• Why do I receive an error when I open an Office 2010 Document from my NAS?

  I've installed the release to manufacture version of Office 2010 and I can't open documents stored on my Network Attached Storage device. I receive a generic error dialog stating some generic troubleshooting the first of which is related to permissions. I can't find the special checkbox of which I'm sure there is one, to allow word to open files from this file share.

  I have a process on my Mac OS X system which is in state E ("The process is trying to exit."): % ps auwwwxc | grep -si JavaApplicationS sbwoodside 84547 0.0 0.0 0 0 ?? E Mon12am 0:00.00 (JavaApplicationS) kill -9 84547 does nothing. Is there any special trick to get this process to exit? It's holding some ports open that I would like it to let go of.

  I like how Windows 7 (and Vista) have the convenient 'New Folder' button. Is it possible to have a similar 'New File' button. If it creates a file and then automatically triggers the renaming action so you can rename the file, that would be perfect. I know it is possible for certain file types to have special actions assigned, but not just for a generic directory.

Printing these labels is ok, but some of the label paper are quarter turned and the PDF are printed incorrectly. There is a possibility to rotate the page before printing. But is it possible to rotate a PDF file and save it again as a PDF file? And there are thousands of PDF files, is it also possible to do this is a batch program?

  I was always thought to use internal domain name (company.local or company.corp) for Active Directory instead of (company.com or company.pl). Recently we were thinking that by using external domain name we can get some advantages for stuff like certificates for Exchange, Sharepoint and alike where internal and external name would be exactly the same making it unnecessary to buy special certificates. • What is the netmask equivalent on the verision of route for the Mac

  In order to create some special routes for debugging I used the following command on my linux server: sudo route add -net 10.78.0.0 netmask 255.255.0.0 gw 10.101.1.1 which works, and sets up the routes I need. But when I run the same command on my Mac I get: route: bad address: netmask I'm guessing that the version of route that is included in OS X requires a different format but I'm at a loss to figure it out.

I was thinking about getting that service as a backup connection, but I am wondering if I do that if I can combine the bandwidth to basically double my up and down speed?   If my server is placed in PTP v2 enabled network which has grand master clock. And the switch is PTP aware. The server is W2008R2 (soon to be W2012). I also have PTP v2 software client. How does the master clock messages are getting on with Windows Server? Does it need special PTP-aware NIC or it will be treated as normal networking traffic and the software receives it through regular NIC no problem?

  I am a non-root user, and have made a directory into which other users in my group can write. The directory is setgid, so files and directories within it have the same group. I can delete files placed into this directory, but if a user creates a subdirectory with files in it, I can't seem to delete those. Is there something special I can do (other than, say, bothering the user in question or the sysadmin about it) to get rid of this subdirectory?

  I think the title is pretty self explanatory :) Is it possible, under RHEL (v 5) to install 2 instances of the same packages with 32 bit support for one and 64 bits support for the other one? Obviously, the running host has a 64 bit kernel and has the compatibility libraries required. (in this case, we would need a 64 bits JDK and a 32 bits one).
