  • PHP, MySQL - My own version of SALT (I call salty) - Login Issue

    Ok I wrote my own version of SALT I call it salty lol don't make fun of me.. Anyway the registration part of my script as follows is working 100% correctly. //generate SALTY my own version of SALT and I likes me salt.. lol function rand_string( $length ) { $chars = "ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuwxyz1234567890"; $size = strlen( $chars ); for( $i = 0; $i < $length; $i++ ) { $str .= $chars[ rand( 0, $size - 1 ) ]; } return $str; } $salty = rand_string( 256 ); //generate my extra salty pw $password = crypt('password'); $hash = $password . $salty; $newpass = $hash; //insert the data in the database include ('../../scripts/dbconnect.php'); //Update db record with my salty pw ;) // TESTED WITH AND WITHOUT SALTY //HENCE $password and $newpass mysql_query("UPDATE `Register` SET `Password` = '$password' WHERE `emailinput` = '$email'"); mysql_close($connect); However my LOGIN script is failing. I have it setup to TEST and echo if its login or not. It always returns FAILED. I entered the DB and changed the crypted salty pw to "TEST" and I got a SUCCESS. So my problem is somewhere in this LOGIN script I assume. Now I am not sure how to implement my $Salty in this. But also be advised that even without SALTY (just using crypt to store my pass) - I was still unable to perform a login successfully. And if you're gonna suggest i use blowfish - note that my webhost doesn't have it supported and i don't know how to install it. here's my login script: if (isset($_POST['formsubmitted'])) { include ('../../scripts/dbconnect.php'); $username = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['username']); $password = crypt(mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['password'])); $qry = "SELECT ID FROM Register WHERE emailinput='$username' AND Password='$password'"; $result = mysql_query($qry); if(mysql_num_rows($result) > 0) { echo 'SUCCESS'; //START SESSION } else { echo 'FAILED'; //YOU ARE NOT LOGGED IN } } So what's wrong with this login?     I have a Windows CE console application that's entry point looks like this int _tmain(int argc, _TCHAR* argv[]) I want to check the contents of argv[1] for "-s" convert argv[2] into an integer. I am having trouble narrowing the arguments or accessing them to test. I initially tried the following with little success if (argv[1] == L"-s") I also tried using the narrow function of wostringstream on each character but this crashed the application. Can anyone shed some light? Thanks

  • Documenting auto-generated code

    Hello, I use code-generation for my data access layer and Doxygen for documentation. My problem is that I can't add Xml comments on the generated classes since they will be overwritten as soon as I re-generate the code. To be more precise I can add Xml comments to my custom methods (which are in a separate file as partial classes) but I can't do it on data properties. Any suggestions?

    I've written an Html Helper called DetailsForm to reduce repetition when displaying fields in a view. Within a view - actually a partial view, ascx file - I can refer to it like this: Storyboard.Helpers.DetailsForm.LabelAndData(Html, m => m.id) But would like to refer to it like this: LabelAndData(Html, m => m.id) A 'using' directive doesn't seem to be allowed in the ascx file. Is there an equivalent?

  • Is possible to generate constant value during compilation?

    I would like my classes to be identified each type by an unique hash code. But I don't want these hashed to be generated every time a method, eg. int GetHashCode(), is invoked during runtime. I'd like to use already generated constants and I was hoping there is a way to make the compiler do some come computing and set these constants. Can it be done using templates? Could you give me some example, if it is possible.

  • Tuning garbage collections for low latency

    I'm looking for arguments as to how best to size the young generation (with respect to the old generation) in an environment where low latency is critical. My own testing tends to show that latency is lowest when the young generation is fairly large (eg. -XX:NewRatio <3), however I cannot reconcile this with the intuition that the larger the young generation the more time it should take to garbage collect. The application runs on linux, jdk 6 before update 14, i.e G1 not available.

At the moment I'm using Partial Classes with MetaData for adding the annotation (leaving intact the POCO auto generated). I thougt of an algorithm which doesn't need to allocate additional memory, instead i think it should be possible to do the job with element-swap operations.
