  • Javascript (and HTML rendering) engine without a GUI for automation?

    Are there any libraries or frameworks that provide the functionality of a browser, but do not need to actually render physically onto the screen? I want to automate navigation on web pages (Mechanize does this, for example), but I want the full browser experience, including Javascript. Thus, I'd like to have a virtual browser of some sort, that I can use to "click on links" programmatically, have DOM elements and JS scripts render within it, and manipulate these elements. Solution preferably in Python, but I can manage others.

    Had the following as an interview question a while ago and choked so bad on basic syntax that I failed to advance (once the adrenalin kicks in, coding goes out the window.) Given a list of string, return a list of sets of strings that are anagrams of the input set. i.e. "dog","god", "foo" should return {"dog","god"}. Afterward, I created the code on my own as a sanity check and it's been around now for a bit. I'd welcome input on it to see if I missed anything or if I could have done it much more efficiently.   • What is the most efficient procedure for implementing a sortable ajax list on the backend?

    The most common method is to assign a sequential order field for each item in the list and do an update that maintains the sequence with every ajax sort operation. Unfortunately, this requires an update to each item of the list every time someone sorts. This is fine for small lists, but what's the best way to implement sorting for larger lists that are constantly updated? I am looking for something that minimizes DB IO.

Also, being able to drag and select multiple cells. Then send all of this via $_POST to another php script. Problem is, I have no idea where to start. Any suggestions?

    How do I: sigsetjmp inside the handler and then return from the handler such that the signal will be unmasked once I siglongjmp back to this point? In pseudo code this is sort of the function that I have: signal_handler(){ if(sigsetjmp(env[i++])) return; else siglongjmp(env[i]); } It's supposed to be the context switch code for user threads in Linux.

    I'm looking for a collection that offers list semantics, but also allows array semantics. Say I have a list with the following items: apple orange carrot pear then my container array would: container[0] == apple container[1] == orangle container[2] == carrot Then say I delete the orange element: container[0] == apple container[1] == carrot I don't particularly care if sort order is maintained, I'd just like the array values to function as accelerators to the list items, and I want to collapse gaps in the array without having to do an explicit resizing.

    I am using Android HoneyComb.I need to execute some tasks parallely and I am using AsyncTask's public final AsyncTask executeOnExecutor (Executor exec, Params... params) method.In each separate thread I am computing some values and I need to store then in an ArrayList.I must then sort all the values in the arrayList and then display it in the UI.Now my question is if one of the thread gets completed earlier than the other then will it immediately call the onPostExecute method or onPostExecute method will be called after all the background threads have been completed?MY program implementation depends on what occurs here.

How do I get the id of the latest snapshot using boto?   • New iPhone Dev policy...how does Apple enforce this? [closed]

    Apple doesn't want anyone to create iPhone apps outside of the Xcode/Objective-C environment. How can they actually enforce this? If the non Xcode IDE, for example Unity, compiles to an iPhone executable, how will Apple know which dev environment you used to create the app? Can they have Xcode compile some sort of signature into the executable that no one knows about?

Eg: ABC1234, ABC2345 etc. How to retrieve the largest value (max equivalent of int type) from this column. In my case it would be ABC2345.   • Fixed background on iPhone Safari

    iPhone Safari seems to have some sort of problem whereby a page with css like this: body { background: #000 url(fixedimage.png) fixed repeat-x; } ...doesn't actually lead to a fixed image. It scrolls as the user scrolls. I've seen plenty of people kvetching about this on the internets, but no real solution. Does anyone have any ideas?
