.png somepicture.png PNG image, 805 x 292, 8-bit/color RGB, non-interlaced The file command is such a nice tool. I need something that can tell me if the file is really what I want it to be. (ie a picture, document etc) I know I can run the command file, but I am looking for a java library, not running the actual unix command.

    I want a certain file (only this!) to remove the php extension for calling it. BUT: It uses get parameters and they should remain! I tried it with my .htaccess and something like: RewriteEngine on followed by either RewriteRule ^file(.*)$ file.php$1 or RewriteRule ^file(.+)$ file.php$1 but it doesn't work. (First gives error 500, second gives 404) Example what I want to call in the browser: file?param=asd&foo=bar - It should call as: file.php?param=asd&foo=bar

  • Ruby: Read large data from stdout and stderr of an external process on Windows

    Greetings, all, I need to run a potentially long-running process from Ruby on Windows and subsequently capture and parse the data from the external process's standard output and error. A large amount of data can be sent to each, but I am only necessarily interested in one line at a time (not capturing and storing the whole of the output). After a bit of research, I found that the Open3 class would take care of executing the process and giving me IO objects connected to the process's standard output and error (via popen3). Open3.popen3("external-program.bat") do |stdin, out, err, thread| # Step3.profit() ? end However, I'm not sure how to continually read from both streams without blocking the program. Since calling IO#readlines on out or err when a lot of data has been sent results in a memory allocation error, I'm trying to continuously check both streams for available input, but not having much luck with any of my implementations. However, quite often I stuck with style decisions like: - should I return error code here, throw exceptions, return error through a parameter - should I have all this stuff in constructor or should I create separate init function for that. and so on. Any solutions WILL work. However, each of them has cons and pros, which I know and most importantly which I don't know. It would be very nice to read something regarding overall C++ development style, coding practices and so forth. What do you recommend?

  • Attaching catalog with SQL Authentication credentials attaches it as Read-Only

    Hello, As part of our product's installation process, a database is attached to the server. We use EXEC sp_attach_db in order to attach it to MSSQL. The problem occures when we try to attach it with "SQL Authentication" connection string - the database is attached to the server as read-only, thus preventing any write access from being performed This is driving us nuts... it's working just fine with Windows Authentication, and the only difference is the connection string... I tried googling for it but no mention for such a scenario is found. Any ideas anyone? It's important to mention that the MDF/LDF physical files are not set with "ReadOnly" attribute, so this is not the problem.
