• Problem referencing querystring using fb:req-choice

  Hi all, I am building a small facebook application. I am using asp.net and currently working with the fb:req-choice control (tied along with fb:request-form and fb:multi-friend-selector). Problem is, that when I specify the redirect url for when the user clicks my invitation, instead of getting what I specified: http://apps.facebook.com/myApp/forum.aspx?tId=1&ref=app&code=2.74rRNejG7tpAOqgDCNf8qA__.3600.1275202400-106570384737670%7CPi8JpoHDW3xGuq2lxdZl1d4CLUU. This is what I am getting: http://apps.facebook.com/myApp/forum.aspx?tId&code=2.74rRNejG7tpAOqgDCNf8qA__.3600.1275202400-106570384737670%7CPi8JpoHDW3xGuq2lxdZl1d4CLUU. as you can see my query string isn't getting parsed. Instead, only the first parameter is written, why is that? How can I get this right?

• VB .Net - Reflection: Reflected Method from a loaded Assembly executes before calling method. Why?

  When I am loading an Assembly dynamically, then calling a method from it, I appear to be getting the method from Assembly executing before the code in the method that is calling it. It does not appear to be executing in a Serial manner as I would expect. Can anyone shine some light on why this might be happening. Below is some code to illustrate what I am seeing, the code from the some.dll assembly calls a method named PerformLookup. For testing I put a similar MessageBox type output with "PerformLookup Time: " as the text. • UpdateAllViews() from within a worker thread?

  I have a worker thread in a class that is owned by a ChildView. (I intend to move this to the Doc eventually.) When the worker thread completes a task I want all the views to be updated. How can I make a call to tell the Doc to issue an UpdateAllViews()? Or is there a better approach? Thank you. Added by OP: I am looking for a simple solution. The App is running on a single user, single CPU computer and does not need network (or Internet) access. There is nothing to cause a deadlock. I think I would like to have the worker thread post (or send) a message to cause the views to update. Everything I read about threading seems way more complicated than what I need - and, yes, I understand that all those precautions are necessary for applications that are running in multiprocessor, multiuser, client-server systems, etc. But none of those apply in my situation. I am just stuck at getting the right combination of getting the window handle, posting the message and responding to the message in the right functions and classes to compile and function at all.

• Flex datagrid multiple rows single file

  Hi, I have a flex datagrid with 3 columns. The first column contains the image name(unique key). The other two columns have username and size details. I want to split the username into lastname, firstname, address and some other stuff. Can we have multiple rows in the grid for one image? Tried multi-line, it works but we need to keep adding spaces and its cumbersome. Since each row in the flex datagrid is represented by one index in the XMLList which is enumerated, is there a way to have more than one row assigned to one image and shown in the grid? something like this.. • Creating a MSI patch (.msp) by hand?

  Our team has recently been considering pushing out a minor registry fix to users to modify one particular problematic key. Pretty straightforward stuff, just needed to update 1 key/value inside the registry. So at the moment, we are using Wix to build .msi installers for the product. While looking into Wix's support for generating .msp patch files, it seems that the only way to create an .msp is a somewhat overcomplicated multi-step process to: Get a copy of the original MSI, and compile a new copy of the fixed MSI Write a new Wix file that points to both installers Compile the Wix file into a .wixobj with Candle to a .psp Run Torch/Pyro over before/after snapshots of the original installers and the .psp, or alternatively using MsiMsp.exe Now my question is, can't I simply describe the registry change into a Wix file and directly compile it into the .msp, without step 1 and 4 - which is a huge amount of effort for just a simple change?

  Hi there, I extended a ModelAdmin with a custom field "Download file", which is a link to a URL in my Django project, like: http://www.myproject.com/downloads/1 There, I want to serve a file which is stored in a S3-bucket. The files in the bucket are not public readable, and the user may not have direct access to it. Now I want to avoid that the file has to be loaded in the server memory (these are multi-gb-files) avoid to have temp files on the server The ideal solution would be to let django act as a proxy that streams S3-chunks directly to the user. I use boto, but did not find a possibility to stream the chunks. Any ideas? Thanks.

• Keyboard in HTML text-input disappear when WebView call 'loadUrl' again

  Hi there, I use WebView for my Androind App. I got a problem and request a solution for help. There is a textfield in the HTML page. When it gets 'focus' and then I call mWebView.setFocusableInTouchMode(true); in Java code so that the Android soft-keyboard will pop-up to let me key in. The problem is I need using multi-thread for some processes in Java and call mWebView.loadUrl(strJSCall); as callback to execute JavaScript function, but the keyboard gets hidden! The way I try is to force the keyboard to show again. But how can the keyboard always show when 'loadUrl' is called? Dose anyone meet the same issue and solve it already? Sincerely, Jr.

• Unique identifiers for users

  If I have a table of a hundred users normally I would just set up an auto-increment userID column as the primary key. But if suddenly we have a million users or 5 million users then that becomes really difficult because I would want to start becoming more distributed in which case an auto-increment primary key would be useless as each node would be creating the same primary keys. Is the solution to this to use natural primary keys? I am having a real hard time thinking of a natural primary key for this bunch of users. The problem is they are all young people so they do not have national insurance numbers or any other unique identifier I can think of. I could create a multi-column primary key but there is still a chance, however miniscule of duplicates occurring. Does anyone know of a solution? Thanks

One idea would be to wait with the assertion until I get some event notification that my app has been stopped.

• Selenium tests not building due to NUnit error (Mono+OS X)

  I'm running Selenium RC on my Mac and driving my tests using NUnit in C#. My problem is that when I try and build a simple test in Mono I get the following error.   I have a "sync" task that relies on several "sub-tasks", which include asynchronous network operations, but which all require access to a single NSManagedObjectContext. Due to the threading requirements of NSManagedObjectContexts, I need every one of these sub-tasks to execute on the same thread. Due to the amount of processing being done in some of these tasks, I need them to be on a background thread. At the moment, I'm launching a new thread by doing this in my singleton SyncEngine object's -init method: [self performSelectorInBackground:@selector(initializeSyncThread) withObject:nil]; The -initializeSyncThread method looks like this: - (void)initializeSyncThread { self.syncThread = [NSThread currentThread]; self.managedObjectContext = [(MyAppDelegate *)[UIApplication sharedApplication].delegate createManagedObjectContext]; NSRunLoop *runLoop = [NSRunLoop currentRunLoop]; [runLoop run]; } Is this the correct way to start up the NSRunLoop for this thread? Is there a better way to do it? The run loop only needs to handle 'performSelector' sources, and it (and its thread) should be around for the lifetime of the process. When it comes to setting up an NSAutoreleasePool, should I do this by using Run Loop Observers to create the autorelease pool and drain it after every run-through?

• F# Async problem.

  Hi, I've written a dummy http server as an exercise in F#. I'm using Mono 2.4.4 on Ubuntu 10.04 x86_64, with MonoDevelop. The following code fails to compile with the error: Error FS0039: The field, constructor or member 'Spawn' is not defined (FS0039) Could someone try this in VisualStudio please, I don't know whether this is a Mono problem, or my problem. I have tried several Async examples from the F# book, and they also all produce similar messages about Async.* methods. • How do I get all values from a listbox that are not selected in ASP.NET MVC

  Hello, I have a form that (amongst other things) contains 2 multi-select listboxes. Basically you can add items to the one on the right from the full list of items on the left using some add/remove buttons. The problem is that I cannot see a way of picking up the contents of the listbox when posting back to the controller. I have followed this example: http://ittecture.wordpress.com/2009/04/30/tip-of-the-day-198-asp-net-mvc-listbox-controls/ This works fine if you have actually selected the items in the listbox before posting. • Activate different Maven profiles depending on current module?

  We have a multi module build with modules using different technologies, like Java and Flex. Is it somehow possible to activate different profiles based on the module that is compiled currently? I tried it with an activation like <profile> <id>flex</id> <activation> <file> <exists>${basedir}/src/main/flex</exists> </file> </activation> ... </profile But it didn't work, although the use of ${basedir} is documented in the Maven documentation (this is a bug in Maven). Is there a different possibility to have different activations based on the current module? Or does Maven only allow to activate a profile for all modules or not at all?

• How to load a page with its default values after a postback

  I'm creating user controls that i will put into an update panel and make them visible only when required using triggers. Once visible it will float in a dialog box so it has a close button which will just hide the control on client side. The controls have multiple post back states, like a wizard, i'm using a multi view control to accomplish that. My problem is that once the user is at step number two in the control, if the user closes the dialog, than opens the dialog again, (note that the control is made visible on the server and reloaded by updating the updatepanel) the second step will still be displayed. The reason is . because whenever there is a postback the control will load its state using the viewstate, even if EnableViewState is false it will still load it using the LoadControlState method. so my quesion is how can i force a user control to load fresh with its default values without any postback data.

  I am using Reportviewer to generate a sales invoice to be printed by the user. How can I get databound fields to be printed on every page of a multi page invoice? The invoice is printed on a pre-printed form. I want the printed form to look roughly like: page 1 customer john smith 123 main st. city, CA 90000 some item1 $100 some item2 $150 some item3 $150 page 2 customer john smith 123 main st. city, CA 90000 some item4 $500 some item5 $250 some item6 $950 Total $2100 Using 1 list which contains databound textbox fields for the customer info, and a table for the items. The problem is if there are many items such that the items flow over to page 2, the next page only contains items, and not the customer info which needs to be printed on second page as well. I tried using page header, but I can't use databound items in page header. Please Help!

• How to figure out optimal C / Gamma parameters in libsvm?

  I'm using libsvm for multi-class classification of datasets with a large number of features/attributes (around 5,800 per each item). I'd like to choose better parameters for C and Gamma than the defaults I am currently using. I've already tried running easy.py, but for the datasets I'm using, the estimated time is near forever (ran easy.py at 20, 50, 100, and 200 data samples and got a super-linear regression which projected my necessary runtime to take years). Is there a way to more quickly arrive at better C and Gamma values than the defaults? I'm using the Java libraries, if that makes any difference.

• Web App Server hardware question. Which configuration?

  I am pricing some new servers and I am not sure which configuration to get. The server will be running some web applications for our company. Some of them are ASP.Net sites and some are ColdFusion. The OS will be Win Server 2008 Web or Standard Edition. Do I need 2 processors or will a single quad core handle it? Xeon multi core Hyperthreading or non Hyperthreading? I am going 64bit so I can go higher than 4 Gigs of Ram. I am shopping at Dell and there are so many options, i do not want to get too much hardware and not use half of it because that would be a waste of money and I do not want to get too little and have to ask for more money to upgrade it later.

• Swing: what to do when a JTree update takes too long and freezes other GUI elements?

  Hello, everyone! I know that GUI code in Java Swing must be put inside SwingUtilities.invokeAndWait or SwingUtilities.invokeLater. This way threading works fine. Sadly, in my situation, the GUI update it that thing which takes much longer than background thread(s). More specific: I update a JTree with about just 400 entries, nesting depth is maximum 4, so should be nothing scary, right? But it takes sometimes one second! I need to ensure that the user is able to type in a JTextPane without delays. Well, guess what, the slow JTree updates do cause delays for JTextPane during input. It refreshes only as soon as the tree gets updated. I am using Netbeans and know empirically that a Java app can update lots of information without freezing the rest of the UI. How can it be done? NOTE 1: All those DefaultMutableTreeNodes are prepared outside the invokeAndWait. NOTE 2: When I replace invokeAndWait with invokeLater the tree doesn't get updated. NOTE 3: Fond out that recursive tree expansion takes far the most time. NOTE 4: I'm using custom tree cell renderer, will try without and report. NOTE 4a: My tree cell renderer uses a map to cache and reuse created JTextComponents, depending on tree node (as a key). CLUE 1: Wow! Without setting custom cell renderer it's 10 times faster. I think, I'll need few good tutorials on writing custom tree cell renderers.

  Hi all, I have successfully wired up a Facebook Connect application and everything is working fine. I can sign new users up with Facebook, or I can link existing users with Facebook. No problems there. However, now I am trying to add an Invite page, where a user can see which of their Friends have the application, and then show them a Facebook FMBL Multi Select form to invite friends into it. Here is the documentation for that FBML tag. http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Connect/Integrating_an_Invite_Form_into_Your_Website#Creating_a_Full_Multi-friend_Selector_Request_or_Invite However, I cannot get this to work within my Rails view. Do I need to setup something special to use FBML in my Rails views?
