• DNS Setting keeps changing on me

  So on my Windows Server 2008 box, I have a DNS server installed on it. For some reason, every ten minutes or so, the Host (A) address for the computer keeps on changing to its internal private IP address. I want it to have its public address for Active Directory purposes, but it keeps changing itself back to the private IP address. Any idea as to why, and how to change it? If it makes a difference, this is an Amazon EC2 server. Thanks

• Alias a linked Server in SQL server management studio?

  Hoping someone can help - is there a way in SQL server management studio 2008 R2 that I can alias a linked SQL server? I have a server, added by IP address, to which I do not have the login credentials - however as the connection is already setup I can login ok. Issue is that, this is a dev environment, prior to a live deployment and the IP I have as a linked server needs to be 'accessible' by my stored procs under a different name, eg 'myserver' not 192.168.xxx.xxx... Any help much appreciated.

I'm trying to run the command alias localip='ip -4 -o addr show eth0 | egrep -o '([[:digit:]]{1,3}\.){3}[[:digit:]]{1,3}' | head -n 1' If I run the command ip -4 -o addr show eth0 | egrep -o '([[:digit:]]{1,3}\.){3}[[:digit:]]{1,3}' | head -n 1 I get the result I expect, however, when trying to create an alias with the command, I get -bash: syntax error near unexpected token `(' Any help would be appreciated.   Hi In this scenario there is point -to point serial connection between R6 and R7 , there is router R10 whose interface F0/0 is having ip address of 10.1.1.2/24 and there is a host machine (R9) with ip address 10.1.1.1/24 which is running an application, My problem is that Application on R9 will only work when it will get its Gateway as 10.1.1.1/24 which is of router (R10) , is there any way i can make R6 and R7 transparent for R9 and R10, Or any type of routing using GRE / Route-map or any other way.   Do web proxies really provide anonimity? I mean, without someone asking for logs in a web proxy server for who/when connected, is it impossible to know who was behind that ip? I'm asking this because I heard somewhere that some technologies (like "flash") bypass personal ip information for requests or something like that. I need to move a server with IP address 192.168.2.240 from NetA to NetB and I cannot change its IP address due to some specific reasons. My question is; if I move that server from NetA to NetB, is it possible to reach that server from NetA?

  I am new at Amazon Cloud technologies. I ve set up an Amazon Linux instance created my keys and assigned elastic IP. Also, I opened all TCP, UDP, ICMP ports(ok, it's very dangerous, but I am using it for test purposes). I ve also installed Apache server and enabled it. But still cant ping or access my instance via IP. Any ideas? EDIT: Please see a screenshot of the security groups settings. All ports are open... Check this out

For example: I run the command ping 192.168.1.1 -t in the command prompt, and if there is no reply I get something is odd, but I don't understand what is and where it is. T IP Traffic to the internet and internally is relatively stable, but the in-house application has been buggy, and dropping connections. • CentOS 5: Can't access webserver via http from host OS?

  My server is installed on a guest OS on vmware. It really bugs me because I can't access it from the host OS's browser even though there is no discrepancy between /etc/hosts, /etc/sysconfig/network, httpd.conf files. Issuing ifconfig command also returns the same IP. I have also enabled netwroking in the vmware settings. And I can ping the guest OS's IP from the host. Any insights pls???

  I have a virtual machine on Vsphere 5.0 running Ubuntu 12.04 when i put dinamic IP (/etc/network/interfaces) iface eth0 inet dhcp Ubuntu have network and i can do ping to google for example (8.8.8.8) but when i put static IP and configure resolv.conf My interfaces file: auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.1.54 gateway 192.168.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 it lost the network and i cant do ping to anything...i dont understand where is the problem...   This can be a very simple question, I'm am attempting to debug an application which generates the following segfault error in the kern.log /var/log/kern.log.0:Jan 8 13:25:56 myhost kernel: myapp[15514]: segfault at 794ef0 ip 080513b sp 794ef0 error 6 in myapp[8048000+24000] Here are my questions: 1) Is there any documentation as to what are the diff error numbers on segfault, in this instance it is error 6, but i've seen error 4, 5 2) What is the meaning of the information at bf794ef0 ip 0805130b sp bf794ef0 and myapp[8048000+24000]? So far i was able to compile with symbols, and when i do a "x 0x8048000+24000" it returns a symbol, is that the correct way of doing it? My assumptions thus far are the following: sp = stack pointer? ip = instruction pointer at = ???? myapp[8048000+24000] = address of symbol?

  I have developed a Java Web Application and I want to show it to my client by hosting it on a server. I tried to run it on my localpc through web-browser and it worked fine. I gave the hostname as "localhost" in the URL of my webApplication. Now I want to show it to my client who is on other computer on internet. I tried to replace the "localhost" from my webApplication's url to my current ip address. But when I put that URL on my own browser, it didn't work. How can I show that web-application to my client. I have my own domain name but do not own any web-hosting. I don't want to purchase a web-hosting plan. One more problem: I don't have static IP address. My IP changes almost everytime when I connect to my ISP.

  How can I create View on Linked Server db. For Example I have a linked server [0.0.0.0] on [1.1.1.1]. Both db servers are SQL Sserver 2005. I want to create View on [1.1.1.1] using table on linked server. EDIT: On creating using full name, [0.0.0.0].db.dbo.table, I am getting this error. SQL Execution Error. Executed SQL statement: SELECT * FROM 0.0.0.0.db.dbo.table (YOu can see brackets are not there.) Error Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider Error Message: Incorrect syntax near '0.0'. --- part of IP address. I am just creating this in ManagementStudio, not using it because it is not created yet. I Have changed IP. In image you can see there are not brackets around IP but I given it and on error these brackets are removed. Thanks.

  So I'm using the following: $r = new Record(); $r->select('ip, count(*) as ipcount'); $r->group_by('ip'); $r->order_by('ipcount', 'desc'); $r->limit(5); $r->get(); foreach($r->all as $record) { echo($record->ip." "); echo($record->ipcount." <br />"); } And I only get the last (fifth) record echo'ed out and no ipcount echoed. Is there a different way to go around this? I'm working on learning DataMapper (hence the questions) and need to figure some of this out. I haven't quite wrapped my head around the whole ORM thing.
