  • Why are interfaces unusable in PHP?

    - by streetparade
I mean an interface definition without defining the return type makes it unusable? This makes more Clear Interface run { public function getInteger(); } class MyString implements run { public function myNumber() { } public function getInteger() { return "Not a number"; } } In Java every Interface has a return type like Integer,String,Void I know that PHP is unfortunately a loosly typed Language but isnt there a Solution for that Problem? Is it Possible to defining a Interface with a Return type like Integer?

How do I remove the numbers on the x-axis only not the y-axis? Is it possible to shift the y-axis without shifting the functions? What I mean is, instead of having the y-axis at x = 0, could I have it at x = -5?

  • Google webfonts

    - by Mark
Google webfonts look horrible on windows. What is going on? Is this a temporary problem that will be fixed, or is this just a windows problem that will forever persist? If the latter, doesn't that mean the entire project is sort of useless? Thanks in advance.

  • What kind of data type is this?

    - by mystify
In an class header I have seen something like this: enum { kAudioSessionProperty_PreferredHardwareSampleRate = 'hwsr', // Float64 kAudioSessionProperty_PreferredHardwareIOBufferDuration = 'iobd' // Float32 }; Now I wonder what data type such an kAudioSessionProperty_PreferredHardwareSampleRate actually is? I mean this looks like plain old C, but in Objective-C I would write @"hwsr" if I wanted to make it a string. I want to pass such an "constant" or "enum thing" as argument to an method.

  • Check mysql_query results if DELETE query worked?

    - by Camran
I have a DELETE query which deletes a record from a mysql db. is there any way to make sure if the delete was performed or not? I mean, for a query to FIND stuff you do $res=mysql_query($var); $nr=mysql_num_rows($res); and you get nr of rows returned. Is there any similiar method for deletion of records? Thanks

  • A question about c/c++ syntax

    - by user198729
I don't have the c++ environment yet right now. It seems to me that a function must be declared/defined first to be called in c. I mean, the declared/defined part should be ahead of the calling part. Is it the same in c++? Finally, it seems c++ is adding new features to itself, what about c, has it stopped being developed?

  • how can a __global__ function RETURN a value or BREAK out like C/C++ does

    - by user1684726
Recently i've been doing string comparing jobs on CUDA, and i wonder how can a global function return a value when it finds the exact string that i'm looking for. I mean, i need the global function which contains a great amout of threads to find a certain string among a big big string-pool simultaneously, and i hope that once the exact string is caught, the global funtion can stop all the threads and return back to the main funtion, and tells me "he did it"! B.T.W., I'm using CUDA C .How could i possibly achieve that, waiting for help.

  • Creating a good search solution

    - by Daniel
I have an app where users have a role,a username, faculty and so on.When I'm looking for a list of users by their role or faculty or anything they have in common I can call (among others possible) @users = User.find_by_role(params[:role]) #or @users = User.find_by_shift(params[:shift]) So it keeps the system Class.find_by_property So the question is: What if at different points users lists should be generated based on different properties.I mean: I'm passing from different links params[:role] or params[:faculty] or params[:department] to my list action in my users controller. As I see it all has to be in that action, but which parameter should the search be made by?

  • When I do ""+1 I get a String - Why

    - by steve
Hi, Please understand firstly that I fully understand that Java will return a String when I use ""+int. What I'm really not sure about is what exactly is happening down at the memory aspect. How exactly is java performing this conversion. I mean this in a very indepth way, not 'auto boxing' or anything like that :) I'm hoping someone with a deeper understanding can explain what exactly is done.

  • Problem installing build-essential and upgrading g++ on Ubuntu 8.04

    - by ehsanul
I'm having some trouble with dependencies it seems, but myself don't really know how to resolve the issue. Here's the output: ~:) sudo apt-get install build-essential Reading package lists...
