• Django URL regex question

  Hey all! I had a quick question about Django URL configuration, and I guess REGEX as well. I have a small configuration application that takes in environments and artifacts in the following way: url(r'^env/(?P<env>\w+)/artifact/(?P<artifact>\w+)/$', 'config.views.ipview', name="bothlist"), Now, this works fine, but what I would like to do is have it be able to have additional parameters that are optional, such as a verbose mode or no formating mode. I know how to do this just fine in the views, but I can't wrap my head around the regex. the call would be something like GET /env/<env>/artifact/<artifact>/<opt:verbose>/<opt:noformat> Any help would be appreciated, thanks! -Shawn

• WPF Visual Studio Package gives error: Could not find endpoint element with name 'WCFname' and contr

  Hi everybody. This error has been covered before in other questions, however not for a Visual Studio package. Could not find endpoint element with name 'WCFname' and contract 'WCFcontract' in the ServiceModel client configuration section. I have a VS package project that needs to connect to a WCF service that provides some functionality. Everytime it just throws this error: Could not find endpoint element with name 'WSHttpBinding_IWCFSearchService' and contract 'WCFSearchServiceReference.IWCFSearchService' in the ServiceModel client configuration section. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no endpoint element matching this name could be found in the client element. My guess is that it's taking the configuration file for Visual Studio (since it is running VS experimental mode). So yeah...why isn't it recognizing the app.config file and how could I make the application to recognize it? Any help would be very welcomed as I have already tried to fix this for some time.   Is there a way to navigate between tabs in VS similar to the emacs iswtichb-mode or Firefox ubiquity switch tab mode (https://wiki.mozilla.org/Labs/Ubiquity/Ubiquity_0.1_Author_Tutorial#Switching_Tabs) ? In these apps, you just type a substring of the title of the tab (or buffer for emacs) to switch to this tab. For instance, to switch to a tab named "App_Code/Data/MyProgram.cs", you just invoke the tab switching command and then type "Progr" for instance to list all the tab whose name matches this string, including "MyProgram.cs". It's much easier to switch between tabs this way when you have a lot of documents open and when you now where to go (which is the case in most situation) Thank you !

  So, I've got a DAO that I used to load and save my domain objects using JPA. I finally managed to get the transaction stuff working (with a bunch of help from the folks here...), now I've got another issue. In my test case, I call my DAO to load a domain object with a given id, check that it got loaded and then call the same DAO to delete the object I just loaded.   Blend 4 is telling me this is invalid markup and its not telling me why: <ImageBrush Stretch="Fill" ImageSource="{Binding Avatar, Mode=OneWay}"/> I'm pulling data from a Twitter feed, saving to an ImageSource, and then binding it to an ImageBrush(as seen below) to be used as the Fill for a Rectangle.   Basically I'm wondering how I'm able to do what I've written in the topic. I've looked through many tutorials on AsyncTask but I can't get it to work. I have a little form (EditText) that will take what the user inputs there and make it to a url query for the application to lookup and then display the results. What I think would seem to work is something like this: In my main activity i have a string called responseBody. Then the user clicks on the search button it will go to my search function and from there call the GrabUrl method with the url which will start the asyncdata and when that process is finished the onPostExecute method will use the function activity.this.setResponseBody(content).   In the normal case I use vim's make utility I will set makeprg to the Makefile of the project I'm currently working for. Since usually the project will last for weeks or even longer, I don't need to change the setting of makeprg very often . But sometimes I need to write some "foobar" code either for practicing my c++ skill or for prototyping some primitive ideas in my mind. So whenever I switch to the "foobar" mode of vim usage, I need to comments the original makeprg setting add the new setting as following : au FileType c set makeprg=gcc\ % au FileType cpp set makeprg=g++\ % which is really very very inconvenient . when I back to the "normal project mode" of vim usage, I need to change back to the original setting . back and forth .... what I want to know from you guys is that : is it possible to make the setting of makeprg temporarily . for example , define a function in which first set a local value of makeprg and then call make before return form the function call automatically restore makeprg to the value before the function call.

  I have an old NPAPI plugin for OS X that I'm trying to refit for use with Snow Leopard's version of Safari. My problem is that when I switch Safari to 64-bit mode, it changes the plugin environment to out of process mode (where plugins are hosted by a 32-bit WebKitPluginHost process). And now my toolbar palettes are not visible on screen, even though the NSPanels on which they are based think they are visible. The documentation says that bringing up windows is not recommended, but doesn't say its prohibited; is there something I can do to bring up my Windows?

• How to Access a descendant object's internal method in C#

  I'm trying to access a method that is marked as internal in the parent class (in its own assembly) in an object that inherits from the same parent. Let me explain what I'm trying to do... I want to create Service classes that return IEnumberable with an underlying List to non-Service classes (e.g. the UI) and optionally return an IEnumerable with an underlying IQueryable to other services. I wrote some sample code to demonstrate what I'm trying to accomplish, shown below. The example is not real life, so please remember that when commenting. All services would inherit from something like this (only relevant code shown): public class ServiceBase<T> { protected readonly ObjectContext _context; protected string _setName = String.Empty; public ServiceBase(ObjectContext context) { _context = context; } public IEnumerable<T> GetAll() { return GetAll(false); } //These are not the correct access modifiers.. With GetAll(bool returnQueryable) being marked internal, the children would not be able to see each other's GetAll(bool) method, just the public GetAll() method. I know that I can add a new internal GetAll method to each service (or perhaps an intermediary parent class within the same assembly) so that each child service within the assembly can see each other's method; but it seems unnecessary since the functionality is already available in the parent class. For example: internal IEnumerable<Employees> GetAll(bool returnIQueryable) { return base.GetAll(returnIQueryable); } Essentially what I want is for services to be able to access other service methods as IQueryable so that they can further refine the uncommitted results, while everyone else gets plain old lists. Any ideas? EDIT You know what, I had some fun playing a little code golf with this... but ultimately I wouldn't be able to use this scheme anyway because I pass interfaces around, not classes. So in my example GetAll(bool returnIQueryable) would not be in the interface, meaning I'd have to do casting, which goes against what I'm trying to accomplish. I'm not sure if I had a brain fart or if I was just too excited trying to get something that I thought was neat to work. Either way, thanks for the responses.

When that loading thread finishes, it returns the Bitmap to be set on the ImageView (I do this using AsyncTask or Handler). Because I recycle ImageViews, it may be the case that I first want to set a view with Bitmap#1, then later want to set it to Bitmap#2 when the user scrolls down. Bitmap#1 may happen to take longer than Bitmap#2 to load, so it may end up overwriting Bitmap#2 on the view. I solve this by maintaining a WeakHashMap that remembers the last Bitmap I want to set for that view. Below is somewhat a pseudocode for my current approach. Is there any risk when the loading thread calls back to the ImageView later, when the Activity is already destroyed? Moreover, AsyncTask has some global thread-pool underneath, so if lengthy tasks are not canceled when they're not needed anymore, I may end up wasting time loading things users don't see. My current design of keeping this thing globally is too ugly, and may eventually cause some leaks that are beyond my understanding. Instead of making ImageLoader a singleton like this, I'm thinking of actually creating separate ImageLoader objects for different Activities, then when an Activity gets destroyed, all its AsyncTask will be canceled. Is this too awkward? Anyway, I wonder if there is a safe and standard way of doing this in Android. In addition, I don't know iPhone but is there a similar problem there and do they have a standard way to do this kind of task? Many thanks.

I made it but I came to the situation when the wsimport tool generates classes with methods with params for header(for authentication) and the params are not just simple types. But some complex.   For reading programming (and other) documentation, the Emacs INFO mode is outstanding. So outstanding that I would like to be able to read say, the Emacs Lisp info file and the org-mode info files simultaneously without traversing back up to the beginning of the info tree. Either I've missed something obvious or I will need to hack some Emacs Lisp to achieve the goal. And yet again, someone may have already cracked this nut. So I guess my question is: what is the state of the practice for reading mulitple INFO files in Emacs simultaneously?

• Suppressing NSLog statements for release?

  I wonder if someone could help me setup a number of NSLog statements so they print to console when executing in "Debug Mode" but don't print in "Release Mode". I understand I need to add something like DEBUG = 1 to the debug config in Xcode but I can't find where. Also how do I utilise this in my code? • PresentModalViewController problem.

  I have a new view controller on the iPhone which I call using the following line of code: [self presentModalViewController:controller animated:NO]; This works great if animation is on, but I am looking to have an instant switch. The problem is when I set animation to NO, the whole view shifts 20px to the right (it is always in landscape mode) as if there is a status bar but in portrait mode!? In this example the yellow space is the new view controller. I've tried this in a new project and the same thing happens. It may be a bug but does anyone have a fix? Thanks

• Connect rails application to SQL Server 2005 from Windows

  Hi guys. I (sadly) have to deploy a rails application on Windows XP which has to connect to Microsoft SQL Server 2005. Surfing in the web there are a lot of hits for connect from Linux to SQL Server, but cannot find out how to do it from Windows. Basically I followed these steps: Install dbi gem Install activerecord-sql-server-adapter gem My database.yml now looks like this: development: adapter: sqlserver mode: odbc dsn: test_dj host: HOSTNAME\SQLEXPRESS database: test_dj username: guest password: guest But I'm unable to connect it. When I run rake db:migrate I get IM002 (0) [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified I'm not a Windows user, so cannot understand really well the meaning of dsn element or so. Does someone have an idea how to solve this? • iphone - presenting an alertview with the right orientation

  I have to present an alertview when my app starts. My app supports both landscape modes. Despite the landscape mode the device is when the app starts the alertview always shows in portrait. I have tried to use the accelerometer to detect the interface orientation before the orientation notification and I have the correct orientation 2 seconds before the alertview showing. Then, I use this code to set the status bar to a different orientation, hoping the alertview will follow... [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarOrientation:UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight]; or left, depending on the landscape mode. Nothing works. Is there a way to force the alertview to respect the orientation? The point here is this: I cannot set one landscape orientation in particular for the status bar, I have to detect the orientation the device is on and then set the status bar orientation. thanks for any help.

• Problem using Hibernate-Search

  Hi, I am using hibernate search for my application. It is well configured and running perfectly till some time back, when it stopped working suddenly. The reason according to me being the number of my model (bean) classes. I have some 90 classes, which I add to my configuration, while building my Hibernate Configuration. When, I disable hibernate search (remove the search annotations and use Configuration instead of AnnotationsConfiguration), I try to start my application, it Works fine. But,the same app when I enable search, it just hangs up. I tried debugging and found the exact place where it hangs. After adding all the class to my AnnotationsConfiguration object, when I say cfg.buildSessionfactory(), It never comes out of that statement. (I have waited for hours!!!) Also when I decrease the number of my model classes (like say to half i.e. 50) it comes out of that statement and the application works fine.. Can Someone tell why is this happening?? My versions of hibernate are: hibernate-core-3.3.1.GA.jar hibernate-annotations-3.4.0.GA.jar hibernate-commons-annotations-3.1.0.GA.jar hibernate-search-3.1.0.GA.jar Also if need to avoid using AnnotationsConfiguration, I read that I need to configure the search event listeners explicitly.. can anyone list all the neccessary listeners and their respective classes?   Hi all, I am developing a tab-based iPad application in which corresponding to each tab, I have to show an UISplitViewController . I have done this by adding two navigation controllers to my tabBarController and assigning a subclass of UISplitViewController as RootViewController of both navigationController. And also I have to show both viewControllers(Master and Detail) in both modes(Potrait and Landscape). For this I have constructed a subclass of UISplitViewController in which i am overriding willAnimateRotationToInterfaceOrientation method and setting the frame of both ViewControllers as demonstrated in this link. However i am not able to set both viewControllers correctly.If my app starts in Landscape mode everything displays fine but if i open it in Potrait mode then the orientation of both ViewControllers changes. Sometimes the MasterView occupies the entire screen or sometimes both ViewControllers appear leaving a black line between them and the navigationBar. I have been banging my head over this problem since two days without any success. kindly help..

• Adb shell commands to change settings or perform tasks on a phone

  How do I use adb to perform some automated tasks on my android phone? I need to find commands that I can issue from the command line (ideally, using a .bat file) that will be capable of more than simply opening an application or sending an input keyevent (button press). For instance, I want to toggle Airplane Mode on or off from the command line. Currently, the best I can do is launch the Wireless & network settings menu and then use input keyevents to click Airplane mode: adb shell am start -a android.settings.AIRPLANE_MODE_SETTINGS adb shell input keyevent 19 & adb shell input keyevent 23 There are quite a few drawbacks to this method, primarily that the screen has to be on and unlocked. Also, the tasks I want to do are much broader than this simple example. Other things I'd like to do if possible: 1.Play an mp3 and set it on repeat. If there is no easier way to do these sort of things, is there at least a way to turn the screen on (using adb) when it is off? Or to have keyevents still work when the screen is off? I'm not very familiar with java. • UIImageView rotation (NOT the image, but the view)

  Hi. How do I rotate the ImageView ... i'm trying to use landscape mode, and have a problem with accelerometer moving the image ... Because when I work in portrait mode the x of accelerometer is the same as the x of the image ... But when I work landscape, the x of accelerometer is the y of the image, because the ImageView autorotates with the parent View. When I rotate the image with CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(M_PI/2), it rotates only the image in it's ImageView... and the x,y sides stays untouched ... Is there any way to make own class which will extend UIImageView where I will swap the x,y sides of a UIImageView ? Or is there some way to rotate the UIImageView, and not only the image in it?
