  • boost timer usage question

    I have a really simple question, yet I can't find an answer for it. I guess I am missing something in the usage of the boost timer.hpp. Here is my code, that unfortunately gives me an error message: include <boost/timer.hpp> int main() { boost::timer t; } And the error messages are as follows: /usr/include/boost/timer.hpp: In member function ‘double boost::timer::elapsed_max() const’: /usr/include/boost/timer.hpp:59: error: ‘numeric_limits’ is not a member of ‘std’ /usr/include/boost/timer.hpp:59: error: ‘::max’ has not been declared /usr/include/boost/timer.hpp:59: error: expected primary-expression before ‘double’ /usr/include/boost/timer.hpp:59: error: expected `)' before ‘double’ The used library is boost 1.36 (SUSE 11.1). I have found a few that are quite nice, but one of my requirements is that I can provide a json/xml/etc source of available days/times and the control should only allow selections of available days/times. Is anyone aware of a plugin that does this, or at least a plugin that could be modified to do this? Thanks!

NOW how do i choose the employee with the highest no of shifts under the specified range date, please this is really important

    I recently came across Pomodoro Technique as a way to increase productivity, get in the zone, and in general feel a sense of accomplishment at setting some short programming goals and achieving them. So far I have enjoyed it and the sense of accomplishment I get after seeing a bunch of short goals add up at the end of the day to a lot of work done on a programming project. I'm looking for other ideas similar or not to the pomodoro technique to add a little variety to achieving goals, personal productivity, get in the programming zone, etc. Any ideas or techniques that are expressed formally such as in the pomodoro paper, that are not trite fluffy maxims?

  • get n records at a time from a temporary table

    I have a temporary table with about 1 million entries. The temporary table stores the result of a larger query. I want to process these records 1000 at a time, for example. What's the best way to set up queries such that I get the first 1000 rows, then the next 1000, etc.? They are not inherently ordered, but the temporary table just has one column with an ID, so I can order it if necessary. I was thinking of creating an extra column with the temporary table to number all the rows, something like: CREATE TEMP TABLE tmptmp AS SELECT ##autonumber somehow##, id FROM .... --complicated query then I can do: SELECT * FROM tmptmp WHERE autonumber>=0 AND autonumber < 1000 etc... how would I actually accomplish this? Or is there a better way? I'm using Python and PostgreSQL.

    I have to support IE6 and I calculate rendering time by creating a timestamp in javascript at the beginning of the page and doing the difference when document.ready is fired in jQuery. If I do 3 pages load, the rendering times in milliseconds can look like this : page 1 : 735, 2672, 734 page 2 : 3063, 1516, 3375 page 3 : 8281, 2531, 3703 Why is that? How can I have more consistency?

  • Where should the line between property and method be?

    For many situations it is obvious whether something should be a property or a method however there are items that might be considered ambiguous. Obvious Properties: "name" "length" Obvious Methods: "SendMessage" "Print" Ambiguous: "Valid" / "IsValid" / "Validate" "InBounds" / "IsInBounds" / "CheckBounds" "AverageChildValue" / "CalcAverageChildValue" "ColorSaturation" / "SetColorSaturation" I suppose I would lean towards methods for the ambiguous, but does anyone know of a rule or convention that helps decide this? E.g. should all properties be O(1)? Should a property not be able to change other data (ColorSaturation might change R,G,B values)? Should it not be a property if there is calculation or aggregation? Just from an academic perspective, (and not because I think it's a good idea) is there a reason not to go crazy with properties and just make everything that is an interrogation of the class without taking an argument, and everything that can be changed about the class with a single argument and cant fail, a property?

    I have some variables like these: a(1)=00:26:00 a(2)=744:32:00 a(3)=8040:33:00 I want to convert them to numbers, so I use the datenum command. The biggest number should be 8040:33:00, but look what happens. datenum(a([1 2 3])) ans = 1.0e+005 * 7.3487 7.3485 7.3486 But if I don´t calculate a(1): datenum(a([2 3],51)) ans = 1.0e+005 * 7.3490 7.3520 That´s the results that I want to get. I think that the problem is that a(2) and a(3) have more than 24hours but I haven´t found any way to solve this problem. Thanks.

  • PHP sleep accuracy

    Hello all, I use the following code to see how long a user is on a particular page. I use a hidden image with a src attribute to this script: $timer_seconds = 1; while(!connection_aborted()) { echo "\n"; flush(); sleep(1); $timer_seconds++; } I sometimes find this can be off by 5-10 seconds! I am guessing its the load of the server that effects the timing?? Is there anyway I can make this accurate? Thanks all for any help.
