• Connection make b/w iphone to windows pc-rajay [on hold]

  I Need to create connection between ios to windows by using socket programming in ios. I'm trying to to use an application to communicate with Windows via sockets. At the minimum, I'm trying to at least figure out how I can create a connection from the iPhone (maybe using the iPhone to ping the Windows machine?) I'm not really clear on where I need to start. I'm pretty new to iOS development in general, and brand new to socket/network programming. I've tried several tutorials that haven't gotten me far. My goal is: Connect to a server via sockets (the server will be a Windows machine with a service waiting for incoming connections from the iPhone) If possible, I would like to write/build the client piece first, but I have been lost thus far. Hopefully the nice folks in the SO community can lend a hand and point me in the right direction.

• Better php framework for shared hosting

  I need to develop an app for booking appointments. This is gonna be hosted in a shared server. So performance is the most important thing. I have used symfony2. I quite liked the framework. But seems to be heavy. Which framework would suit me considering my requirements? I have shortlisted three frameworks yii, symfony2 and ZF2. I am not asking which framework is better. All the three are good frameworks. I want to know which will suit my requirements. My first priority would be performance (I will be using AJAX wherever possible), second would be maintenance and development time and third community support. Or should I use my own handlers to separate views and logic and just use raw php?

• Can Tutorial "Dual Boot Windows 7 & Ubuntu 12.04" Used for Dual Booting Windows 8 & Ubuntu 12.10?

  I previously used this tutorial to dual boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 perfectly. Now I have upgraded my Windows 7 to Windows 8. And I would like to do a fresh install (and start all over again like the tutorial) of Ubuntu 12.10 replacing existing Ubuntu 12.04. I like the way the tutorial presents thus can anyone kindly let me know if the tutorial is compatible with what I wanna do now? I have tried doing little research whether this has been asked, but all I got are not too similar to my question, if there are topics like this I do apologise and feel free to close it.   I just wanted to say hello and ask a few simple questions. I have recently dove into programming with c# and have been curious what everyone else's experiences have been with when learning and starting out. What are some things that you can say that really have made a difference in your understanding and usages of any particular language? I lurk several forums but for some reason have always just kept to myself, and I've realized today that I'm not fully utilizing my resources when it comes to interacting with the community. With that being said, I realize that everyone that is interested in programming inherently is a natural problem solver and would like also to ask you to share your process of learning. Are you the type to have a short term project to tackle a general set of problems you're likely to encounter? Or are you a type of programmer that practices by zeroing in on a specific few problems you would like to solve? Any reply will be greatly appreciated Thank you :)

• How can I defend Ruby on Rails against customers' not technical opinion?

  My customer, a translations business owner, just told me that he has been reading about Ruby on Rails and told me that "there are more PHP guys around there" and "it seems the community prefers it". What would you, as software engineer and freelancer, say to the customer to achieve these goals: Sell Make him see that the technology is my expert decision and Rails is as good or better than PHP (+ whatever framework) for this particular project. • What is the best way to maintain our programming experiences? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: how do you remember programming related stuff? During my work experiences, I always met many kind of blocking problems with different technologies. When I remember the efforts I spent to find the solutions I become frustrated and want to find a way to keep all in mind. Generally I keep all the project I made in my Hard Drive, and I usually reuse them when I encounter a problem i already encountered. But this is not to really efficient when you reopen your own code and say: Who is the sucker who wrote this code!? I'm thinking to make my own website in which I can post some tutorials / articles about the problems I met and their solutions. So I keep all in mind and help community. Do you think that it will be a good idea or just a loss of time regarding the actual programming forums?

El Dialogo CxO , organizado por Econique, y en el que participó Oracle, tuvo lugar en Madrid en el Hotel Puerta de Ámerica. Este encuentro tenía como objetivo intercambiar opiniones sobre todos los aspectos relacionados con la gestión estratégica de clientes y el Contact Centre. En este marco, los asistentes tuvieron la oportunidad de realizar reuniones “one to one” con nuestros mejores expertos. Además Oracle presentó dos coloquios relacionados con la visión de las "Nuevas necesidades, estrategias y tendencias en la gestión del Marketing", de la mano de Gema Sebastian, Principal Sales Consultant de Oracle. En dichos coloquios los participantes de empresas, como Caprabo, Carrefour, Endesa, Jaguar Land Rover y Repsol (entre otros) trataron temas de máxima actualidad para los directivos de Marketing. Esta mesa redonda se centró sobre todo en el Marketing en redes sociales, compartiendo entre todos nuestra percepción de que es algo necesario pero que todavía el mercado no sabe muy bien cómo tratar. La escucha activa dentro de las redes y la posibilidad de reaccionar ante determinados factores se veía como un claro punto donde comenzar a trabajar de manera activa y donde Oracle puede ayudar. La experiencia de cliente fue otro de los puntos tratados en esta mesa, donde se dejó claro que ahora es el consumidor el que manda, el que quiere ver las cosas donde quiere y como quiere y que un mensaje de marketing ha de darse en el momento adecuado y aportando un valor real para que el consumidor lo acepte como algo interesante. Igualmente Oracle dispone de herramientas para hacer que esto sea posible. Por otro lado, en Lisboa, tenía lugar el Total Training 2012, una conferencia organizada por el Grupo IFE. En ella participaron más de 100 profesionales de los recursos humanos de las empresas más importantes de Portugal y tuvo como base de partida los conocimientos y experiencias, el intercambio de ideas y la discusión de oportunidades a las que actualmente se enfrentan los profesionales de este área. En este marco Oracle realizó una ponencia sobre “Los nuevos conceptos en RRHH”, de la mano de Julio Rodriguez, Principal Sales Consultant de Oracle, y que puso de manifiesto algunos conceptos tecnológicos relevantes para la gestión del talento que por su novedad, no eran muy conocidos por los profesionales de los RRHH cómo: · Saas (Software as a service) · BI (Business Intelligence) para RRHH · Social Networking y cómo integrarla dentro de la empresa · El mapa del talento, por fin fuera del Excel y en una aplicación · La movilidad en las aplicaciones de RRHH. Sin duda, esta fue una jornada cargada de intercambio de experiencias y de conocimientos para dos grandes áreas: los Recursos Humanos y la Gestión Estratégica del cliente. However, when I run the test it will just give me the following: [root@testbox selenium]$ sh run PHPUnit 3.4.12 by Sebastian Bergmann. F Time: 8 seconds, Memory: 5.50Mb There was 1 failure: 1) WebTest::testLandingPage fail /home/root/selenium/WebTest.php:32 FAILURES! Tests: 1, Assertions: 0, Failures: 1. I do not see any screenshot in C:\selenium. I can however get a screenshot with $selenium-captureScreenshot("C:/selenium/image.png"); Any ideas or suggestions most welcome. Thanks

  I basically need to highlight a particular word in a block of text. For example, pretend I wanted to highlight the word "dolor" in this text: <p> Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. </p> <p> Quisque bibendum sem ut lacus. Integer dolor ullamcorper libero. Aliquam rhoncus eros at augue. Suspendisse vitae mauris. </p> How do I convert the above to something like this: <p> Lorem ipsum <span class="myClass">dolor</span> sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. </p> <p> Quisque bibendum sem ut lacus. Integer <span class="myClass">dolor</span> ullamcorper libero. Aliquam rhoncus eros at augue. Suspendisse vitae mauris. </p> Is this possible with jQuery? Edit: As Sebastian pointed out, this is quite possible without jQuery - but I was hoping there might be a special method of jQuery which would let you do selectors on the text itself. I'm already using jQuery heavily on this site, so keeping everything wrapped up in jQuery would make things perhaps a bit more tidy.
