  How to run node.js on host with linux platform? To run node.js on localhost with windows operation system is simple I download package from nodejs.org/download/ and I execute Windows Installer (.msi) I go to console command line and I type node file.js and everything fine. but in my host with linux platform I have control panel with no option to run type file exe, msi and there is no window with command line, So how can I be able to run nodejs on my host?   I am trying to setup phpMyAdmin to use with a remote MySQL databases on Scientific Linux release 6.2. If I use the mysql command line to connect to the remote database it works great but if I use mysqladmin I am getting "#2002 Cannot log in to the MySQL server". I have found if I do a: setenforce 0 It will work from myphpadmin to my remote database but once I reboot or set Scientific Linux setenforce back to one it stops working again.. I know setenforce 0 is not the right thing to do but can someone please give me details steps on how to get this working the right way... thanks I am new to Scientific Linux and been having some issues.. thanks

• Everytime I ping my server, it is pinging localhost instead?

  I recently setup a new server for use with SQL. When I tried to connect via SSMS remotely, it failed. When I pinged it, it is pinging localhost, what is going on here? Please let me know if more details will help. It is Windows Server 2008.   I've encountered some network behaviour that confuses me while trying to get Java RMI working. I use netcat to connect to a local machine: [my_machine]$ nc -w 1 192.168.0.100 60000 && echo success success I try to do the same to my server: [my_machine]$ nc -w 1 my-servers-ip 60000 && echo success This doesn't work, unless I explicitly listen on the server socket: [amazon_ec2]$ nc -l 60000 [my_machine]$ nc -w 1 my-servers-ip 60000 && echo success success For the version that fails, the SYN packet receives a RST, ACK in response. I'm not too knowledgable about this stuff, at this point I only have wild theories such as the one in the question. Any ideas?   I set up a server with Postfix/Dovecot on Linode/Ubuntu 10.04 according to this guide, admittedly I've never done this before. Local mail works just fine, but trying to send email to it from external addresses results in errors like this: Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently: <address>@ni-mate.com Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 553 553 Unknown recipient. (state 13). I honestly have no idea what to do or which configuration files/logs anyone needs to see.

Symptoms: From a domain-member Windows 7 Client: Domain credentials to a domain controller = success Domain credentials to a member server (by hostname or FQDN) = success Domain credentials to a member server (by IP) = fail Local credentials to a member server (by either) = success From a non-domain-member Windows 7 Client: Domain credentials to a domain controller = success Domain credentials to a member server = fail Local credentials to a member server = success (Identical behavior from a Mac RDC 2.1 client) Server Configuration Details: Windows 2008 R2 Datacenter w/ SP1 The domain in question is a subdomain of a Windows 2008 domain (forest root). Root has DCs in both Site A and Site B, subdomain only has DCs in Site B. RDP is operating normally on all root member-servers and DCs. No remote desktop settings are defined by GPOs. Network level authentication is enabled; all clients are compatible and the certificate exchange/SSL handshake completes successfully. Not catching any errors in netlogon log.

  I have a very strange question today - how do I share my dial up internet (yeah I know you are gonna say that is slow but broadband internet isn't available in my area), so dial up and 3G connection is all I got. I also have a Vodafone USB 3G modem that picks up 3G network, I am planning to use my Vodafone 3G modem in the day since I have free dial up internet from 7:00 pm in the night untill 7am the next morning.   I am trying to setup a MySQL server and when I went to create a second user it wouldn't give it permissions for the database. I can connect fine as long as I don't specify a database. Access denied for user 'user'@'localhost' to database 'diddata' The connection details are: { 'host' : 'localhost', 'user' : 'user', 'password' : 'password' , 'database': 'diddata' }; And to create the DB and table I did: CREATE DATABASE IF NOT exists diddata; CREATE USER 'user'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'password'; GRANT ALL ON user.* TO 'user'@'localhost'; Note that I've changed the username and password in this question. I've already checked the privileges in MySQL workbench and they are there.

• How can I view and sort after the page count for multiple PDF files in a Windows file explorer?

  I unsuccessfully used the "pages" feature in Windows Explorer, as well as in Directory Opus 10 and Free Commander XT (which I installed just for that reason, to try it out) to display the page count of multiple PDFs in a folder. All my PDF's are free to edit, i.e. not write-protected. I don't understand why any PDF reader can display the (correct) page number, but none of the file explorers can? (In the "details" view of course.) The only documents whose page count is displayed are MS Word documents. Do I have to use Adobe Bridge? (I didn't try it.) On a side-note: Did that change in Windows 8? Initial research: Google search was unsuccessful, the only slightly related SE topic I found was "How to count pages in multiple PDF files?".

• Problem with Win7 connecting to Internet

  Hello, I have had Windows 7 for about a year now and for the first four months it worked perfectly. But for the last 8 months it has been horrible. It will connect to the Internet for about 5 minutes and then just lose connection. It will reconnect in about 5 minues but then it just keeps disconnecting. I ran a virus scan about 2 weeks ago and I found a Trojan on my PC which I removed and dealt with. It was fine after that but now for these last couple days it has been just as bad as before. I think a virus is causing this but I will read any suggestions and tips to help me solve this problem. Thank you. • Load-balanced Linux server across internet?

  I'm investigating setting up a load balanced server solution consisting of three CentOS 5.4 boxes. Two of these boxes will reside in one facility, while a third will reside in a different facility. I'm currently working to set up heartbeat, ldirectord, ipvsadm to load-balance the machines, but I'm not sure its going to work with I'm not overly familiar with the details behind how all of these work, but is the load balancing going to work correctly when these servers are not all on the same LAN? I'm not sure if heartbeat is using SNMP to send signals or not, which would only work over a LAN. Has anyone tried this or found a different solution?

  Over the past two days I have been receiving the following message on a new computer running Windows 7: Account exceeded bandwidth limits. (Failure) Whenever I try to access my emails through Thunderbird, this is followed by: Login to server imap.gmail.com failed. Credentials are correct as I have access via HTTP. And then it requests me to enter my password (I have also unlocked the captcha on this account, but this didn't stop any error messages) I'm looking for a details on why this is happening, to prevent it from reoccurring, such as whether this is specific to something in Thunderbird 3 or google?

• Giving SSH access to a user, and security issues.

  Okay, so I have a VPS and I made an account for a friend so he can host his own domains (using the reseller features in DirectAdmin). He's asking for SSH access, and I know that this is probably a bad idea. Does he have access to my whole server, such as executing commands, accessing my domains that I host on my server? I logged into my SSH using his account details and it let me navigate around all of the root folders/files, and his account is under /home/AccountName/. Is there anyway to restrict his access to his folder only? And the commands he can use?

• DNS issues on my iPhone

  I'm trying to call up "https://m.google.com" on my iPhone on my home WiFi. It's saying Safari "cannot verify server identity" of m.google.com, then when I press Details, it refers to https://m.google.com as "mattserver". "mattserver" is the name of my development server, a Linux box on my home network. This stinks of DNS issues to me. Accessing the unsecure version of that URL ("http://m.google.com") gives me a blank page. What could be going on here? Is there a way to look at the logs of my router somehow?

• XP Laptop Restarting

  I have a Dell 1525 which I reinstalled xp on recently due to a hard disk problem. Apparently I've missed something, it's taken to restarting for no apparent reason (I believe it's too frequent for windows updates which was my first thought). Last night it was particularly bad, it stopped 5 times in 2 hours while playing an online game. I can't actually think of a time it's happened when it's not running something in full screen mode. I can't see anything in the event log apart from usual start up details. How can I find and fix this issue?

  I recently got my laptop stolen with some sensitive informations on it (personal source code, bank details in a secure file, passwords, etc) and I learnt the lesson: encrypt your sensitive data. Now, I am wondering what are the options to encrypt a partition (not an encrypt disk image) ? Aim: The aim is to prevent anyone (except me) to access those data. Requirement 0: The software must be able to encrypt non system partition. Requirement 1: Plausible deniability is required but preventing cold boot attack is however not an absolute requirement (I am not famous enough or have sensitive enough info to have this kind of requirement). Requirement 2 : Software taking advantage of AES hardware encryption are very welcome as I intent to get a Macbook Pro with i7 CPU (with AES-NI enabled instructions). I will have avirtual machine running in the encrypted partition. Requirement 3 : Free or reasonably cheap. Requirement 4 : Software must run on Mac OS X Snow Leopard or Lion.   I'm looking for a tool where I can list the servers to check, the location of the file and it would return a list of the most common errors across those servers (say like 2 or 3 servers for report brevity) and get a report something like this Server.A Server.B Server.C -------- -------- -------- 42 error.X 39 error.X 61 error.X 21 error.Y 7 error.Y 5 error.A 17 error.B 6 error.A 4 error.Y 4 error.A 2 error.R 3 error.S 3 error.R 1 error.S 1 error.R Of course, excluding timestamps and other error details and just grepping out the common sub-strings and listing them like so. I'd be able to look at the table and see that error.B is unique to Server.A and conclude that there is something up with Server.A. Does something like this already exist? Is this something I'll have to code myself? I'm not necessarily looking for this specific report, just the functionality to find unique errors across a set of error logs.

  I have a virtual directory in my web app which connects to a Samba share via UNC. I can browse the files via Windows Explorer without issue, but my web app throws a yellow screen with the following message: Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately. Parser Error Message: An error occurred loading a configuration file: Could not find file '\cluster\cms\qa-images\120400\web.config'. What makes no sense to me is why it's looking for a web.config in that location. I know it's not an authentication issue because the virtual directory can serve images from its root (i.e. \cluster\cms\qa-images\test.jpg serves as http://myserver/upload/test.jpg just fine).

• Broken screen on laptop?

  I recently damaged the screen on my HP Notebook...now my main concern is that I have Roboform installed and on my taskbar. The trouble is, because the screen is totaled, I can't see anything, and I discovered, to my horror, that I haven't backed any of the IDs and passwords up to a text document. Of course, I cannot access any of my content that hosts an ID name and password at all unless I can access Roboform that is installed on the notebook! Now hopefully I have ordered a SATA/USB cable to access the hard drive that I now removed form the notebook will I be able to access roboform that way and ALL the log-in details?

So, I have to apply http://username:password@proxyIp:port/ bash configure file(suppose for wget or curl) or manually entering details for every graphical application (like gtalk).And also if I work with localhost (XAMPP), I have to configure XAMPP, and so on. • time on files differ by 1 sec. FAIL Robocopy sync

  I am trying to use Robocopy to sync (/IMG) a folder on my PC and a shared network drive. The problem is that the file attributes differ by 1 sec on both locations (creation,modified and access). So every time I run robocopy, it syncs the file again... BTW, problem is the same if I delete the target file and robocopy it from new... still, new file has 1 sec different properties. Env Details: Source: Win 7 64 bit Target: WD My Book World Edition NAS 1TB which takes its time from online NTP pool.ntp.org (I don't know if file system is FAT or not)

• Dual Monitors don't turn off/sleep when they should

  Details: Dual 25" monitors connected to HP Envy via HDMI and display port via DVI adapter. Power scheme is set up in high performance (Dim Display: Never - Turn Off Display: 15 mins - Computer Sleep: Never) Screensaver is set up to kick in after 10 mins of idle (which happens) 5 minutes later, the screensaver stops. The "Monitor Going to Sleep" notice appears on screen and monitors go to sleep briefly. All is well thus far. Suddenly, the Windows 7 alert sound when a device is unplugged is heard. Monitors then turn back on. Screens are black. Only the mouse cursor is displayed. Backlighting is back on. This only started happening after I obtained and connected the second 25" monitor a few days ago. However, I had a 24" in its place before, and this wasn't happening. Why is this happening and how do I correct this behavior? Thanks in advance.
