• No mysql password under linux?

  I was told that mysql user, similar to root user, by default "has no password". Not an empty password, but rather "no password". I wasn't aware this situation was possible - I thought every user on a linux had to have a password. Am I wrong? Can you point me to a link that explain this?

  I'm considering changing the IP on a 2008 Domain Controller, anything that I should be aware of to look out for? Will be doing this on a Saturday night to, leases renew every 24 hours so by Monday morning all the machines will have valid DHCP leases with correct DNS servers. Have a list of all machines on static IP so I know to update them while I'm at it.

  I want Firefox to redirect bad and broken links to Google search instead of the "Can't find the server" page. If it takes an add-on, that's okay. When you enter a bad or broken link in Google Chrome, the browser takes you to a search results page with all possibly relevant links to the request attempted. Please don't suggest the search-tool-bar, I am aware of it. And it's not really significant in this scenario.

This is to compute a true total cost of ownership of self-hosting servers. Of course real TCO includes: hardware_cost + power + cooling + rental + human_cost + maintenance Is there any study that says something like (TCO - hardware_cost) = 40% of hardware_cost in 3 years?   I am trying to solve the "Can't find hypervisor information in sysfs" problem when invoking "xm". I have found in some sites that the solution is to rename *10_linux* into *50_linux*, however if I do this, whenever I reboot my computer, the memtest starts (so I have to reset the previous grub configuration through a live cd). I am aware that it might be a silly question, but does anyone have a workaround?

  Looking to do my first offline defrag this weekend on Exchange 2003. Our Exchange DB is on E drive and server1 is the temporary location where there is sufficient space. Dismount the store and change to c:\program files\exchsrvr\bin Does this look like the correct command to run? eseutil /d "e:\exchdata\priv1.edb /t"\\server1\exchtemp\tempdfg.edb" Is there anything I should be aware of such as backups running at the same time etc?

  I'm aware of the various options for setting the "run as administrator" flag, and for opening an Admin console Windows. But what if I have a normal console window and I want to run a command as admin?
