    I'm running apt-get update, and I see errors like W: GPG error: http://us.archive.ubuntu.com precise Release: The following signatures were invalid: BADSIG 40976EAF437D05B5 Ubuntu Archive Automatic Signing Key <[email protected]> It's not hard to find instructions on how to fix these problems, for instance by asking for the new keys with apt-key adv --recv-keys or rebuilding the cache; so I'm not asking about how to fix these. But why is this the right thing to do? Why is "oh, I need new keys? Cool, go get new keys" not just defeating the purpose of having a signed repository in the first place? Are the keys signed by a master key that apt-key checks? Should we be doing some additional validation to ensure that we're getting legitimate keys?

    I've been working on a rather large scale project which makes use of a number of different pages with some very specific Javascript for each of them. To lessen load times, I plan to minify it all in to one file before deploying. The problem is this: how should I avoid launching page specific JS on pages which don't require it? So far my best solution has been to wrap each page in some additional container <div id='some_page'> ...everything else... </div> and I extended jQuery so I can do something like this: // If this element exists when the DOM is ready, execute the function $('#some_page').ready(function() { ... }); Which, while kind of cool, just rubs me the wrong way.

    Right-click within the Projects window in NetBeans IDE 7.2 and from the "View Java Packages As" menu, you can now choose "Reduced Tree".I never really understood the difference between "Reduced Tree" and the already existing "Tree". But it makes sense when you see it. Here's Reduced Tree view: And here's Tree view, where you can see that the "actions" and "nodes" packages above each have their own top level package nodes, which takes up more space than the above: What's cool is that your selected package view is persisted across restarts of the IDE. To be complete, here's the List view, which is the third option you have in the "View Java Packages As" menu: Seems to me like the new Reduced Tree view combines the best of the Tree view with the best of the List view!     I've been using Linux for quite a while in everyday computing and programming. But now i got this new laptop with amazing battery life on windows which runs pretty cool even while gaming. But for some reason on Ubuntu I get like 1/3 battery life and it gets hot even while browsing the web. I have the proprietary drivers for radeon, but I'm thinking about upgrading from Ubuntu 12.04 to 14.04, and I would like to know how can I use only the Intel graphics and have radeon always turned off? Since I do not need the discrete graphics on Ubuntu and I'm pretty sure my problem is related to the radeon sucking up my battery and generating heat. My laptop technical specifications are: Dell latitude 3540 Intel core i7 4500U (with Intel hd4400 graphics ) Ati Radeon HD 8850m with 2GB GDDR5 VRAM 8 GB DDR3L @1600mhz Toshiba 256gb SSD Ubuntu 12.4.3 If you need any additional info, please tell me :)
