    I wonder what is the safest way to subtract two System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.FILETIME objects? I used the following code but sometimes it gives me ArithmaticOverflow exception due to the negative number in Low 32-bit values. I am not sure enclosing the body with unchecked will serve the purpose or not.   • Debugging in visual studio 2008 freezes entire system

    Any time i try to debug in visual studio 2008 my entire system will freeze whenever a breakpoint is hit. I can move the mouse around and that remains responsive but nothing i click on does anything, I can bring up the task manager but can't do anything with it and i am able to lock/unlock the machine. I tried a fix that i found via google that suggested i disable advanced text services but it didn't work. I am using visual studio 2008 with SP1 running on Windows XP Pro, asking here is my last hope before formating/reinstalling so i hope someone can help me out. I debug by running the application in debug mode, the freeze happens no matter what the project size and it seems as if it is just the entire GUI that freezes, the computer carries on working just fine i just can't do anything with it because the GUI is totaly unresponsive.

  • What's going on with my server? High load, lots of idle CPU time, low disk utilization

    I run a web site and send a legitimate opt-in, daily email newsletter to subscribers. Both the web hosting and email sending are done by the same machine. I have about 100,000 subscribers who have opted in to my daily email newsletter. My PHP script did a pretty good job sending mail to all of them until fairly recently, but as the list has grown I can't keep up. When I run top, I have very high load--usually at least 6 or 7, sometimes as high as 15--even though I only have two CPUs. However, when I run sar, my CPU is idle an average of about 30% of the time. So, it seems I'm not CPU bound. When I run iostat, it seems as though I'm not disk bound because my %util for each device is very low (no more than 5%). Given that I don't seem to be CPU bound or disk bound, why is top reporting such high load? Additionally, since I don't seem to be CPU bound or disk bound, why is my email sending script not able to keep up?     I am getting different value for TimeZone.getDefault().getID() on different systems. For example, in case of Indian standard time, On one of the system we are getting "GMT+5:30": while on another we are getting "Asia/Calcutta". We are expected to get "Asia/calcutta" strings on all machines. Why is there an inconsistency for such behavior? Is there any way to get consistent behavior across different systems windows/MAC? What is the best way to get client time zone programmatically using Java?

  • MultiOS "Jet Database" for C++/Qt?

    Hopefully I can articulate this well: I'm porting an application I made years ago from VB6 (I know, I know!) to C++/Qt. In my original application, one thing I liked was that I didn't need an actual SQL server running, I could just use MS Access .mdb files. I was wondering if something similar exists for Qt that will work on multiple OSes - a database stored in a file, pretty much, but that I can still run SQL queries with. Not sure if something like this exists or not, but any help appreciated, thanks!

    I have installed TFS 2010 using the Scrum for Team System v3. The work item templates want you to enter a Project Backlog Item that includes story points, then you need to add linked tasks as a child of the PBI. It is at the task level where you can assign team individuals, update estimated hours left, etc. What is the importance of the Story Points used at the PBI item if individual tasks are using hours? Has anyone customized this template so that the child work item tasks use story point burn downs instead of hours? Also, I would be nice to have the total number of story points from each individual task roll up into the PBI item as a read only field for total story points. Thanks for your time.

    Hello I am using ibatis and C#. i get a result from a select query that has CreatedDate as one of the field. The Datatype of CreatedDate in Mysql is Date. I assign the result set of the select query to a Ilist< DeliveryClass **. Here the DeliveryClass CreatedDate as DateTime. When i run the application, i get **Unable to convert MySQL date/time value to System.DateTime. What could be the problem?

    I would like to calculate the "size on disk" of a file in Python. Therefore I would like to determine the cluster size of the file system where the file is stored. How do I determine the cluster size in Python? Or another built-in method that calculates the "size on disk" will also work. I looked at os.path.getsize but it returns the file size in bytes, not taking the FS's block size into consideration. I am hoping that this can be done in an OS independent way...

    NOOB trying to make my code more efficient. On scroll button push, the function 'SetName' stores a number to integer 'iName' which is index against 5 names stored in memory. If a name is not set in memeory, it skips to the next. The code works, but takes up a lot of room. Any advice appreciated.   • Debug Linux kernel pre-decompression stage

    I am trying to use GDB to debug a Linux kernel zImage before it is decompressed. The kernel is running on an ARM target and I have a JTAG debugger connected to it with a GDB server stub. The target has to load a boot loader. The boot loader reads the kernel image from flash and puts it in RAM at 0x20008000, then branches to that location. I have started GDB and connected to the remote target, then I use GDB's add-symbol-file command like so: add-symbol-file arch/arm/boot/compressed/vmlinux 0x20008000 -readnow When I set a breakpoint for that address, it does trap at the correct place - right when it branches to the kernel. However, GDB shows the wrong line from the source of arch/arm/boot/compressed/head.S. It's 4 lines behind. How can I fix this? I also have tried adding the -s section addr option to add-symbol-file with -s .start 0x20008000; this results in exactly the same problem.

I am trying to sort out something as simple as an led blinker, set the led, count to N clear the led, count to N, loop forever. Sure I can disassemble a 10 line XC program, but if you have tried that you will see there is a lot of bloat in there that is in every program, what bits are to support the compiler output and what bits are actually setting up the gpio?

Everything works fine except when I try to open the file in gedit (linux), it says it can't identify the character encoding. Notepad (on windows) opens the file just fine.
