  • php script gets two ajax requests, only returns one?

    - by Dan.StackOverflow
I'll start from the beginning. I'm building a wordpress plugin that does double duty, in that it can be inserted in to a post via a shortcode, or added as a sidebar widget. All it does is output some js to make jquery.post requests to a local php file. The local php file makes a request to a webservice for some data. (I had to do it this way instead of directly querying the web service with jquery.ajax because the url contains a license key that would be public if put in the js). Anyway, When I am viewing a page in the wordpress blog that has both the sidebar widget and the plugin output via shortcode only one of the requests work. I mean it works in that it gets a response back from the php script. Once the page is loaded they both work normally when manually told to. Webpage view - send 2 post requests to my php script - both elements should be filed in, but only one is. My php script is just: <?php if(isset($_POST["zip"])) { // build a curl object, execute the request, // and basically just echo what the curl request returns. } ?> Pretty basic. here is some js some people wanted to see: function widget_getActivities( zip ){ jQuery("#widget_active_list").text(""); jQuery.post("http://localhost/wordpress/wp-content/ActiveAjax.php", { zip: zip}, function(text) { jQuery(text).find("asset").each(function(j, aval){ var html = ""; html += "<a href='" + jQuery(aval).find("trackback").text() + "' target='new'> " + jQuery(aval).find("assetName").text() + "</a><b> at </b>"; jQuery("location", aval).each(function(i, val){ html += jQuery("locationName", val).text() + " <b> on </b>"; }); jQuery("date", aval).each(function(){ html += jQuery("startDate", aval).text(); <!--jQuery("#widget_active_list").append("<div id='ActivityEntry'>" + html + " </div>");--> jQuery("#widget_active_list") .append(jQuery("<div>") .addClass("widget_ActivityEntry") .html(html) .bind("mouseenter", function(){ jQuery(this).animate({ fontSize: "20px", lineHeight: "1.2em" }, 50); }) .bind("mouseleave", function(){ jQuery(this).animate({ fontSize: "10px", lineHeight: "1.2em" }, 50); }) ); }); }); }); } Now imagine there is another function identical to this one except everything that is prepended with 'widget_' isn't prepended. These two functions get called separately via: jQuery(document).ready(function(){ w_zip = jQuery("#widget_zip").val(); widget_getActivities( w_zip ); jQuery("#widget_updateZipLink").click(function() { //start function when any update link is clicked widget_c_zip = jQuery("#widget_zip").val(); if (undefined == widget_c_zip || widget_c_zip == "" || widget_c_zip.length != 5) jQuery("#widget_zipError").text("Bad zip code"); else widget_getActivities( widget_c_zip ); }); }) I can see in my apache logs that both requests are being made. I'm guessing it is some sort of race condition but that doesn't make ANY sense. I'm new to all this, any ideas? EDIT: I've come up with a sub-optimal solution. I have my widget detect if the plugin is also being used on the page, and if so it waits for 3 seconds before performing the request. But I have a feeling this same thing is going to happen if multiple clients perform a page request at the same time that triggers one of the requests to my php script, because I believe the problem is in the php script, which is scary.

  • SimpleModal plugin is causing jQuery conflict with Spring DWR

    - by DS
Hi, I'm using SimpleModal plugin (http://www.ericmmartin.com/projects/simplemodal/) for generating a simple modal dialog. Now the application I'm using this in had some previous code that uses Spring MVC - DWR Ajax framework. I believe it uses jQuery internally. Now when I include the jQuery file in this project and use the plugin, the plugin works fine but it is breaking the existing AJAX implementations in the project (which I assume is because I'm including the jQuery file again.) How do I resolve this conflict?

  • Visual Studio 2010 including old version of jquery

    - by icemanind
When I create a new ASP.NET project in Visual Studio 2010, it creates the scripts directory, like it should, however the version of JQuery it sticks under the scripts directory is an old version of JQuery. Version 1.36 I believe. How can I update this so that Visual Studio 2010 will include the newest version of jquery? I know I can remove it and manually add it, but I don't want to have to do this everytime I create a new project.

  • JQuery not working.

    - by Shantanu Gupta
I am trying to implement JQuery in my web page but i am not been able to implement it successfully. I have a master page where i added one script for menu bar that is already using jquery hosted by Google This is coded in master page itself <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.0/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $('#ddmenu > li').bind('mouseover', ddmenu_open) $('#ddmenu > li').bind('mouseout', ddmenu_timer) }); document.onclick = ddmenu_close; // ]]> </script> Now i want to implement a Jquery to set the css visibility property to true or false. into my content page of same master page. <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $("#lnkAddMore").click(function(){ alert(); } ); }); </script> This html control is under my UpdatePanel. I dont know why it is not working ? I am using this control under UpdatePanel. <input type="button" id="lnkAddMore" value="Add More" /> I tried to use it outside my update panel it is running successfully but not in UpdatePanel I think there is a problem using it with an UpdatePanel

  • JW Player: cross-browser "display:none" player behavior

    - by two7s_clash
Is there a simple, upfront method to have FF and IE treat hidden JW Players the same? I am placing different instances of the player dynamically in jQuery generated tabs. In effect, switching tabs hides the parent div of each player. In FireFox, the tab switch and accompanying "display" change stops the player. This doesn't happen in IE. I would like it to. What is the easiest way to have both browsers act the same? I am hoping for a CSS/HTML solution, either thorough the way the players are embedded or a style rule Otherwise I suppose I will need to add an item listener that compares the currently selected tab id to currently active players... but I'd rather not go that route. Thanks for your tips! EDIT: So, I'd rather be able to change the player CSS or markup on tab change than send stop events to all the players but the player in the currently active tab.

  • Is there a jQuery webscraper out there?

    - by victor hugo
I'm trying to pullout some info from an external site using jQuery and Adobe AIR. Right now I'm using a hidden div and jQuery's load function to load fragments of the external site, once the info is loaded I parse some info with selectors. This is fine but it's kinda dirty and I need to perform this several times (don't want to need many hidden divs). Just wondering if anybody knows a good webscrapper written in jQuery or maybe another method I'm missing

  • hover effect jQuery

    - by Ori Cohen
I have a bunch of li elements that I want to alternate in color using odds and evens, and then highlight based on mouse hover. In order to un-highlight I need to keep track of what the color used to be, odd or even. To do this when I apply the highlight color, I first set an arbitrary attribute to it. Are there any downsides to doing it this way? Is there a better way? Here's the code: <script type="text/javascript"> var init = function(event){ $("li:odd").css({'background-color' : '#eeeeee', 'font-weight' : 'bold'}); $("li:even").css('background-color', '#cccccc'); //initial colors setup $("li").hover( function () //hover over { var current = $(this); current.attr('old-background', current.css('background-color')); current.css('background-color', '#ffee99'); } , function() //hover out { var current = $(this); current.css('background-color', current.attr('old-background')); }) } $(document).ready(init); </script> So is there a better way to do this?

  • WCF REST with jQuery AJAX - removing/working around same origin policy

    - by csauve
So I'm trying to create a C# WCF REST service that is called by jQuery. I've discovered that jQuery requires that AJAX calls are made under the same origin policy. I have a few questions for how I might proceed. I am already aware of; 1. The hacky solution of JSONP with a server callback 2. The way too much server overhead of having a cross-domain proxy. 3. Using Flash in the browser to make the call and setting up crossdomain.xml at my WCF server root. I'd rather not use these because; 1. I don't want to use JSON, or at least I don't want to be restricted to using it 2. I would like to separate the server that serves static pages from the one that serves application state. 3. Flash in this day in age is out of the question. What I'm thinking: is there anything like Flash's crossdomain.xml file that works for jQuery? Is this "same-origin" policy a part of jQuery or is it a restriction in specific browsers? If it's just a part of jQuery, maybe I'll try digging in the code to work around it.

  • Safari wrapping too early

    - by the Hampster
I've created a class web page with a page for midterm review. It uses jsMath to turn Tex into nice math. (MathML looks awful) Anyway, I would occasionally like to have several problems per line. Each problem is in its own <span>, so if it needs to wrap, it won't split the problem. It all seems to work, except that Safari for the Mac seems overly anxious to wrap, sometimes wrapping at 30% paragraph width. Even under inspection, it reports a width of 663px, but wrapping occurs at around 150px. There is no padding. Firefox renders just fine. A comparison is here: http://davehampson.net/Images/Safaribug.png Sometimes Safari works just fine. The original web page is here: http://math.davehampson.net/index3.php (study guide 2) I don't know if this is a bug in safari, or if there is some odd/subtle css point I am missing. Any help would be appreciated. --Dave

  • How to embed multiple jQuery line of code in custom HtmlHelpers ASP.NET MVC

    - by embarus
I 've tried to create my own HTML Helper which work fine for my need but I can't embed many lines of jQuery code in my extension HtmlHelpers class. I've tried @ literal for jQuery code I doesn't work or I need to escape every line of code that I thing I not good for multiple line of code. I don't know if there is another way to achieve this problem like << Therefore, I need to include jQuery plugin file and put implement script after HTML tag. I find it would be convenience if I could put every in HTML helper and put a single line of code in aspx page for example <%= Html.ParentChildSelectList(string parentName, string childName, IEnumerable parentViewData, IEnumerable childViewData, int parentSize, in childSize) % The following code is the way that I used now. the .aspx page Category model.CategoryID)% , new { size = 10 })% model.SubcategoryID,"subcategory") % model.SubcategoryID)% , new { size = 10 })% <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery.sarapadchang.parentChildSelectList( { parentId : "CategoryID" , childId : "SubcategoryID", actionName : "GetSubcategoryList", controllerName : "Json" } ); </script> I put in head tag to include ParentChildSelectList.js the following code for ParentChildSelectList.js (function($) { $.sarapadchang = { parentChildSelectList: function(options) { // $("#CategoryID option").click(function() $("#" + options.parentId).find("option").click(function() { $("#" + options.childId).empty(); //clear data $("#" + options.childId).append('<option>loading...</option>'); $.post("/" + options.controllerName + "/" + options.actionName + "/" + $(this).attr('value'), "", function(data) { var html = ""; $.each(data, function(index, entry) { html += '<option value="' + entry['Value'] + '">' + entry['Text'] + '</option>'; } ); $("#" + options.childId).empty() $("#" + options.childId).append(html); }, "json"); //end getJson }); })(jQuery); To illustrate you, I've attached simple solution, please follow this link. http://www.thaileaguefc.net/ParentChildSelectList.rar Please accept my apologies if my English is difficult to understand. I am looking forward to hearing from you. Your faithfully, Theeranit

  • How to Include Multiple Javascript Files in .NET (Like they do in rails)

    - by Kyle West
    I'm jealous of the rails guys. They can do this: <%= javascript_include_tag "all_min" %> ... and I'm stuck doing this: <script src="/public/javascript/jquery/jquery.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="/public/javascript/jquery/jquery.tablesorter.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="/public/javascript/jquery/jquery.tablehover.pack.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="/public/javascript/jquery/jquery.validate.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="/public/javascript/jquery/jquery.form.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="/public/javascript/jquery/application.js" type="text/javascript"></script> Are there any libraries to compress, gzip and combine multiple js files? How about CSS files?

  • How can I fix the website's splash page to work in IE8 and below?

    - by Abriel
    I have been trying to figure out for the longest time how I can get the splash page on this website to work correctly in IE8 and below? Right now, it works on all the other browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Safari). Here is the website: http://gds.parkland.edu/student/fall10/gds220/ashipley/p2/final_revised/index.html jQuery code: /* Sliding Affect Splash Page */ $(function() { $('.box').each(function() { var $this = $(this); $.data(this, 'css', { width: $this.css('width'), background: $this.css('background-image') }); }); }); function restore() { $('.box').each(function() { var orig = $.data(this, 'css'); $(this).animate({ width: orig.width },{queue:false}); $(this).css({backgroundImage: orig.background}); }); } /* box 1 */ function boxHover(){ $('.box').stop().animate({'width' : '596px'},{queue:false}); } function box1master(){ $('.box2').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/zatgun_midtop.jpg)'}); $('.box3').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/zatgun_midbottom.jpg)'}); $('.box4').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/zatgun_bottom.jpg)'}); } function box2master(){ $('.box1').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/bryan_top.jpg)'}); $('.box3').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/bryan_midbottom.jpg)'}); $('.box4').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/bryan_bottom.jpg)'}); } function box3master(){ $('.box1').css({backgroundImage:'url(images/splash/galleries_top.jpg)'}); $('.box2').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/galleries_midtop.jpg)'}); $('.box4').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/galleries_bottom.jpg)'}); } function box4master(){ $('.box1').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/contact_top.jpg)'}); $('.box2').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/contact_midtop.jpg)'}); $('.box3').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/contact_midbottom.jpg)'}); } $(document).ready(function(){ $('.box1').hover(function(){ boxHover(); box1master(); }, function(){ restore(); }); $('.box2').hover(function(){ boxHover(); box2master(); }, function(){ restore(); }); $('.box3').hover(function(){ boxHover(); box3master(); }, function(){ restore(); }); $('.box4').hover(function(){ boxHover(); box4master(); }, function(){ restore(); }); }); I wonder if I could change the spacing in-between each of the boxes using jQuery or if I somehow have to do this in the CSS/HTML?

  • Get a JQuery function to execute after and independently of onLoad

    - by lewicki
    Is is possible to execute a JQuery function by injecting it into the page? IT CAN'T be attached to the .ready function. The reason is that the user will be uploading an image via iframe. I need JCrop to execute after I display the uploaded image. echo "<script>$('#pictures_step1_right_bottom1', window.parent.document).html('<img id=\"cropbox\" src=\"../../box/" . 'THM' . $filenameAlt . '.jpg' . "\">');</script>"; echo "<script>jQuery(function(){jQuery('#cropbox').Jcrop();});</script>"; This is executed in the iframe that is processing the image. it then sends it to the main page. This does not work however. EDIT: Ended up running a timer: function checkPic() { if($('#cropbox1').length != 0) { jQuery(function() { jQuery('#cropbox1').Jcrop(); }); } timer(); // Check size again after 1 second } function timer(){ var myTimer = setTimeout('checkPic()', 3000); // Check size every 1 second}

  • Debugging nth-child selector

    - by Ross
I have the following selectors: .progress:nth-child(3n+1) { background: teal; } .progress:nth-child(3n+2) { background: red; } .progress:nth-child(3n+3) { background: blue; } However all of the items end up with a teal background. Are these selectors correct? I'm thinking I should get: Teal (every 3, starting with 1) Red (every 3, starting with 2) Blue (every 3, starting with 3) etc. I've tested on Firefox 3.5.8 and Opera 10.10 on Ubuntu. Also tested with nothing but these rules in the CSS. I'm using the YUI Reset stylesheet but excluding it does nothing.

  • HTML overlay height to cover entire visible page

    - by Evgeny
I have a web page that loads some stuff using AJAX. I want to display an overlay with a loading indicator while the loading is in progress, so that the user cannot interact with most of the page - except the menu at the top. I'm using jQuery and the jQuery BlockUI plugin to do this. I call $(element).block() and it works fine, but the overlay only extends as far down as the current content of my page. As more content is loaded and added to the page the overlay moves down with it and this looks a bit ugly. Ideally I'd like it to cover the entire visible area of the page right from the start. A simple hack for doing this would be to set a large height value for the overlay, like this: $(myElement).block({ overlayCSS: { height: '10000px' } }); ... but this creates a scrollbar! How do I avoid this and make it just the right height to cover the visible page, but not enlarge it?
