  • Where to Start with build a personal site and WordPress, CSS and CMS

    Hey guys im in a very confused state of mind at the moment and need some help with Word Press and generally starting a website. My parents have had a business for 20 years and have finally decided to get a website! As im studying IT and Business i said id get it done for them. Rather than design it from scratch i used a template which i bought from themeforest.net (awesome template!) and yesterday a friend mentioned in passing using word press as a CMS which i had never heard of before, and he left before i could ask any questions. SO basically i have a site working on my computer and i have no idea how to get it live as a .com or .com.au, so far as i can see wordpress is a blog with .wordpress.com which isnt what im looking for.   • Gracefully handling screen orientation change during activity start

    I'm trying to find a way to properly handle setting up an activity where its orientation is determined from data in the intent that launched it. This is for a game where the user can choose levels, some of which are int portrait orientation and some are landscape orientation. The problem I'm facing is that setRequestedOrientation(ActivityInfo.SCREEN_ORIENTATION_LANDSCAPE) doesn't take effect until the activity is fully loaded. This is a problem for me because I do some loading and image processing during startup, which I'd like to only have to do once. Currently, if the user chose a landscape level: the activity starts onCreate(), defaulting to portrait discovers from analysing its launching Intent that it should be in landscape orientation continues regardless all the way to onResume(), loading information and performing other setup tasks at this point setRequestedOrientation kicks in so the application runs through onPause() to onDestroy() it then again starts up from onCreate() and runs to onResume() repeating the setup from earlier Is there a way to avoid that and have it not perform the loading twice? For example, ideally, the activity would know before even onCreate was called whether it should be landscape or portrait depending on some property of the launching intent, but unless I've missed something that isn't possible. I've managed to hack together a way to avoid repeating the loading by checking a boolean before the time-consuming loading steps, but that doesn't seem like the right way of doing it. I imagine I could override onSaveInstanceState, but that would require a lot of additional coding. Is there a simple way to do this? Thanks!

Practically all of my columns use a DataTemplateSelector, so in my search, I need to be able to take a DataTemplate, apply it to a ContentControl, and then find a TextBlock to get the text to see if it matches my search criteria. I'm trying the following but it's not seeming to produce any results.     So I'm writing an application that will do a little screen scrapping. I'm using the HTML Agility Pack to load an entire HTML page into an instance of HtmlDocoument called doc. Now I want to parse that doc, looking for this: <table border="0" cellspacing="3"> <tr><td>First rows stuff</td></tr> <tr> <td> The data I want is in here <br /> and it's seperated by these annoying <br /> 's. No id's, classes, or even a single <p> tag. </p> Just a bunch of <br /> tags. </td> </tr> </table> So I just need to get the data within the 2nd row. How can I do this? Should I use a regex or something else?

  • Load first page on splashscreen using phonegap on android

    Hi i'm using phonegap in conjunction with Jquery mobile. I'm trying to immediately fetch the main page, while showing the user a splashscreen. In PhoneGap for Android i'm using this super.setIntegerProperty("splashscreen", R.drawable.splash); super.loadUrl("file:///android_asset/www/index.html", 2000); While this loads the splash, it also delays the loading of index.html. It it possible to start fetching it right away? Also, if not with phonegap, has anybody done this using JQM instead of phonegap? UPDATE: After using it with a slower loading first page (doing a json request) it kinda looks like the splash screens shows for a longer period of time, so this appears to be the default behavior

  • Paypal IPN Confirmation Screen immediately after redirect without reload

    Hi I made a script for IPN which works great but how can i immediately notify the user? I mean paypal redirects the customer to a custom-page i can define, simultanously my ipn.php checked the status, BUT how can i immediately tell the customer on this custom-page that it was successful or not. this custom-page does somehow has to know that this is the customer-xyz which made the ipn-verified!!! payment xyz, but how? i think also this custom-page redirect should wait the 5 seconds because php does only process files/request on-loads... so after 5 seconds the ipnscript surely did complete. Sorry if this question is too newby but i dont know how to notify the customer about the (ipn-verified!!!) payment-status immediately. How do you do this? Thanks so much

  • MSI Installer start auto-repair when service starts

    I have a WiX based MSI that installs a service and some shortcuts (and lots of other files that don't). The shortcut is created as described in the WiX docs with a registry key under HKCU as the key file. This is an all users install, but to get past ICE38, this registry key has to be under the current user. When the service starts (it runs under the SYSTEM account) it notices that that registry key isn't valid (at least of that user) and runs the install again to "repair". In the Event Log I get MsiInstaller Events 1001 and 1004 showing that "The resource 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MyInstaller\Foo' does not exist." This isn't surprising since the SYSTEM user wouldn't have this key. I turned on system wide MSI logging and the auto-repair created its log file in the C:\Windows\Temp folder rather than a specific user's TEMP folder which seems to imply the current user was SYSTEM (plus the log file shows the "Calling process" to be my service). Is there something I can do to disable the auto-repair functionality? Am I doing something wrong or breaking some MSI rule? Any hints on where to look next?

  • How should I start to play with 3D

    I'm a developer for just about 6 months now, and since I enjoy programming I make a couple of little programs. I've startedmaking encripters, calculators, tools, stuff to play with DropBox (hehe), stuff that play with bitmaps, drawing graphics, and even a program to update the MSN display image according to the artwork of the music you're listening yo on iTunes. Now I kind of ran off ideas of programs to deal with information, and I've had an idea: play around with 3d! so I've read a little about it and figured I'd have to have good notions on position and math on point spacial position (which I do, from my 3d modelling experience), but I don't know how to use API's for it, so I've 'simulated' simple 3d with a simple program I've made (it's just a spinning cube, please, first one to open it, comment here stating that it's safe, i've got no reason to harm anyone's pc.) One of my other hobbies is 3d modelling (completly amateur) and I'd like to mix these hobbies together! Here are some questions: 1) What would be a nice 3d development tool for a .NET programmer like me? 2) Is there a way of using 3d models made in 3DS Max ? (I intend on modelling characters) 3) What knowledges should I have in order to render it, and move it areound ? 4) Which API should I use ? NOTE: Not a dupe, I'm asking for directions specific for .NET development possibly using 3ds MAX, and there's no question about it!

  • Start multiple processes of a dll in delphi

    I have a "ActiveX library" project created with Delphi 2007. The library interface return XML data based on input values. This is then used by a PHP script that displays the data on a web page. This works great! The problem is that i can only run one instance of the dll process on the server. However, for security reasons, each of my customer should be able to access their own process of the dll (because the dll is always connected to only one database). Also, because of the way the delphi code is built, it doesn't support multiple threads. (It's a 100 000+ lines project using lots of singleton classes) Is there a way of starting several instances of the same dll? Is there a better way of transferring XML data from delphi to PHP? Sorry for the longish question, any help is appreciated (ps. I know the delphi code should be refactored, but this would mean 6 months of "circular reference" -hell :)

I don't want to prevent other processes from reading the table, but I do want to prevent other processes updating the table. Here is my first attempt: CREATE PROCEDURE someProcedure BEGIN SET TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL READ COMITTED BEGIN TRANSANCTION SELECT COUNT(*) FROM TheTable WITH (UPDLOCK, TABLOCK) -- Pause procedure so that we can view the locks with sp_lock WAITFOR DELAY '00:15' -- Do stuff COMMIT END When I execute the stored procedure, and invoke sp_lock, I see that the table is indeed locked.   • Xcode missing Command Line Utility section - can't start Foundation project template

    I downloaded the iPhone SDK from the iPhone dev center a couple of days ago and installed it yesterday. I'm following the Stanford iPhone development tutorials available on iTunes U. On Assignment 1B, the first instruction is to open a new Foundation Project template. The screenshot shows several sections in Xcode which my version doesn't seem to have, including the Command Line Utility section which the Foundation Project template is shown to be in. Does this need to be installed manually? I tried searching on Google with no luck. The fact that I'm an OS X newbie doesn't really help any either. Thanks in advance!

If you remove all of the risk associated surrounding a "refocus" of your career - what choices would you make? What things would you learn and what would you do with it? I have added a manifest file. When user clicks on the DownloadUpdate.exe, UAC prompts the user for Admin permissions. So i assumed that all processes created and called within DownloadUpdate.exe will run in admin capacity.
