  • An IE7 toolbar button, with 2 different *.rc files

    I have a IE 7 button toolbar project on Visual C++. My question is, can my button have 2 *.rc files. Means, by default it will use the 1st *.rc file, and when certain condition achieve inside my *.cpp, the button will be using the 2nd *.rc file. Is this allowed in visual studio or IE7? edit: Both rc files has different information for icon image.

For example, if I want to create a 400 GBytes Database, is there a rule to help me decide how many mdf files I should create ? or should I just go ahead and create a single gigantic 400Gbytes mdf file? If so is this going to somehow affect the database performances ?

I see from https://developers.google.com/drive/v1/reference/files#resource that there are 4 operations. If there are no list and search capabilities then the onus is on the app to handle the management. Is there another API I should be using? Are those features in the works?

  • Request Entity Too Large error while uploading files of more than 128KB over SSL

    We have a web portal setup on Java spring framework. It running on tomcat app server. Portal is served through apache web server connected to tomcat through JK connector. Entire portal is HTTPS enabled using 443 port of apache. Apache version is : Apache/2.4.2 (Unix). it is the latest stable version of apache web server. Whenever we try to upload files more than 128 KB into the portal, We are facing 413 error: Request Entity Too Large The requested resource /teamleadchoachingtracking/doFileUpload does not allow request data with POST requests, or the amount of data provided in the request exceeds the capacity limit. In the apache error log we get the following errors: AH02018: request body exceeds maximum size (131072) for SSL buffer AH02257: could not buffer message body to allow SSL renegotiation to proceed We did search over google and there were suggestions to put SSLRenegBufferSize as some high value like 10MB. Based on these suggestions, we had put the following entry in virtualhost section of httpd config file: SSLRenegBufferSize 10486000 But still the error persists. Also we have specified SSLVerifyClient none, but still renegotiation is happening. This is a very inconsistent and frustrating error. Any help will be highly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

  • SQL Server: How to shrink FileStream files?

    For a project, I'm using a SQL Server 2008 R2. One table has a filestream column. I've made some load tests, and now the database has ~20GB used. I've empty tables, except several(configuration tables). But my database was still using a lot of space. So I used the Task -> Shrink -> Database / Files But my database is still using something like 16GB. I found that it's the filestream file is still using a lot of space. The problem is that I need to backup this database to export it on the final production server, and event if I indicate to compress the backup I got a file more than 3.5Go. Not convenient to store and upload. And I'm planning much bigger test, so I want to know how to shrink that empty space. When I'm trying: I get this exception: The properties SIZE, MAXSIZE, or FILEGROWTH cannot be specified for the FILESTREAM data file 'FileStreamFile'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 5509) So what should I do? I found several topics with this error but they was about removing the filestream column.

    I am getting this error while trying to create a connection pool, on my Oracle database, Oracle 10gR2. java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1 ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified I am able to connect to the database over sqlplus & iSQLPlus client, but when I try to connect using this Java program, I get this error just when the connection pool is to be initialised and it does not initialise the connection pool. Can someone please help me resolving it?   • Recovery of Windows DFS partion with shadow copy versioned files when overwritten with older modifie

    I've noticed the following "bug" on a DFS volume with shadow copies: Pretend you have the following folders/files under shadow copy versioning, going back two weeks. MyDirectory+ MyFile - Modified Date 8/1/2009 The current date: 8/30/2009 You have another version of MyFile stored elsewhere, with a modified date of 7/1/2009. Copy your other version of MyFile into MyDirectory, overwriting the newest version. I expected that you could roll back to the version that was there when it last imaged, say on the prior day and recover your 8/1 version. Not the case. Now, when you go to look at previous versions for the past two weeks, the versioning of that file will be entirely lost, and you'll be stuck with your older 7/1 version. Suckage. Questions: (1) Is this intentional, and if so, what's the rationale? I assume that DFS picks up on the versioning based on the current file, and that's what's wiping out prior versions, but it seems like a fairly stupid/naive way of handling versioning to me. (2) Is there a way to backtrack out of this, without resorting to restoration from other backup mediums? Thanks!

  • VMware Fusion configuration files missing

    I need to set up port forwarding to my VM in Fusion 5. Everywhere on the net, the solution is described as editing the file: /Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/vmnet8/nat.conf However, on my install, that file doesn't exist. Neither does the vmnet8 directory. Here is the full content of VMware stuff I have in /Library/Application Support/: /Library/Application Support/ VMware/ VMware Fusion AdminWritable Shared vmInventory usbarb.rules VMware Fusion That's right: /Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/ exists but is empty. And there is no VMware folder in other Library directories on my system. I am running OS X 10.8.2. I just reinstalled Fusion 5.02, no change. Meanwhile, I have 3 VMs that work just fine. So how am I supposed to set up port forwarding with Fusion 5? Thanks, JD Edit: in a hunch, I tried ps ax | grep natd which returned: 9646 ?? S 0:00.01 /Applications/VMware Fusion.app/Contents/Library/vmnet-natd -s 7 -m /Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion/vmnet8/nat.mac -c /Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion/vmnet8/nat.conf So it seems that the configurations files are now in the directory /Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion. I'll work from here and edit this question as I make progress.

  • WebDAV through Apache2 permissions/missing files

    I have a WebDAV setup on Apache2 on a server running Debian 5.0 (Lenny), which I am accessing through a mapped network drive under Windows 7. The setup appears to run fine, I receive no permission errors when copying a file to the share the first time, but the file never shows up in the directory (it's invisible, doing a ls -lha on the directory as root on the server also shows no files. When attempting to copy the file once more I am informed that the file already exists though, and I am asked if I wish to overwrite the file, when selecting "Yes" to this, I receive a permission error saying I'm not able to write to the folder. My logs aren't reporting any access violations of any kind, what could be the problem?   • HP c6180 driver refuses to install - "must reboot to continue delete files and continue install" loo

    User called me last night, can't get HP drivers to install for printer. 500 meg download for latest c6180 driver. PC says "computer must be restarted to delete some files, then setup will continue." and it won't pass that point. (that's not exact phrasing of the error, and I'm not on the system now) Target machine is XP SP2. I upgraded to SP3. Fully patched. Ran malwarebytes, spybot, hijack this and turned off all startup entries. I noted that windows update also failed on optional printer driver updates for other printers installed on the machine. Went to printer server properties, removed all print drivers from system, deleted all printer ports. Made sure no services were marked disabled. After 5 hours of fighting this I started to get desperate, and uninstalled anything that referenced HP in the machine at all. Still no cure. I'm 6 hours into this and completely stumped. Google returns nothing applicable except unanswered requests for help on same topic.

  • How to use Windows mini-dump files?

    I have a Mini-ITX Intel DH61AG mobo w/ an Intel i3 processor and 8GB of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM. Anyways, this computer has been crashing kind of frequently. It is not an OS problem, as I have used Ubuntu (and had kernel panics), Windows 7, and Windows 8 (BSODs aren't going to keep me from tinkering =p) Anyways, each of these OSes have had problems, so I ran a HDD check, and I know it is not a heat issue because I tested the processor for a few days when I first put the computer together. When I ran memtest86+, however, I got an error - so I did individual testing, and both chips came back good, did a really intense test with both of them again (took half a day), and no errors. So, I still think the problem could be RAM, but I am not sure - I tested it pretty extensively (might let it run all night again tonight)... which brings me to my point. Could someone explain to me (in simple terms if possible) how to READ the minidump files of Windows computers? I've tried before with a guide I found online, but failed miserably (can't remember guide, either =/). I'm fine with installing the software, I will probably need it sometime in the future as well. I have seen a few other posts on SU that just ask people to post minidump logs, but I feel as if that is too localized. Would someone be able to explain this?   • Server appears to have lost ability to read PHP files with LAMP

    I have LAMP installed on a PC that is running Ubuntu 11.10. LAMP was running fine but I had to restart the PC because Unity was messing up (as it often does) and the tool bar had disappeared. When it started up, I was unable to fire up any php files. I have a file index.php in /var/www. It is owned by www-data as is the directory that it is in. The LAN address of the server is 192.168.1.10. However when I type 192.168.1.10 into the URL box on Mozilla FireFox, I get Unable to connect Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 192.168.1.10 This server is connected to another server on the LAN that has the LAN address 192.168.1.4. When I type 192.168.1.4 into the Firefow URL box on 192.168.1.10, I see the display associated with index.php on 192.168.1.4. Why can it not display its own /var/www/index.php? Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated, Peter.

  • Time Machine doesn't back up some folders/files (that it should)

    MacBook Pro 17" (Snow Leopard) -- WD 2TB external drive MacBook Pro 13" (Snow Leopard) -- Seagate 1TB external drive I find that Time Machine sometimes doesn't back up new folders (and the files in them). This occurs both when I choose "Back Up Now" from the Time Machine icon in the Menu Bar and in TM's scheduled backups. These are not excluded folders (nor are then in the TM do-not-back-up list); they're perfectly normal folders (at various locations) inside my home folder. The only way to force them to be backed up is to restart the computer (unmounting & mounting the TM external disk does not help). There seems to be a correlation with new folders (i.e., it's more likely to happen that an entire new folder is not backed up), but this may just be observer bias (because those are the folders that I go check to see if they've been backed up). It's not computer dependent (it happens on two different computers). It's not external disk dependent (it happens on two different external disks). It's not time dependent (not restarting for several days does not fix the problem). What does a restart change that these other events don't? I'm considering deleting the /.fseventsd folder (without restarting the computer) to see if that helps. I haven't tried logging out and logging in (without restarting the computer).

  • Weird .#filename files on remote ssh-connected systems after mcedit

    I'm using MacFusion sshfs in combination with Midnight Commander, and when I edit remote text files with mcedit, weird symlinks are created on the remote system. $ ls -l .* lrwxr-xr-x 1 user group 34 Jun 27 01:54 .#filename.txt -> [email protected] where etranger is my local login name, and mbp is a hostname of my notebook running MacOS. symlinks can be removed by running remote rm command, but cannot be deleted on the mac-fuse mounted volume and thus pollutes the filesystem. I cannot figure what part of software is responsible for this, and how I could fix this, any help is appreciated. EDIT: This appears to be mcedit behavior as documented here: https://dev.openwrt.org/ticket/8245 Apparently, sshfs fails to remove symlink to the lock file for some reason (".#" in filename, perhaps), and it pollutes the filesystem. A quick workaround is possible, using another bug of Midnight Commander: editing (F4) the broken symlink effectively converts it to a missing lock file it was supposed to point to, and removes the symlink itself. The newly created file may then be deleted normally. EDIT 2: Unchecking "Follow symlink" in MacFusion apparently allows sshfs to remove dead symlinks, so the problem disappears completely.

  • Search for files after a relative date using Windows search

    I am looking for a way to save a search that includes a relative date. Specifically I am looking for a way to save a search that matches files that have a modification date that is 7 days ago. I have read the Windows Search Advanced Query Syntax document and I am not seeing a way to say 7 days ago. The numbers and ranges section does mention that relative dates are possible. The problem is that the relative dates described there do not fit the criteria I need. The lastweek almost looks like what I want except if I run a query like after:lastweek on a Monday it will only show my file that have been modified since Sunday at 12:00. The lastweek/lastmonth seem to relative to the start of the week/month which is not what I need. Multi-word relative dates: week, next month, last week, past month, or coming year. The values can also be entered contracted, as follows: thisweek, nextmonth, lastweek, pastmonth, comingyear. One nice thing about saved searches is that they are stored as an XML document and the file format is documented. I am not seeing how to form a correct value for a datetime. If I was able to understand this format, I suspect I could use a text editor and created a saved search that does what I want.   • FTP User cannot modify files but has correct permissions

    I have created a new user (foo) and when he logs in via ftp he cannot edit the files in the directory to which he has access. In the directory he can log into ls -l gives me: -rw-rw-r-- 1 root www-pub 6427 Nov 17 04:21 index.html The user belongs to the group www-pub. Here is the output of cat /etc/group to demonstrate that he is indeed in that group: ... www-pub:x:1001:ftpuser,www-data,foo foo:x:1002: *edit the permissions on the containing directory are: drwxrwsr-x 5 root www-pub 4096 Nov 17 02:53 thecontainingdir and the one above that: drwxrwsr-x 49 root www-pub 4096 Nov 16 02:40 thenextdirup So since he can log in via ftp and since the file he needs to edit has the correct permissions to let the group www-pub read and write the file and he is a member of that group, why can't he edit it (or upload anything)? Only when I change the file to 777 can he edit it. It's as if he's NOT in the group... but he is! What's going on?

  • Deleting files in the windows installer folder

    How do you clean up the windows/installer folder on a xp machine. I looked on different forums, but the tool many mention is no longer officially supported and from what I understand not specifically for this task. Also, I was confused on which tool to use or how to use it. The reason I ask this is I have an older computer with ~86gb drive and ~80gb of is being used by the windows/installer. I'm assuming that at least some of these are glitches and shouldn't be in there. Note that the person who uses the computer mentioned trying to interrupt an install at some point and I don't know if this has anything to do with it. Also, there are not that many programs installed on this computer ~25. Also, I know that similar questions has been asked several times already, but the accepted answer Is it safe to delete from C:\Windows\Installer? is mainly talking about is it safe to delete (along with most of the duplicates). I'm asking how to find and delete the files that shouldn't be there especially since were not talking 5-10gb but something that practically fills the entire hard drive, and for those who are wondering I ran CCleaner, but it doesn't seem to check this folder.

  • Slow File Copy observed copying 40GB files across network to iSCSI device

    Here's a curious ones for the gurus: Setup: Source Machine: Windows Server 2003 R2 machine with local hard drive. VHD file of 40GB. 1 x 1Gbps network card, Cat6 cable, switch. Target Machine: Windows Server 2008 R2 machine with iSCSI connection to iSCSI target on separate machine (1TB, RAID5). 1 x 1Gbps network card, Cat6 cable, connected to same switch as for Source Machine. Second 1Gbps network card, Cat6 cable, connected via isolated switch to the iSCSI target. Switches are Netgear JGS524 model (web managed). If I copy from the Win2003R2 machine to Win2008R2 machine local drive I get 40GB in 45 minutes, 36 seconds. If I copy from the Win2008R2 machine to the iSCSI target (local drive to iSCSI target) I get 40GB in 37 minutes 56 seconds. If I copy from the Win2003R2 machine to the iSCSI target via the Win2008R2 machine I get 40GB in 3 hours, 50 minutes, 24 seconds. All copies were done via the following command issued on the Win2008R2 box: XCOPY <source> <target> /J XCOPY /J - Copies using unbuffered I/O. Recommended for very large files. So, what's the bit I'm missing here? Why does a back-to-back copy take in total 1 hour, 23 minutes, 32 seconds when a "straight through" copy take almost 3 times as long? Switches show no errors, network hovers around the 3% utilisation mark for the duration of the copy (whereas the "back-to-back" copies are around the 25% utilisation mark). What have I missed?

    Hey all, quick question. Our current legacy system was built using multiple distinct databases (about ten of them). These are all part of the same discreet system, and a large number of SPs and functionalty span multiple databases. There are also key relationships that span (for example, a header table may be in database A with history, etc. in database B). When deploying multiple copies of our app to the same server therefore, we have to use multiple instances (because the database names are coded into so many sprocs). We're evaluating the idea of taking these ten databases (about 30gb total with individual sizes ranging from 100mb to 10gb) and merging them into a single database. Currently, we have our databases spread accross multiple spindles for better IO. The question I have is whether or not there is any performance loss or benefit of having 10 different databases vs. 10 different database files? i.e. rather than having three databases (A, B, and C) Disk D: A.mdf (1gb) Disk E: B.mdf (4gb) Disk F: C.mdf (10gb) Disk G: A_Log.ldf, B_Log.ldf, C_Log.ldf have one database (X) Disk D: X1.mdf (5gb) Disk E: X2.mdf (5gb) Disk F: X3.mdf (5gb) Disk G: X1_log.ldf,X2_log.ldf,X3_log.ldf Thanks! -Bob
