• Why my laptop sends ARP request to itself ?

  I have just started to learn about protocols. While studying the packets in wireshark, I came across a ARP request sent by my machine to my own IP. Why my machine is sending ARP request to itself? I found 3 packets of this type. There was no ARP reply for these packets. Can anybody explain me why it is? (My operating system is windows-7. I am directly connected to a wifi modem. I got these packets as soon as I started my connection.) I want one suggestion also. many places I read that RFC's are enough for study about protocols. I studied the RFC 826 on ARP. I personally feel that is not enough at all. Any suggestion regarding this? Is there more then 1 RFC for a protocol? I want to study about the protocols in very detail.   I noticed a problem with postfix logs, that information on some of emails delivery status is missing. The issue affects about 1% of emails. • Hour-long shutdown duration "shutting down hyper-v virtual machine management service"

  I have a Windows 2008 R2 server that is a Hyper-V host (Dell PowerEdge T300). Today for the first time I encountered an odd situation; i lost connection with one of the guest machines but logging on physically it seems the guest OS is still running but no longer contactable via the network. I tried to shut down the guest machine (Windows XP) but it would not shut down, getting stuck in a "Not responding" dialog box that cannot be dismissed. I used the Hyper-V management console to reset the machine and it could not get out of resetting state. I tried to save another Windows 2003 guest machine, and it would be progress with its Saving state (0%). The other running Windows 2003 guest was stuck in the logon dialog. My first suspicion is perhaps one of the Windows update patches this week (10 Nov 2011) may something to do with it, which was still pending a system restart. Well, since I could not do anything with Hyper-V i proceeded with the Windows Update restart, and now it is stuck half an hour at "Shutting down hyper-v virtual machine management service" Prior to restarting I did not observe any hard disk errors reported in the system event log; doubt it is a disk-related condition. Shall I force a hard reboot? UPDATE Ok so i left it hanging over an hour while attending to other matters, and thankfully the host cleanly restarted. I can operate the guest machines fine now. Phew. Hyper-V must have been crawling for some reason. The VMs have been observed to become slow in the past when the host has been up for a long duration (two weeks to a month), but never this slow. Would love to know what types of performance monitoring items i can observe to give a hint why this can happen. UPDATE 2012-02-13 In the months ever since, Hyper-V has stalled into this state another two times. It appears so randomly and without any error event logs to hint what is causing it enter this "drunkard" state. Just an Hyper-V management service timeout.   So recently I successfully installed and configured a freebsd jail and I would like to install software within my jail but I cannot connect to the network. I'm trying to setup an apache+php+mysql installation within the jail and have the webserver accessible by users. • phpMyAdmin setup issues

  I am trying to follow the tutorial here to setup the user and pass. It says there that "this section is only applicable if your MySQL server is running with --skip-show-database". First question is, how do I check if MySQl server is running with --skip-show-database? Is there any way I can access phpMyAdmin SQL query window without logging in? Otherwise I'd have to execute this SQL from command line. I am also getting this: Cannot load mcrypt extension. Please check your PHP configuration. I have added mcrypt.so to php.ini and doing the following command proves that I have it. • nconf nagios config no services defined

  I've setup Nagios core on OSX 10.7 server via macports fine. It seems to load fine and the sample config files all copied over to /opt/local/etc/nagios/objects/ fine and are specified correctly in the nagios.cfg file. I then installed nconf manually and got it running without much fight. Then I clicked on "Generate Nagios config" in nconf and get 1 warning and 4 errors. The thing is, when I run 'sudo nagios -v /opt/local/etc/nagios/nagios.cfg' the output shows it is reading a number of services, a localhost, and a contact in the .cfg files...so I'm pretty confident those are ok and the problem is nconf isnt reading the correct .cfg files or something like that. Any ideas what to double check? I did lots of googling and found nothing on this specific issue--so either I'm special (I'm not) or am overlooking something really simple. The path to nagios binary is listed as /opt/local/bin/nagios, if that matters. Also, all the nagios files are owned by nagios:nagios, wheras nconf files are owned by user, with only the directories/files specified in the nconf docs belonging to the _www user and/or group (things like output, temp, config, etc.).   The USB connection is unstable with Nexus S (Android 2.3.4) on AMD 64 running 64-bit Windows 7, but it works with 32-bit Windows Vista. Problem Description: On the 64-bit Windows 7 machine my Nexus S appears to connect, but then it disconnects moments later. Neither accessing USB storage or loading an Android application package file (APK) using the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) work. On 32-bit Windows Vista using the same USB cable, USB storage works. I haven't tried the ADB on 32-bit Windows Vista. Reproduction steps for USB storage: (I have provided the reproduction steps for USB storage and not ADB, because if one isn't working, then the other isn't working either and the USB storage reproduction steps are shorter to document.) Connect the USB cable to the Nexus S and my Windows 7 machine. Effect: The "USB Mass Storage, USB Connected" dialog appears with the button "Turn on USB storage." Click "Turn on USB Storage" Effect: The "working circle" appears. A dialog briefly appears saying "USB storage in use," then it either returns me to Step 1 (now that I am running 2.3.4) or is replaced with the Nexus S's application homepage (while I was running 2.3.3). I'm not sure if the version matters, but I mention it for completeness. On the 32-bit Windows Vista machine the connection is stable. I am able to navigate through the Nexus S file system create, read, update, and delete files, etc. I haven't tried connecting with the ADB. Troubleshooting summary: Tried and failed: Uninstalling and reinstalling the Android USB drivers including removing the files. Uninstalling my custom software Pulling the Nexus S's battery Restarting the Nexus S Restarting 64-bit Windows 7 Changing USB ports on the 64-bit Windows 7 box Compared the dates and file size on the DLLs in my google-usb_driver\amd64 directory and the windows\System32 directory. They match. The sizes for the google-usb_driver\i386 directory do not match (expected). Turning off Debugging mode on the Nexus S does not resolve the problem. Searching Google. Tried and succeeded: Connecting to another machine (Windows Vista) using the same USB cable and Nexus S phone. Troubleshooting observations: I notice that uninstalling the device drivers and deleting the files, then reinstalling the drivers, then rebooting 64-bit Windows 7 then unplugging the Nexus S, then plugging it back in occasionally helps for a short amount of time (minutes to hours, not days). When it is working, I can both access the Nexus S's drive and load/test applications using the ADB. I have observed some wonky behavior in the Device Manager that I haven't tracked down. Sometimes the black Nexus S image appears in the list of devices. Sometimes the image displays as a computer with a green ISA card. Sometimes it neither appears on the top level of devices nor under “other devices,” but it does appear under "disk drives" as "Android UMS Composite USB Device." System configuration: The Nexus S is running Android OS 2.3.4's "Settings\about phone\System updates" indicates that it is up to date as of May 21st 2011. Both 32-bit Windows Vista and 64-bit Windows 7 are up to date. The Windows Vista system is running on an Intel 32-bit processor. Windows 7 is running on an AMD 64-bit processor. I have done Android development on both systems, but I usually develop on the 64-bit Windows 7 machine.

• Windows 7, file properties - Is "date accessed" ALWAYS 100% accurate?

  Hello, Here's the situation: I went on vacation for a couple of weeks, but before I left, I took the harddrive out of my computer and hid it in a different location. Upon coming back on Monday and putting the harddrive back in my computer, I right-clicked on different files to see their properties. Interestingly enough, several files had been accessed during the time I was gone! I right-clicked different files in various locations on the harddrive, and all of these suspect files had been accessed within a certain time range (Sunday, ?January ?09, ?2011, approximately ??between 6:52:16 PM - 7:16:25 PM). Some of them had been accessed at the exact same time--down to the very second. This makes me think that someone must have done a search on my harddrive for certain types of files and then copied all those files to some other medium. The Windows 7 installation on this harddrive is password protected, but NOT encrypted, so they could have easily put the harddrive into an enclosure/toaster to access it from a different computer. Of course I did not right-click every single file on my computer, but did so in different folders. For instance, one of the folders I went through has different types of files: .mp3, ,prproj, .3gp, .mpg, .wmv, .xmp, .txt with file-sizes ranging from 2 KB to 29.7 MB (there is also a sub-folder in this folder which contains only .jpg files); however, of all these different types of files in this folder and its subfolder, all of them had been accessed (including the .jpg files from the sub-folder) EXCEPT the .mp3 files (if it makes any difference, the .mp3 files in this folder range in size from 187 KB to 4881 KB). Additionally, this sub-folder which contained only .jpg files (48 .jpg files to be exact) was not accessed during this time--only the .jpg files within it were accessed-- (between 6:57:03 PM - 6:57:08 PM). I thought that perhaps this was some kind of Windows glitch that was displaying the wrong access date, but then I looked at the "date created" and "date modified" for all of these files in question, and their created/modified dates and times were spot on correct. My first thought was that someone put the harddrive into an enclosure/toaster and viewed the files; but then I realized that this was impossible because several of the files had been accessed at the same exact time down to the second. So this made me think that the only other way the "date accessed" could have changed would have been if someone copied the files. Is there any chance at all whatsoever that this is some kind of Windows glitch or something, or is it a fact that someone was indeed accessing my files (and if someone was accessing my files, am I right about the files in question having been copied)? Is there any other possibility for what could have happened? Do I need to use any kinds of forensics tools to further investigate this matter (and if so, which tools), or is there any other way in which I can be certain of what took place in that timeframe the day before I got back? Or is what I see with Windows 7 good enough (i.e. accurate and truthful)? Thanks in advance, and please let me know if any other details are required on my part.

  Hello, I have a report in Data Dynamics ActiveReports for .NET. In this report I am programmatically setting the ColumnCount property of the detail section to X. The detail section has one databound textbox. The ColumnDirection property of the detail section is set to AcrossDown and the and then the data binding mechanism automatically fills across with data after setting the DataSource and DataMember. Here is the code... Public Sub RunReport Dim count As Integer = 0 ' ... get count Detail1.ColumnCount = count Me.DataSource = ds Me.DataMember = ds.Tables(0).TableName End Sub That code works fine and the data is automatically filled across the report. Now I need to alter the report and circle or highlight one of the items that is auto-filled across columns in the report. • ActiveReports nested subreport rendering resulting in error

  I'm having a problem with an ActiveReports(3.0) report which contains nested subreports. The problem is that the child/grandchild subreports are rendering before their predecessor has completed rendering so the XMLDataSource cannot be set properly. It seems to be a purely timing issue has occassionally if I am debugging the report in Visual Studio and stepping through the code the report will generate but mostly I get an error message: "FileURL not set or empty" The FileURL is supposed to be empty has we are dynamically loading the XML to the report. The structure of the report is: Parent Child1 Child2 GrandChild2-1 GrandChild2-2 I found one solution going back to 2004 on Data Dynamics website that you basically have to force the subreports to look at the parent. ((DataDynamics.ActiveReports.DataSources.XMLDataSource) subrpt.DataSource).FileURL = ((DataDynamics.ActiveReports.DataSources.XMLDataSource) this.DataSource).FileURL; This seemed to work for a while until I took out all my breakpoints and tried to run it and now it just gives me the error message.   Hello, I want to change the behaviour of Sugar CRM community version. Here's what sugar currently does: 1) Admin logs into Sugar. 2) Admin clicks on Admin tab. 3) Admin creates a new user named George with admin access 4) Under user information section, Admin makes George report to Admin (in the database, it will show users.report_to_id is the admin's user_id) 5) Admin saves and logs out 6) George logs in with his password 7) George goes to admin tab. 8) George goes to list users page and sees all users, including Admin, the person he is supposed to report to. I want to change step 8 such that George is not allowed to see the user he reports to. Additionally, he is not allowed to see his grand parent user, great grand parent user, great great grand parent user etc... George should only be able to see users that he creates. How can I achieve this? Is this even possible?

  I have code examples from some of my previous work that help me to post form values to a web page (login credentials) and retrieve the text from that page. Now I want to pass in form values (login credentials again) but actually open that web page in a browser given those credentials. How do I do that? I'm not doing anything nefarious. In our CRM app (home-grown as it is), I want to create a link button that opens our web site's protected products page given the user's credentials (based on the user's login credentials). Normally, I'd copy the user's credentials in our login page which then takes me to the products page. I'm trying to do this now by just clicking a link button. Any suggestions?

  Hello everybody, I'm trying to resolve/close Dynamics CRM4 cases/incidents through webservices. A single SetStateIncidentRequest is not enough and returns a Server was unable to process request error message. I think it has something to do with active workflows that trigger on case's attribute changes. I don't know if there's anything else preventing the request to work. Since it is possible to close those cases through the GUI, I guess there's a "correct" set of steps to follow in order to achieve it through CrmService; unfortunately, I've been googleing it for a while without finding what I want. Trouble is, we have to contact an MS CRM service, and therefore must use NTLM. For a variety of reasons the NTLM proxy is a bit of a pain to use, so I'm looking into python-ntlm to provide that support. Can suds or soap.py be made to use this authentication method? If so, how? A company I'm working with has given an 'API' that I can use to access orders, however, there are only two real commands, getorders and getorderdetails. These commands are put in the format of http://www.server.com/path/to/the/orderapi/getorders/UniqueKey/ If I go to that web address, I'm prompted for a username and password, and once authenticating, get presented with a page of JSON formatted order details, contained in the body of the html page. I would like a service to check this information and create orders in our crm based on it, is there an obvious way to access it without the browser/client interaction?

It's not necessary for the client build additional reports, i think the simplest solution is having a control to display such information and not using crystal report (which is not free) or something more complex, i want to know if is there an available free control to reach my goal. OpenSubKey("SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Dynamics\\5.0\\"); When running this method in an WinForms applicaiton, masterKey is not null and when running this in asp.net masterKey is null! I've checked the executing user with WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Name and the same user is executing both applications. The asp.net application is executed in visual studio ( debug: F5 ) and so is the WinForms application. How come I cannot read the key in asp.net?
