  Hello, I need help with compiling midnight commander so that I can make some changes (for educational purposes). Or even creating the make files. After downloading latest version from git. I try to perform ./autogen.sh . • Is there a ".d" directory to use to load modules at boot time, opposed to /etc/modules?

  I am automating some configurations on my systems using Puppet. For a group of machines I want to load a kernel module at boot time. The most elegant way seems to edit /etc/modules and add one on an individual line. However, I would like to use separate files in a ".d" directory structure for easier maintainability. For modprobe and specifying the options for modules, there's /etc/modprobe.d/, but what's the most elegant way for actually loading modules at boot time using a single new file? Basically, I'm looking for the non-existing /etc/modules.d/ directory. Any suggestions?

• How to make custom libraries accessible?

  I am trying to compile and install every custom module under it's own designated folder. (ex: /myApps/myLinux/compiled_app) I had luck with python so far, where my python is compiled from source and lives in: /myApps/myLinux/python2.5 and "python2.5" - /myApps/myLinux/python2.5.6-gcc463 so I can access this python through a wrapper script that sets the right environment. The question is recently I had to compile and add something called gperf3.0.4. So now it lives: /myApps/myLinux/gperf3.0 and "gperf3.0" - /myApps/myLinux/gperf3.0.4-gcc463 The question is: How will I point to this lib if some other app needs to access it? Is it done through the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable? Thanks.

• Ubuntu boots into tty1 after driver downgrade

  Earlier today I downgraded the driver for my nvidia 240 GT from version 310 to version 304 using ubuntus "additional drivers" utility. After the install I rebooted but instead of opening unity and allowing me to login it booted into tty1 instead. After using the "startx" command I got the message, "nvidia: API mismatch: the nvidia kernel module has version 310.14, but this nvidia driver component has version 304.43." What can I do to solve this? Edit: Solved my own problem by purging all nvidia packaged and reinstalling my drivers.

  Say my company is going to build a complicated asp.net web form education system. One of the module is web based registration. To make it flexiable, we decide to use user control(ascx) with rule-engine (work flow) regulating all business logic behide them. Thus in future,for different clients, we can simply config basic existing rules or adding new rules.(Rules stored in db or XML per client). Now the question is how to deal with the user controls (ascx)? My opinion is for different client build diffrent user control from scratch. other voice is like reuse existing user controls.

• I Need a recommendation for a CMS application with ECommerce

  Does anyone have any recommendation for an open source solution for a robust CMS application that has a fully featured ECommerce module? I have been looking into Drupal with Ubercart -- but it looks like Ubercart is not fully up to speed with Drupal 7, and the other modules for Ecommerce don't look as robust. The CMS system should support CMIS as both client and server, and be able to run in a cloud computing environment. The system could be written in any standard web programming language, although Java would be my preference. I'm posting this question here because it seems that all CMS systems provide ECommerce as an afterthought, rather than a core feature.

  I would like to use my laptop as an Access point, so that i can connect my phones through Wifi. I have done this my office laptop T410. I am having T61 with wifi module 4965. The link says something about "master mode", how do i put my T61 wifi-inter4965 in master mode. Can i install madwifi or atheros drivers on it. I am using galaxy S froyo, and it does not support Ad-hoc network. Has anyone tired to achieve this.

  I want to write a php code to be embedded in drupal7 module. I want to call a procedure which can copy the newly generated data in local mysql database to the remote mysql database. When data is inserted in tables 'A' of my local data base it should be copied to the specific table 'B' of the remote mysql server's database. Table 'A' is on local host.   I am wondering when to use mixins? I have read about them. Many authors compare them to interfaces, abstract classes, etc. Mixins are modules that are mixed-in and modules are a way to group similar methods, constants and classes together. I have seen examples where a module for math functions is created. It makes sense to group and reuse such functions but should I only mix these in a class if I am faced with an inheritance situation? Should I mix these in anytime I want to use them in a class? Should they be used exactly like interfaces in other languages or are there other subtleties?

  When I click on the Help Center Icon in the 'System' menu, it takes more than a minute to launch the program. More than a minute, for a text only program seeming like a website!   I have forgotten a slang programming term. This thing is an intentional bug or a decoy feature used as a distraction. An example usage, "Hey Bob, QA is doing a review today. Put a $THING into the module so they actually have a problem to find". This can be used negatively, to have a very obvious intentional flaw to discover as a distraction from a real problem. This can also be used positively. Its like how you always let rescue dogs 'find' a victim when searching a disaster area. It can also be used to verify that a QA process is actually catching flaws. What is the term I am looking for?

  Hey... its XMAS Eve and something is bugging me... yes, I have work on my mind even when I am on holiday. The vast amount of frameworks available for PHP now use MVC. Even ASP.net has its own MVC module. I can see the attraction of MVC, I really can and I use it frequently. The only downside that I can see is that you have to fire up the whole system to execute a page request. Depending on your task this can be a little wasteful. So the question. In a professional environment is this the only way to use PHP nowadays or are their other design methods which have alternative benefits?

  I am trying to force all traffic on my web site to use HTTPS, using the URL Rewrite 2.0 module added to IIS 7.5. I got that working and now have a need to exclude a couple of pages from using SSL. So I need a rule to rewrite all URL except those referencing this folder to HTTPS. I've been banging my head against the wall on this and am hoping someone can help.   I run Ubuntu 10.10 on my Intel D945. My front audio ports don't work in Ubuntu, the rear one does. I never got it working earlier when I had Ubuntu 10.04 but this time I am going to try it again. How can I proceed from here?

• Alps touchpad detected as mouse dell inspiron n5110

  Now I know that this has been asked several times here but I couldn't find any decent solution to it. So I am running the latest Ubuntu on my dell n5110 and my touchpad is detected as a mouse, So I don't have the touchpad options avaliable. can't use multitouch and can't disable it either. I have tried the dkms driver: http://people.canonical.com/~sforshee/alps-touchpad/psmouse-alps-0.10/ but when installing it with dpkg I get the following error: ERROR (dkms apport): unable to determine source package for psmouse-alps-dkms Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 3.2.0-25-generic-pae (i686) Consult /var/lib/dkms/psmouse-alps/0.10/build/make.log for more information. I have installed all the updates as well. Can someone help me out with this issue?

• Where to find Joomla components for 1.0.X?

  I need to add new functionality to an old Joomla 1.0.15 installation. To be concrete, I need to add a component that allows me to add custom javascript to my content. I know that there is the option to edit the html source of the content but I rather would like to use a module for this. So I see two options (correct me if there are more): Update Joomla to at least version 1.5 (From some forum posts I found out that can be somewhat complicated). I don't know if it is worth the effort since new functionality requirements come rarely (and I think my client doesn't want to pay for a Joomla version update). Find an appropriate component and leave the old installation as it is. Can anyone point me into the right direction?

  Can anybody point me to some resources about "cutting algorithm"? The problem: have rods with length of L meters, e.g. 6 m need cut smaller pieces of different lengths, e.g. need: 4 x 1.2m 8 x 0,9m etc... (many other lengths and counts) How to determine the optimal cutting, what will produce the minimum wasted material? I'm capable write an perl program, but haven't any idea about the algorithm. (if here is already some CPAN module what can help, would be nice). Alternatively, if someone can point me to some "spreadsheet" solution, or to anything what helps. Ps: in addition, need care about the "cutting line width" too, whats means than from the 6m long rod is impossible to cut 6 x 1m, because the cutting itself takes "3mm" width, so it is possible cut only 5 x 1m and the last piece will be only 98.5 cm (1m minus 5 x 3mm cut-width) ;(.

  I want to implement an in memory datastore for a web service in Haskell. I want to run transactions in the stm monad. When I google hash table steam Haskell I only get this: Data. BTree. HashTable. STM. The module name and complexities suggest that this is implemented as a tree. I would think that an array would be more efficient for mutable hash tables. Is there a reason to avoid using an array for an STM hashtable? Do I gain anything with this stem hash table or should I just use a steam ref to an IntMap?
