• Improving performance for WRITE operation on Oracle DB in Java

  I've a typical scenario & need to understand best possible way to handle this, so here it goes - I'm developing a solution that will retrieve data from a remote SOAP based web service & will then push this data to an Oracle database on network. Also, this will be a scheduled task that will execute every 15 minutes. I've event queues on remote service that contains the INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE operations that have been done since last retrieval, & once I retrieve the events for last 15 minutes, it again add events for next retrieval. Now, its just pushing data to Oracle so all my interactions are INSERT & UPDATE statements. There are around 60 tables on Oracle with some of them having 100+ columns. Moreover, for every 15 minutes cycle there would be around 60-70 Inserts, 100+ Updates & 10-20 Deletes. This will be an executable jar file that will terminate after operation & will again start on next 15 minutes cycle. So, I need to understand how should I handle WRITE operations (best practices) to improve performance for this application as whole ? Current Test Code (on every cycle) - Connects to remote service to get events. Creates a connection with DB (single connection object). Identifies the type of operation (INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE) & table on which it is done. After above, calls the respective method based on type of operation & table. Uses Preparedstatement with positional parameters, & retrieves each column value from remote service & assigns that to statement parameters. Commits the statement & returns to get event class to process next event. Above is repeated till all the retrieved events are processed after which program closes & then starts on next cycle & everything repeats again. Thanks for help !

Inside the function, it has a pointer to that object which is a location in memory. I am wondering where this pointer lives in memory?   Is it possible to execute raw commands as javascript through the Java driver for MongoDB? I'm tired of wrapping everything in Java objects using Rhino, and would happily sacrifice performance for the convenience of passing javascript directly through to the DB. If not, I can always use sleepymongoose or something, but I don't really want to add yet another language (python) to the stack at this point. Any insights are appreciated.

  Hello, I'm writing an application which is able to communicate with my PC. I have used the Bluetooth functionalities of the SDK 2.1. I can find devices, get their MAC address, create a RFCOMM socket, but when I start the connection, I get the following error message : Service discovery failed. 1)Is it because of the UUID which is not the same on my application and on my PC ? 2)How can I get the correct UUID on my PC ?   Hi I am trying to make an installer which deploys my wcf service, at the moment it is creating the virtual directory, but when i try connect my app to it, i get a CommunicationException was unhandled by user code The remote server returned an error: NotFound. I notice that if i create a virtual directory manually that it will connect and work, so i'm assuming IIS is doing something behind my back which is making it work.   Hi, Next week i am supposed to develop an asp.net application which will connect to SAP, retrieve some data, change them and send back to SAP. We decided to use web services to achieve this and now i just want to know what diffuculties may i face with? I have URL of WSDL of the Web Service, will it be enough for me to adding web reference and giving the WSDL's URL? How will i authenticate? And Will it be the same with consuming normal web services? Also i wonder is there anybody that can share a .NET dll that can be used in visual studio 2008? There are some articles relating how to create such a dll using SAP .Net Connector and visual studio 2003 but i could not find anybody sharing the resulting dll under their post. Thanks...

• User authentication on a Jersey REST service

  I am currently developing a REST application, which is using the Jersey framework. I would like to know a way that I can control user authentication. I have search a lot of places, and the closest article I have found is this: http://weblogs.java.net/blog/2008/03/07/authentication-jersey. However this article can only be used whith a GlassFish server and a attached database. Is there anyway that I can implement an interface in Jersey and use it as a filter before reaching the requested REST resource? I want to use basic authentication right now, but it should be flexible enough such that I can change that at a later time. Thanks in Advance Stefan.
