    Im trying to navigate an XML block similar to this one ($doc) using PHP simplexml_load_string and using xpath on $doc to get only the 'Day' block like this: $myday = $doc->xpath ('//Day'); that lets me access all data from the block as an object, meaning $doc-AdultCount returns 1 and $doc-Id returns "6a0" however I can't access "SpecialDeals" content not using: $doc-SpecialDeals nor using: $doc-SpecialDeals-a:string Whats is the right syntax in this case?   • Objective-C inheritance; calling overriden method from superclass?

    Hello, I have an Objective-C class that has a method that is meant to be overridden, which is uses in a different method. Something like this: @interface BaseClass - (id)overrideMe; - (void)doAwesomeThings; @end @implementation BaseClass - (id)overrideMe { [self doesNotRecognizeSelector:_cmd]; return nil; } - (void)doAwesomeThings { id stuff = [self overrideMe]; /* do stuff */ } @end @interface SubClass : BaseClass @end @implementation SubClass - (id)overrideMe { /* Actually do things */ return <something>; } @end However, when I create a SubClass and try to use it, it still calls overrideMe on the BaseClass and crashes due to doesNotRecognizeSelector:. (I'm not doing a [super overrideMe] or anything stupid like that). Is there a way to get BaseClass to call the overridden overrideMe?

However, I would have thought that using lock (syncRoot) would not make sense because syncRoot refers to the current instance that this method is operating on... but this is a static method? How does this make sense?

    I know how the push() and pop() methods in a typical implementation of a Queue/Linked List work but what I do want to know is what you actually define as a push or a pop? When can you name a method push()/pop()? What makes the insert()/add() method in a typical Tree implementation not a push()? My understanding is that push()ing means putting something to a position some special pointer is pointing to, and pop()ping an element means putting some object away some pointer is pointing to, but it doesn't seem to be clearly defined. Or does the naming matter at all?

    Say I somehow got an object reference from an other class: Object myObj = anObject; Now I can get the class of this object: Class objClass = myObj.getClass(); Now, I can get all constructors of this class: Constructor[] constructors = objClass.getConstructors(); Now, I can loop every constructor: if (constructors.length > 0) { for (int i = 0; i < constructors.length; i++) { System.out.println(constructors[i]); } } This is already giving me a good summary of the constructor, for example a constructor public Test(String paramName) is shown as public Test(java.lang.String) Instead of giving me the class type however, I want to get the name of the parameter.. in this case "paramName". How would I do that? I tried the following without success: if (constructors.length > 0) { for (int iCon = 0; iCon < constructors.length; iCon++) { Class[] params = constructors[iCon].getParameterTypes(); if (params.length > 0) { for (int iPar = 0; iPar < params.length; iPar++) { Field fields[] = params[iPar].getDeclaredFields(); for (int iFields = 0; iFields < fields.length; iFields++) { String fieldName = fields[i].getName(); System.out.println(fieldName); } } } } } Unfortunately, this is not giving me the expected result. I was just thinking if it is possible to write a piece of code-template that will return me a list of all private field in the class separated by && operator in Visual Stuudio?   • In Python, is there a way to call a method on every item of an iterable? [closed]

    Possible Duplicate: Is there a map without result in python? I often come to a situation in my programs when I want to quickly/efficiently call an in-place method on each of the items contained by an iterable. (Quickly meaning the overhead of a for loop is unacceptable). A good example would be a list of sprites when I want to call draw() on each of the Sprite objects. I know I can do something like this: [sprite.draw() for sprite in sprite_list] But I feel like the list comprehension is misused since I'm not using the returned list. The same goes for the map function. Stone me for premature optimization, but I also don't want the overhead of the return value. What I want to know is if there's a method in Python that lets me do what I just explained, perhaps like the hypothetical function I suggest below: do_all(sprite_list, draw)

I am trying to add a Silverlight control to my Existing ASP.NET project where i used to add reference to my Business Logic Project and access methods from My UI pages of ASP.NET Web application. Now I have added one Silverlight project to my solution. How can I use the already existing BL method which is in a C# class library ? When tried to add reference, it is saying that "You can only add project reference to other silver light projects in the solution". Should i give up ? Is there any way to get rid of this ?

    I find myself adding debugging "print" statements quite often -- stuff like this: print("a_variable_name: %s" % a_variable_name) How do you all do that? Am I being neurotic in trying to find a way to optimize this? I may be working on a function and put in a half-dozen or so of those lines, figure out why it's not working, and then cut them out again. Have you developed an efficient way of doing that? I'm coding Python in Emacs.

    Hi, I have approx. 30000 files (1MB each) which I want to put into a native method, which requires just an byte array and the size of it as arguments. I looked through some examples and benchmarks (like http://nadeausoftware.com/articles/2008/02/java_tip_how_read_files_quickly) but all of them do some other fancy things. Basically I don't care about the contents of the file, I don't want to access something in that file or the byte array or do anything else with it. I just want to put a file into a native method which accepts an byte array as fast as possible. At the moment I'm using RandomAccessFile, but that's horribly slow (10MB/s). Is there anything like byte[] readTheWholeFile(File file){ ... } which I could put into native void fancyCMethod(readTheWholeFile(myFile), myFile.length()) What would you suggest?

    I want to generate Entity Framework 4.0 classes from a (legacy) database from a command line, but I have 2 transformations I want: Tables/columns are lowerCamelCase and I want my classes/members to be UpperCamelCase. I want to suffix my classes with "Dto". Any idea how this might be accomplished? I'm a total newbie to EF, but I have a decent understanding of Linq to Sql and was able to accomplish the same task by doing: sqlmetal - dbml - xml mapping file and .cs file.

Everything works fine, except that the name of the file shown to the final user in the File Cabinet does not include the original spaces nor the extension separator (.)     I'm trying to load an assembly that was installed as part of .Net 3.5 SP1 using Assembly.Load() by referencing its strong name. This works fine on my computer right now, but is it future proof? Will the strong name of core .Net assemblies change when patches are installed or new versions of the .Net framework are released? If so, how can I load an assembly from the GAC without using it's strong name?

    I have a PHP page that queries a DB to populate a form for the user to modify the data and submit. The query returns a number of rows which contain 3 items: ImageID ImageName ImageDescription The PHP page titles each box in the form with a generic name and appends the ImageID to it. Ie: ImageID_03 ImageName_34 ImageDescription_22 As it's unknown which images are going to have been retrieved from the DB then I can't know in advance what the name of the form entries will be. The form deals with a large number of entries at the same time. My backend PHP form processor that gets the data just sees it as one big array: [imageid_2] => 2 [imagename_2] => _MG_0214 [imageid_10] => 10 [imagename_10] => _MG_0419 [imageid_39] => 39 [imagename_39] => _MG_0420 [imageid_22] => 22 [imagename_22] => Curly Fern [imagedescription_2] => Wibble [imagedescription_10] => Wobble [imagedescription_39] => Fred [imagedescription_22] => Sally I've tried to do an array walk on it to split it into 3 arrays which set places but am stuck: // define empty arrays $imageidarray = array(); $imagenamearray = array(); $imagedescriptionarray = array(); // our function to call when we walk through the posted items array function assignvars($entry, $key) { if (preg_match("/imageid/i", $key)) { array_push($imageidarray, $entry); } elseif (preg_match("/imagename/i", $key)) { // echo " ImageName: $entry"; } elseif (preg_match("/imagedescription/i", $key)) { // echo " ImageDescription: $entry"; } } array_walk($_POST, 'assignvars'); This fails with the error: array_push(): First argument should be an array in...   • Why Controller doesn't recognize a public method which (yet) appears in the intellisense ?

    Hello, I'm using an helper class that I called CreateEditOrganizationService where I put all the helper methods. In my controller, I've createService as object of that class. So far, I've got 5 methods. Now, I've just defined a 6th method called Set_TypeOrganization. I'm getting the Set_TypeOrganization in the intellisense, but after I've chose it, I get the following error: *CreateEditOrganizationService does not contain a definition for Set_TypeOrganization are you missing a directive or a reference?* public List<TypeOrganization> Set_TypeOrganization(string choice) { //Definition goes here... } and in my Controller CreateEditOrganizationService createService = new CreateEditOrganizationService(); //... ViewData["TypeOrganizations"] = createService.Set_TypeOrganization(choice); Unfortunately, VS shows me the error? Yet, the method appear in the intellisense when I type a dot after the createService object. Thannks for helping
