    In older versions of Windows, it was just open the Control Panel, select the System applet, select the Advanced tab, and then hit the Environment variables button. As a normal user, you could edit the "User variables" but not the "System variables". In Windows Server 2008 R2, if I try to hit the Advanced System settings option in the System applet, it prompts for the Administrator password.

    Hi, I need a rule and condition to handle this scenario: User from US visits www.domain.com, domain.com, www.domain.com/ or domain.com/ this should be redirected to www.domain.com/usvisitor/ However, if a user from the US visits www.domain.com/anydirectory it will let them straight through without a redirection occurring. eg.     In my application, if the user saves a file to a folder they don't have permissions for, File.Copy will fail. An example is saving a document to the C:\ root. Instead of denying access, I'd like to prompt the user to elevate permissions with a UAC prompt, but only for this save function (not for the entire application). Is there a way to do this?

    I have a User Control for searching container numbers. If the user enters a container number that's new to the system then I want to tell the VM "I have a new record to add". The MVVM method avoids using Events to communicate with the VM as they create code-behind. Should I create a Dependency Property to trigger the VM but I don't think I've seen other controls with a "NewRecord" property? Any thoughts?

    Is there any method or plugin available that will alert the user to upgrade an app if the version they are using is not the latest? I suppose I could ping a web service to check what the current version is and compare with the user's version and go from there. As an aside, is there a way to check the current version of the app (some property I don't know about) or do you simply have to hardcode the version as some float variable or something? Thanks

    I have a grouped table view that does not need to scroll. I'd like each cell to highlight as the user moves their finger down the screen and call didSelectRowAtIndexPath on release. This behaviour can be seen done by apple in 'settings mail add account'? I can't seem to replicate it myself, all I can get is the default, where the cell deselects as soon as the user moves their finger.

  • User control disapear when added to a Panel

    I've got a user control class that works fine, drawing, events firing and the works. When i programmaticly add it to a class that extends from Panel it disapears. I've checked around and the line that makes it disapear is the line where i go panel.Controls.Add(myuserControl). Without that line the control works just fine, does anybody know why it won't show after the add? I'm currently doing the painting of the user control by overriding OnPaint, but the panel is using the default painting.
