  • ODBC - multiple connections from one app to the same data source

    I vaguely remember reading somewhere (in MSDN ODBC documentation?) that one application cannot make more than one connection to a single data source. It seemed to me that I need one connection that all the threads of the application will have to share. I was trying to look this information up, but I can't seem to find it anymore. Does anyone know/remember how this works? It all might become a problem in our app, since some of its threads will dynamically connect to data sources of their choice. I don't want to see random connection errors if two of them will connect at the same time to one source, so I wanted to double check this info.

  • Nuget and Source Control Files to Exclude?

    I know I should be using nuget more but at this point I don't completely understand the nuances so I still tend to either get source and build the project, then reference the project, or I create my own "dlls" folder and hand copy the dll's in. As part of my learning process, I'm trying to understand what is critical and what is not when using nuget. For example, I've done install-package restsharp and now when I check into source control, I get files like "packages/RestSharp.103.4/lib/net4/RestSharp.xml". I'm assuming that nuget will help me with upgrading and such and it needs to have certain meta data type files. My question is: Should I be ignoring any or all files in the "packages" directory? If so, what and why. Thanks

  • How to access the calling source line from interactive shell

    I want to make a function that can determine the source code of how it was called. I'm aware of how to do this generally with the inspect module. For example, this question, works well and provides my desired output in the lines variable as shown below: def hello(x): frame,filename,line_number,function_name,lines,index=\ inspect.getouterframes(inspect.currentframe())[1] print(frame,filename,line_number,function_name,lines,index) The problem is that this solution doesn't work in an interactive command line session. For example, from a command line, the result looks like: >>> y = hello(7) (<frame object at 0x01ECA9E8>, '<stdin>', 1, '<module>', None, None) The problem is that the source file is '<stdin>', so the lines variable is None. How can I access the calling line to find the result containing the string y = hello(7) during an interactive session?

  • Open Source .NET embedded web/http server

    I am working on a project where I need to embed a web server into my C# application so the application could display it's status via HTTP. I suppose I'll want to configure it through the http also. I am looking for an open-source library written in C# and with a licensing scheme that will allow me to link it into my existing closed source code (LGPL). Any suggestions of specific products or where to look first? It would be great if that product could have some kind of scripting, at least templates. All html output would go from the application, only resources would be stored on the disk (images, icons, ...) EDIT: I would like it to run under .NET 2.0, however.

    I am a lone developer, and I am now using TFS 2010, having until recently used VSS. I have not found it easy to get any books for beginners to help me use this. So I have now got my project in source control. But when I check in I get references to a number of files that I no longer use. How do I remove files from the TFS Source Control repository? So in the example below you can see lots of files from different projects that I do not want to see.

  • Converting John Resig's Templating Engine to work with PHP Templates

    I'm trying to convert the John Resig's new ASP.NET Templating Engine to work with PHP. Essentially what I would like to achieve is the ability to use certain Kohana Views via a JavaScript templating engine, that way I can use the same views for both a standard PHP request and a jQuery AJAX request. I'm starting with the basics and would like to be able to convert http://github.com/nje/jquery-tmpl/blob/master/jquery.tmpl.js To work with php like so... <li><a href="{%= link %}">{%= title %}</a> - {%= description %}</li> <li><a href="<?= $link ?>"><?= $title ?></a> - <?= description ?></li> The RexEx in it is a bit over my head and it's apparently not as easy as changing the %} to ? in lines 148 to 158. Any help would be highly appreciated. I'm also not sure of how to take care of the $ difference that PHP variables have. Thanks, Serhiy

  • Problem with libcurl cookie engine

    [Cross-posted from lib-curl mailing list] I have a single threaded app (MSVC C++ 2005) build against a static LIBCURL 7.19.4 A test application connects to an in house server & performs a bespoke authentication process that includes posting a couple of forms, and when this succeeds creates a new resource (POST) and then updates the resource (PUT) using If-Match. I only use a single connection to libcurl (i.e. only one CURL*) The cookie engine is enabled from the start using curl_easy_setopt(CURLOPT_COOKIEFILE, "") The cookie cache is cleared at the end of the authentication process using curl_easy_setopt(CURLOPT_COOKIELIST, "SESS"). This is required by the authentication process. The next call, which completes a successful authentication, results in a couple of security cookies being returned from the server - they have no expiry date set. The server (and I) expect the security cookies to then be sent with all subsequent requests to the server. The problem is that sometimes they are sent and sometimes they aren't. I'm not a CURL expert, so I'm probably doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what. Running the test app in a loop results shows a random distribution of correct cookie handling. As a workaround I've disabled the cookie engine and am doing basic manual cookie handling. Like this it works as expected, but I'd prefer to use the library if possible. Does anyone have any ideas?     I am creating a search engine for my php based website. I need to search a mysql table. Thing is, the search engine must be pretty 'smart', so that users can easily find their items (it's a classifieds website). I have currently set up a FULLTEXT search with this piece of code: MATCH (headline) AGAINST ($querystring) But this isn't enough... For instance, lets say the field headline contains something like Bmw 330ci. If I search for 330, I wont get any results. The ending ('ci') is just one of many endings in car models which must be taken into account when searching the table. Or what if the headline field is bmw330? Also no results, because it only matches full words. Or also, what if the headline is bmw 330, and I search for bmw 520, still with FULLTEXT I will get the bmw 330 as a result, even though I searched for bmw 520... Not good! How should I solve this problem?

  • How not to lose binding source updates?

    Suppose I have a modal dialog with a textbox and OK/Cancel buttons. And it is built on MVVM - i.e. it has a ViewModel object with a string property that the textbox is bound to. Say, I enter some text in the textbox and then grab my mouse and click "OK". Everything works fine: at the moment of click, the textbox loses focus, which causes the binding engine to update the ViewModel's property. I get my data, everybody's happy. Now suppose I don't use my mouse. Instead, I just hit Enter on the keyboard. This also causes the "OK" button to "click", since it is marked as IsDefault="True". But guess what? The textbox doesn not lose focus in this case, and therefore, the binding engine remains innocently ignorant, and I don't get my data. Dang! Another variation of the same scenario: suppose I have a data entry form right in the main window, enter some data into it, and then hit Ctrl+S for "Save". Guess what? My latest entry doesn't get saved! This may be somewhat remedied by using UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged, but that is not always possible. One obvious case would be the use of StringFormat with binding - the text keeps jumping back into "formatted" state as I'm trying to enter it. And another case, which I have encountered myself, is when I have some time-consuming processing in the viewmodel's property setter, and I only want to perform it when the user is "done" entering text. This seems like an eternal problem: I remember trying to solve it systematically from ages ago, ever since I've started working with interactive interfaces, but I've never quite succeeded. In the past, I always ended up using some sort of hacks - like, say, adding an "EnsureDataSaved" method to every "presenter" (as in "MVP") and calling it at "critical" points, or something like that... But with all the cool technologies, as well as empty hype, of WPF, I expected they'd come up with some good solution.

  • Cant fetch production db results using Google app engine remote_api

    Hey, im trying to work out with /remote_api with a django-patch app engine app i got running. i want to select a few rows from my online production app locally. i cant seem to manage todo so, everything authenticates fine, it doesnt breaks on imports, but when i try to fetch something it just doesnt print anything.
