• Using Maven to build JAR from source in Subversion trunk

  There's a Java library that I would like to use in my project. My project uses Maven to pull in dependencies and it works great for everything except this one library. The problem is, this library never has releases. The author maintains the source in a Subversion repository and only makes changes in trunk. Is there a way I can tell Maven to Update (or check out) the library's source tree from Subversion Build it according to its POM Use the resulting jar as a dependency for this project Do this regularly (possibly at each build) For bonus points, mark which Subversion revision of that library I want to use Thanks!

• What happens if a message is rolled back in MQ?

  Hi, I receive a message from a WebSPhere MQ queue. I try to process and if i receive some exceptions i want to rollback the message to the MQ Queue. I have no problems in doing the same. What happens to the message? Does it go to the bottom of the queue? If i try and pull a message from the queue would i receive the same message that i rolledback? What is the behaviour likely to be? I want to know this behaviour typically in a high volume Queue scenario? Appreciate any inputs. Thanks, Manglu

• What is a good format for command line output when it is being used for further processing?

  I have written a console application in Delphi that queries information from several locations. This application will be launched by another process, and the output to STDOUT will be captured by the launching process. The information I am retrieving is to be interpreted by the calling application for reporting purposes. What is the best way to output this data to STDOUT so that it can be easily parsed? JSON? XML? CSV? The data, specifically, is remote workstation information, so it will pull things back like running processes, and details about each process. Does anyone have any experience with this or suggestions?

  Hi, I'm working on a small academic research about extremely long and complicated functions in the Linux kernel. I'm trying to figure out if there is a good reason to write 600 or 800 lines-long functions. For that purpose, I would like to find a tool that can extract a function from a .c file, so I can run some automated tests on the function. For example, If I have the function cifs_parse_mount_options() within the file connect.c, I'm seeking a solution that would roughly work like: extract /fs/cifs/connect.c cifs_parse_mount_options and return the 523 lines of code(!) of the function, from the opening braces to the closing braces. Of course, any way of manipulating existing software packages like gcc to do that, would be most helpful too. • Perl Regex Mismatch Issue

  This is a really basic regex question but since I can't seem to figure out why the match is failing in certain circumstances I figured I'd post it to see if anyone else can point out what I'm missing. I'm trying to pull out the 2 sets of digits from strings of the form: 12309123098_102938120938120938 1321312_103810312032123 123123123_10983094854905490 38293827_1293120938129308 I'm using the following code to process each string: if($string && $string =~ /^(\d)+_(\d)+$/) { if(IsInteger($1) && IsInteger($2)) { print "success ('$1','$2')"; } else { print "fail"; } } Where the IsInterger() function is as follows: sub IsInteger { my $integer = shift; if($integer && $integer =~ /^\d+$/) { return 1; } return; } This function seems to work most of the time but fails on the following for some reason: 1287123437_1268098784380 1287123437_1267589971660 Any ideas on why these fail while others succeed? • An MP3 parser to extract numbered frames?

  I am writing a streaming application for MP3 (CBR). It is all passthru, meaning I don't have to decode/encode, I just need to pass on the data as I see it come through. I want to be able to count the MP3 frames as they passthru (and some other stuff like throughput calculations). According to the MP3 frame header spec, the sync word appears to be 11 bits of 1s, however I notice (naturally) that the frame payload which I should safely assume to be binary and thus it is not odd at all to see 11 1s in sequence. My questions: Is there a Unix/Linux MP3 parser utility (dd-style) that can pull numbered frames from an MP3 file/pipe? Any perl wisdom here? How does one delineate an MP3 header block from any other binary payload data? and lastly: Is a constant bitrate (CBR) MP3 defined by payload bytes or are the header bytes included in the aggregate # of bytes/bits per any given timeslice? • How can I receive messages using over http without MSMQ

  I need a reliable messaging framework that runs over http/https (due to client security requirements) and that doesn't use MSMQ (because some clients will use Windows XP Home). The clients only need to be able to receive messages, not send them. We already have a message queue on the server for each user, and the receivers have been getting messages by connecting to an HttpHandler on the server and getting a Stream from WebResponse.GetResponseStream() We keep this stream open, and pull messages off of it using Stream.Read(). This MOSTLY works, but Stream.Read() is a blocking call, and we can't reliably interrupt it. We need to be able to stop and start the receiver without losing messages, but the old stream often hangs around, even after we call Thread.Abort on its thread. Any suggestions?

• How can I view javadocs that have been added to a maven repository?

  I know I can use maven to pull the javadocs for an artifact (if they've been added), which should come through as a JAR (right?), which I can then unpack and browse. My problem is, I'm trying to figure out which of a series of artifacts have the particular package I'm hunting for. I could download a half-dozen javadoc packages, unpack all of them, then open the index files one at a time, but that sounds like it would be pretty unpleasant. There must be a better way! I noticed that Nexus supports javadoc artifact browsing, but apparently only in the Pro version (which we do not have, and are unlikely to get any time soon). I'd prefer a GUI solution, though I'd settle for a command line answer, provided it's something along the lines of showmethedocs groupId:artifactId [version].

• Using microsoft report viewer with objects

  Ive got some nested objects that I am trying to generate reports for. A BackupClient contains BackupVersions and BackupVersions contain BackupFiles. I passed in the list of BackupClients - and the report displays the client name, etc.... but to display the versions - It says I have to have a Binding Source for BackupVersions. If I pull all of the versions out of the clients and put them in a different BindingSource, then my data is no longer together - how is the report viewer going to list the versions for client X - if I just have a binding source with ALL clients versions in it?

• (Windows) How to lock all applications (explorer, task manager etc.) and make only the browser activ

  I'm trying to run only the browser in the system - locking access to everything else. Only the supervisor can resume the normal functioning of the system after giving a password. This kind of activity is usually done by virus. Disabling the registry for Task manager etc. Does anyone know of any source available that does this? I might be able to pull it off in Windows XP. But have anyone tried this in Windows 7 ? The aim is to to emulate the Chrome OS on Windows. Only the browser. Nothing else.

• Accessing WordPress categories from outside

  So, I have a client that needs all the categories from their blog to be displayed on their homepage. The WordPress blog is in its own directory, /blog. I have tried the following code (taken from a tutorial, I changed the path to fit clients site): <?php // Include WordPress define('WP_USE_THEMES', false); require('blog/wp-load.php'); query_posts('showposts=1'); ?> But this code just redirects me to the install file of WordPress (it actually wrongly redirects me). It goes to http://www.site.com/wp-admin/install.php instead of http://www.site.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php. Is there a better way than this method? I would pull in the categories from the database table, but I do not currently have access. Thanks!

• InfoPath Getting SharePoint Group Information

  I have an InfoPath form embedded in an aspx page on a SharePoint site. How do I bind the SharePoint user groups to a drop-down list on my form? What I've tried so far is to create a data connection to a web service (method GetGroupCollectionFromWeb) to pull the data. Next, I open the list box properties, select "Look up values from an external data source", select the data source, assign the entries, and I get the following error: "You must select a repeating group or field." What I don't understand is that since the method I am calling is called GetGroupCollectionFromWeb, isn't the return value a collection? And aren't collections repeating by definition? What am I missing, and is there a workaround? Thank you.

Suggestions? I have tried preg_replace but can't seem to get my expression right.

  Hi all, In my application, I need to add this functionality that there should be an arrow image upside down placed before first cell and some text like "Pull down to refresh" and when user pulls the table beyond this then this arrow gets inverted and text changes to "Release to refresh" and when the user releases his finger, the data is refreshed and rows get added to that point So now this initial arrow and text moves upwards before the first cell again. Can anybody tell me wheather there's any event that does this? Or else which event I need to capture in order to add this functionality? Thanks in advance.

• Looking for alternatives to the database project.

  I've a fairly large database project which contains nine databases and one database with a fairly large schema. This project takes a large amount of time to build and I'm about to pull my hair out. We'd like to keep our database source controlled, but having a hard getting the other devs to use the project and build the database project before checking in just because it takes so long to build. It is seriously crippling our work so I'm look for alternatives. Maybe something can be done with Redgate's SQL Compare? I think maybe the only drawback here is that it doesn't validate syntax? Anyone's thoughts/suggestions would be most appreciated.

The only problem is the build agents don't have groovy and grails installed (don't ask why) I want to package my app with Groovy and Grails directories and check in Git. Is there some place I can make the versions available for download. Another thing about this framework is that I bring out additional components for the framework. These also have different versions. Reading the related questions i find an interesting reference to [VERP]2. Under the heading 'Software that supports VERP i find that IIS is not on the list. Does that mean i need to find a library to integrate into my store's assembly? • Is there a SaaS for logging user activity?

  In almost every app that I build I create some kind of user log table to log various activities that my actual USERS (not visitors, but someone with an account) perform on the site. This is primarily used for customer service issues to allow me to pull up a record of the pages and actions that a user has visited. The downside to this is the size of the UserLogs table. It gets immense. I'm not sure if it is common practice or not for others to log INDIVIDUAL (not aggregate like Google Analytics) user behavior to a database, but if it is I'm wondering if any form of a SaaS exists to help offload this task? I essentially need a RESTful API that lets me store and retrieve individual user activity quickly and securely. Anyone know of any or am I the only one who has this issue?

• Sharing a fabfile across multiple projects

  Fabric has become my deployment tool of choice both for deploying Django projects and for initially configuring Ubuntu slices. However, my current workflow with Fabric isn't very DRY, as I find myself: copying the fabfile.py from one Django project to another and modifying the fabfile.py as needed for each project (e.g., changing the webserver_restart task from Apache to Nginx, configuring the host and SSH port, etc.). One advantage of this workflow is that the fabfile.py becomes part of my Git repository, so between the fabfile.py and the pip requirements.txt, I have a recreateable virtualenv and deployment process. I want to keep this advantage, while becoming more DRY. It seems that I could improve my workflow by: being able to pip install the common tasks defined in the fabfile.py and having a fab_config file containing the host configuration information for each project and overriding any tasks as needed Any recommendations on how to increase the DRYness of my Fabric workflow?
