  • MPI Large Data all to all transfer

    My application of MPI has some process that generate some large data. Say we have N+1 process (one for master control, others are workers), each of worker processes generate large data, which is now simply write to normal file, named file1, file2, ..., fileN. The size of each file may be quite different. Now I need to send all fileM to rank M process to do the next job, So it's just like all to all data transfer. My problem is how should I use MPI API to send these files efficiently? I used to use windows share folder to transfer these before, but I think it's not a good idea. I have think about MPI_file and MPI_All_to_all, but these functions seems not to be so suitable for my case. Simple MPI_Send and MPI_Recv seems hard to be used because every process need to transfer large data, and I don't want to use distributed file system for now.

    we have a portal that have SQL server 2005 database that contain about 1750 stored procedures , 250 view and 200 function and 95% of them not have handling exception in their code .. we search about any way that allow us making such a global exception handling in SQL that receive any exception happen in any SP,view or function and stored it in a table we made .. is there something like this in SQL server 2005 or we must write exception handling code on each item ?

  • Manipulating excel "autoshapes" with VBA

    I am trying to write a macro in VBA (Excel) that is assigned to a Checkbox. Whenever the checkbox is clicked, an "autoshape" will change its "order" from "Send to Back" to "Send to Front". Basically, I am trying to create a dashboard with multiple panels, so that users can access information without moving between sheets. Each panel will have a rectangular autoshape as its background and the components of the panel will be "grouped" within the autoshape. Can this be done?   • Sending out 20,000+ emails with asp.net

    I am writing an application that will need to send a massive amount of emails to our students who will be selected from our database (each email will be personalized to the extent that will include their name, course of study etc...so needs to be sent one at a time). I could do this looping over an SmtpClient, but I'm afraid that with the numbers I'm trying to send, I'll ultimately run into timeout issues or my thread being killed because of lack of machine resources. At this point I'm just looking for suggestions of a better way to handle this, or if looping over SmtpClient is an ok solution, how I should go about handling it to prevent what I posted above. Would a web service be a better alternative? Please advise, TIA

    I'm working on 2 cases: assume I have those var: a = "hello" b = "hello-SP" b = "not_hello" 1 - Any partial matches I want to accept any string that has the var a inside, so b and c would match. 2 - Patterned match I want to match a string that has a inside, followed by '-', so b would match, c does not. I am having problem, because I always used the syntax /expression/ to define Regexp, so how dinamicaly define an RegExp on Ruby??

    I'm using System.Net.Mail to send out a few emails. The emails are being sent by our internal mail server to local addresses. However all of the messages are going straight to junk in Outlook. The messages are being sent from valid email addresses. What would be causing our our servers to label it as junk?     I am new to NOSQL world and still comparing between nosql and sql databases, I Just tried making few samples using mongodb. I am asking about stored procedures when we send few parameters to one stored procedure and this procedure execute number of other stored procedures in the database, will get data from stored procedures and send data to others. In other words, will make the logic happen on the database side using sequence of functions and stored procedures. Is that behavior or something the same already exist on NOSQL databases, or its completely different and i am thinking in the wrong way?

  • How to limit SMTP delivery to hourly batches

    In an effort to keep us from being labeled spammers by major ISPs (in addition to SPF records, privacy policies, CANSPAM compliance and the like) - I wanted to limit the amount of mail we send out an hour. Is this possible in W2K3 SMTP server? I was looking at outbound connection properties in the SMTP virtual server config screens...It's just not that clear if tinkering with those settings are going to do what I want. In a nutshell, I'd love mail being sent by this server to queue up and send for example, 5,000 messages every 10 minutes or so. Is this possible?

Also, I would be very happy if someone could tell me how to use multiple data inputs in POSTFIELDS. Pastebin API uses paste_code as its main data input, but it can use optional things like paste_name that sets the name of the upload or paste_private that sets it private.

  • Comet with multiple channels

    Hello, I am writing an web app which needs to subscribe to multiple channels via javascript. I am using Atmosphere and Jersey as backend. However the jQuery plugin they work with only supports 1 channel. I've start buidling my own implementation. Now it works oke, but when i try to subscribe to 2 channels only 1 channel gets notified. Is the XMLHttpRequest blocking the rest of the XMLHttpRequests?   • Find a control by String from asp.net Web service

    Well since it seems relatively difficult to send the object of a WebControl over JSON using jquery.ajax() I've decided to send the name of the control as a string because I know how to do that. Then I promptly realized that, from a web service, I don't actually know how to search for a control by ID name. Since its a service I can't seem to get Control.FindControl() to work so does anyone have ideas or suggestions? All I'm trying to do is call a databind() on my radcombobox. Thanks in advance! For any of you that knows anything about asp.net/rad controls - I'm basically updating a database and want the radcombobox to be in sync with that database again after adding something, before I autoselect what was just added. Other than databind do i have to call anything to refresh that list? Thanks again!

    Hi, I'm currently trying to develop a message-oriented networking framework and I'm a bit stuck on the internal mechanism. Here are the problematic interfaces : public interface IMessage { } public class Connection { public void Subscribe<TMessage>(Action<TMessage> messageCallback); public void Send<TMessage>(TMessage message); } The Send method does not seem complicated, though the mechanism behind Subscribe seems a bit more painful. Obviously when receiving a message on one end of the connection, I'll have to invoke the appropriate delegate. Do you have any advice on how to read messages and easily detect their types ? By the way, I'd like to avoid to use MSMQ.

  • inter servlet communication

    Hello everyone, I have two servlets: LoginServlet and MailServlet. LoginServlet queries a mysql table using jdbc to get a string(eMail). What I want is to forward this string to MailServlet which in turn will send an email to that e-mail ID sent by LoginServlet. My question is how do I call and send the variable eMail to MailServlet, from LoginServlet? I thought of creating an instance of the MailServlet as : MailServlet servlet = new MailServlet(); And then use the servlet object to call the function doGet() in MailServlet. But I am feeling that there is some error in this as this is not the right way to call a servlet. So how do I call and pass a variable to MailServlet?

  • FastCGI, PHP, Sendmail, and Codeigniter

    Hi Everyone. I am experiencing an odd issue. I just switched to FastCGI (Apache) because of the big performance boost. Everything is working great, except when I attempt to use sendmail (Codeigniter Class or just raw PHP). I have tested with and without CI and still get a 500 internal server error when trying to send. Could this be getting caused by a discrepency in how FastCGI utilizes sendmail? Has anyone else experienced this issue? Also, the email will send, it just errors afterwards. Please let me know a solution if you have one! Thanks! :)

Each class has remotely callable methods and a dispatch method with two possible input, a string identifying the method or an integer which would be the index of the method in a table. A mapping of the string to the corresponding integer would be implemented by a map. The caller would send the string on the first call and get back the integer with the response so that it simply has to send the integer on subsequent calls. It is just a small optimization. The integer may be assigned dynamically on demand by the server object. The server class may be derived from another class with overridden virtual methods. What could be a simple and general way to define the method binding and the dispatch method ?

  • How to handle server-client requests

    Currently I'm working on a Server-Client system which will be the backbone of my application. I have to find the best way to send requests and handle them on the server-side. The server-side should be able to handle requests like this one: getPortfolio -i 2 -d all In an old project I decided to send such a request as string and the server application had to look up the first part of the string ("getPortfolio"). Afterwards the server application had to find the correct method in a map which linked the methods with the the first part of the string ("getPortfolio"). The second part ("-i 2 -d all") got passed as parameter and the method itself had to handle this string/parameter. I doubt that this is the best solution in order to handle many different requests.   • A couple problems re: CodeIgniter emailer

    I have some problems with the email system for CodeIgniter: First, the emails I send out (registration, confirmations) are getting caught in standard spam filters in gmail and other mail clients. How do I get around this? How do companies like Facebook get their emails through consistently? Second, the mailer is working locally but once we deploy it it no longer runs (doesn't send emails) but all the other forms run just fine. Anyone ever run into a problem like this?   • Android and PHP - Do I need to use sessions?

    I have created an Android App that communicates with a PHP web server. They both send JSON to each other. My App is almost finished, however there is one thing left to do: authentication. Since the user's username and password will be stored in Android SharedPreferences, is there any need to use PHP sessions, given that the user won't need to enter the username/password at every request? Since I can just send the username and password in the HTTP POST header for every request, and that I will be using SSL, is this sufficient? I guess I could add an extra field in the header called 'random' that just adds a random value, just to use as a salt so that the encrypted SSL payload will be different everytime. The reason why I don't want to use sessions is that my Android App would either have to handle cookies, or managed the storage of the session ID. If there are some serious cons to using my method above, then I'm more than happy to use sessions, however all advice is appreciated. Thanks

  • Floating point Endianness?

    Hi I'm writing a client and a server for a realtime offshore simulator, and, as I have to send a lot of data through a socket, I'm using binary data to maximize the ammount of data I can send. I already know about integers endianness, and how to use htonl and ntohl to circumvent endianness issues, but my application, as almost all simulation software, deals with a lot of floats. My question is: Is there some issue of endianness whean dealing with binary formats of floating point numbers? I know that all the machines where my code will run use IEEE implementation of floating points, but is there some endianness issue when dealing with floats? Since I only have access to machines with the same endian, I cannot test this by myself. So, I'll be glad if someone can help me with this. Thanks in advance.

  • Streaming data to the browser as a file of unknown size

    I have some data which is queried from the database and I'd like to send it to the client as a csv file. The file size varies each time due to the fact that the DB data returned can be of any size. Instead of saving this file to the hard disk, I'd like to send it to the browser at the same time it's being processed into a CSV by my algorithm. Response.Write seems useless. For some reason, the file download dialog is only displayed once my processing is finished. This seems odd as I'm writting all my output to the Response.Output stream. I have downloaded files on the web before where the filesize is not known and the browser just keeps on downloading. Is there any way to achieve this?
