• Sanitize Content: removing markup from Amazon's content

  I'm using Amazon Web Service to get product descriptions of various items. The problem is that Amazon's content contains mark up that is sometimes destructive to the layout of my web page (e.g. unclosed DIVs, etc.). I want to sanitize the content I get from Amazon. My solution would be to do the following (my initial list so far): Remove unnecessary tags such as div, span, etc. while keeping tags like p, ul, ol, etc. Remove all attributes from all the tags (e.g. seems like there are style attributes in some of the tags) Remove excess white space (e.g. multiple spaces, carriage returns, new lines, tabs, etc.) Etc. Before I go off trying to build my solution, I'm wondering if anyone has a better idea (or an already existing solution). Thanks.

• MS Access (2010) Enable Design View

  I downloaded the Access template below for doing a home inventory: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/results.aspx?qu=home%20inventory&ex=1&queryid=0d245f2a%2Dacdc%2D4161%2D92c8%2D8ba16a52ab32&AxInstalled=1&c=0#ai:TC101918100| The design view is not visible, which is a bit of a nuisance. Things I've tried: 1) In options/options/current database/ the check boxes (enable layout view & enable design changes for tables in Datasheet view) are both greyed out. 2) I've unblocked the file using Right-Click-Properties. 3) I've tried copying/exporting the objects to another database. But can only copy/export the tables. 4) I've tried holding shift when opening the DB. 5) Enabling all trust permissions etc. None of these work Does anybody have any suggestions. (I'm using Office 2010) Thanks

• jquery sortable problem with ie

  i am using jquery to sort my lists and i have run into a dead end. First, I checked the jquery site if theirs work on ie7, thats great, it does. next, i checked mine without the styles(so there possibly wont be anything that's intercepting or affecting jquery stuff). but i still get this weird error in ie7 when you sort items in the inner list(i have nested lists) they overlap each other, destroying the layout. if you sort the contianer lists, they work fine! here's a jsfiddle of what i mean: http://jsfiddle.net/GDUpa/ note that if you drag demonstration one or two spots(in ie), it will overlap with the other links. BUT if you drag POC (it will select the whole thing including the links under it), it works fine! is something wrong with my markup?

  Hello, We are at a stage where we are considering different Web UI frameworks (most likely component based ones such as GWT, JSF, Wicket, Vaadin, etc). One of the main use cases / constraints is that it must support generating dynamic pages. I.e., the page/form layout and components is stored in a database and is changeable at runtime, and from this pages are generated. We are also going to write static layouts, but that is not the main focus of this question. I thought maybe the user community here can share experiences of different frameworks in this context. Are there differences in ease of implementation and what is suitable?

Here's the process I would like to set up: User click on "I want my ad/profile to be spotlighted" Description page of what he's going to pay Click on payment button Redirected to paypal (can we customise the page layout?) Paypal process, during which paypal notifies us when the payment's done and ok Once done, user's redirected to a page on our website (PHP) We already own a Paypal payment pro account Any help on how to do all these steps is appreciated, although steps 1,2,3 and 6 is likely to be up to me to setup.   Me and my friend started working together as partners , we have decided to make Kick-as* website after website. We have the ideas written down like 100's of them (yes we are choosing best and easy among them first). My friend does the layout design and arranging things , and my part is coding and server management. The little problem i am facing is lack of experience in planing a project. What i do is, I just start the code straight away and along with code I make DB, like when i need a table i make it. I know this is very bad approach for a medium sized project. Here at stackoverflow i saw lots of experienced coders. Need to learn a lot from you guys :) . • Structuring System Architecture in a Flex Web Application on a Budget (w/o Java)

  I started a project a while back using the following architecture from Adobe Developer Article talking about Creating marketing platforms in Flex. I did my first set of coding locally forgetting that my server did not handle Tomcat. So I said okay, and cut some corners and then some other limitation came up and I cut some more corners. Eventually for a good week or two, it was trying to get the project working with making the ends meet. Layers started to merge. In the end I used a PureMVC (Presentation/Client) - ZendAMF (Communication) - MySql (Data) Layout. It worked but I never felt as though I had some layer just to take care of all the SQL calls to the data.It just felt hacked together So should I keep the above setup and just start from the presentation layer and move downwards like they said in the article or is there a better layering (based on a hosting plan that does not handle Java) I could accomplish ? NOTE: I would just ask the adobe guys but they barely reply on their site. Thanks !

  Hello - I am building an iFrame and am using document.location.href - my exact code is: <script type="text/javascript"> document.write("<iframe src='http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=" + document.location.href + "&layout=standard&show_faces=false&action=like&font=verdana&colorscheme=light' frameborder=0></iframe>"); </script> This is working great for all of my pages except one. I believe the issue with the one page is caused by a dash "-" being in the page name. My questions is - is there a way to encode my src differently so that the link works? The CORRECT URL I want it to pull is: []/products/Product%252dExample.html But what it IS pulling in is: []/products/Product-Example.html And this is causing the page to not work correctly. Thanks!

But I can't figure out how to get the right button to work, which is supposed to scroll through the other way. I know there's probably a way to do it with arrays but I can't wrap my brain around it. My question is how can i prevent panelClickHandler function got fired when i click button in the "Load" (custom component)?? pleas explain bubbling with good example ( like to have with custom event classes)?

• Searching a table MySQL & PHP.

  I want to be able to search through a MySQL table using values from a search string, from the url and display the results as an XML output. I think I have got the formatting and declaring the variables from the search string down. The issue I have is searching the entire table, I've looked over SO for previous answers, and they all seem to have to declare each column in the table to search through. So for example my database layout is as follows: **filesindex** -filename -creation -length -wall -playlocation First of all would the following be appropriate: $query = "SELECT * FROM filesindex WHERE filename LIKE '".$searchterm."%' UNION SELECT * FROM filesindex WHERE creation LIKE '".$searchterm."%' UNION SELECT * FROM filesindex WHERE length LIKE '".$searchterm."%' UNION SELECT * FROM filesindex WHERE wall LIKE '".$searchterm."%' UNION SELECT * FROM filesindex WHERE location LIKE '".$searchterm."%'"; Or ideally, is there an easier way that involves less hardcoding to search a table.   I want to use wxHaskell on OS X (Snow Leopard, MacBook Pro). However, nothing happens when I click the button - I don't even get the visual response of the button turning blue to indicate that it's been depressed (haha, no pun intended). I've heard that you have to run a package called "macosx-app" on wxHaskell binaries to get them to run, but I can't find this anywhere. It's not on my machine or (as far as I can tell) in the WX or wxHaskell distros. Anyone know what I need to do to get this to work?

  I'm trying to build my first cocoa application. done some iPhone developing before. I have a hard time understanding how to layout my project. i making a Pong game and my current design is to allocate an NSWindowController from my appDelegate. I then use custom view to act as paddles and ball. My problem is that i can't get the window controller to capture key events. Am i thinking wrong here? My idea is to have a controller class with all the logic, should i subclass another class for that?

How i can to get "patient by name" if name consist of "First name" and "Last name" but user doesn't know your doctor's full name?

• HTML/CSS Div placing

  Yo. There's a tendency in placing divs to follow each other vertically, but what i'm trying to accomplish right now is to is basically to place a number of divs (two) inside a parent div like so: <div id='parent'><div id='onediv'></div> <div id='anotherone'></div> </div> And i'd like to place 'anotherone' just to the right of 'onediv'. Sadly, float:right is pretty much ruining the layout with the divs popping out of their parent divs and whatnot. Any suggestions are welcome. Edit: It might be worth noting that the parent div and 'anotherone' has no height elements at all, with 'onediv' planned to be thought as the "height support" div, allowing the contents of 'anotherone' to make the parent div larger at will.

• How to get rid of blank pages in PDF exported from SSRS

  Hi, I have a SSRS report. When i tried to export to PDF it was taking 4 pages due to its width., where the 2nd and 4th pages were displaying one of my field from the table. So i tried to set the layout size in report properties as width=18in and height =8.5in. It gave me the whole table in a single page of PDF. But I am getting 2nd and 4th page blank. Is the way I am doing is incorrect or else how to get rid of that blank pages. Please give some ideas. Thanks in advance. Brijit

  Hi there, I know this is a weird question to ask, but I would like to know if there is any documentation/blog-article out there that explains the architecture of a Website content management system? More particularly, I am interested to learn more about how "widgets" are implemented. I can't remember which system it was that I've seen tis one, but in the "Page Layout view" it had the ability to allow the end user to select a widget (thumbnail gallery, contact form, etc) from a list, and drag and drop it onto custom areas of the page.   Hi, I would like to do something like this in my application layout: %title= "#{yield(:sub_title)} - Page Name" and in a real view - content_for :sub_title do Übersicht # I tried &Uuml;bersicht, != "&Uuml;bersicht" and a bunch of other methods what happens is, I either get the black pound with the question mark in it - wrong encoding or the raw string (&UumI;bersicht). Does anyone know a way how to get this to work? Another requirement is that I'd like to show user generated content in the title and this content may or may not have umlauts in it. Used versions: Haml 3.0.11, Rails 3 beta4 and currently for development JRuby 1.5

  Hi all, I'm currently working on developing a customizable website layout using jQuery, so I can drag, drop, add and remove blocks of content... much like the iGoogle interface. I have my blocks dragging and dropping working with 3 columns of content My question is to do with adding and removing blocks If I use hide(), I can simply hide and show the blocks. If I use remove, I would have to append the list of blocks to load in a new block into a column. I'm not sure which is the best approach to take. I'd be grateful for any advice on best practise, i.e. to hide() or remove() and any other advice on building this kind of interface. Thank, Sam.

  I have several partial views with Javascript that I am trying to move to the bottom of the page. To do this I am trying to use a container in the master page Master Page - <asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="Foot" runat="server"></asp:ContentPlaceHolder> Partial view(ascx) <asp:Content ID="header" ContentPlaceHolderID="head" runat="server"> ... </asp:Content> But I get this error Parser Error Message: Content controls have to be top-level controls in a content page or a nested master page that references a master page. So how do I ensure that the Javascript for the partial view is at the bottom of the page? Especially in cases where the html layout needs to be at the top of the page?
