• DataGridView: how to make scrollbar in sync with current cell selection?

  I have a windows application with DataGridView as data presentation. Every 2 minutes, the grid will be refreshed with new data. In order to keep the scroll bar in sync with the new data added, I have to reset its ScrollBars: dbv.Rows.Clear(); // clear rows SCrollBars sc = dbv.ScrollBars; dbv.ScrollBars = ScrollBars.None; // continue to populate rows such as dbv.Rows.Add(obj); dbv.ScrollBars = sc; // restore the scroll bar setting back With above codes, the scroll bar reappears fine after data refresh. The problem is that the application requires to set certain cell as selected after the refresh: dbv.CurrentCell = dbv[0, selectedRowIndex]; With above code, the cell is selected; however, the scroll bar's position does not reflect the position of the selected cell's row position. When I try to move the scroll bar after the refresh, the grid will jump to the first row. It seems that the scroll bar position is set back to 0 after the reset. The code to set grid's CurrentCell does not cause the scroll bar to reposition to the correct place. There is no property or method to get or set scroll bar's value in DataGriadView, as far as I know. I also tried to set the selected row to the top: dbv.CurrentCell = dbv[0, selectedRowIndex]; dbv.FirstDisplayedScrollingRowIndex = selectedRowIndex; The row will be set to the top, but the scroll bar's position is still out of sync. Not sure if there is any way to make scroll bar's position in sync with the selected row which is set in code?

• PHP execute command as subcommand

  I have the following 2 files and am executing them on linux (debian). File1.php <?php exec("php -f file2.php > /dev/null 2>&1 &"); sleep(100); File2.php <?php exec("sleep 30 > /dev/null 2>&1 &"); exec("sleep 30 > /dev/null 2>&1 &"); sleep(100); The way it currently is it first starts file1.php and fires up file2.php and immediatly begins the sleep commands. It does not wait for the first sleep to finish to continue. The problem is that the file2.php and sleep commands are not subcommands of file1.php and I can't simply kill it to kill all subcommands. • How to compile Open Flash Chart v.1?

  Let me just say, that I'm a total beginner in anything related to flash. I would like to compile latest version of OFC1 (v.1.9.7). It can be downloaded here: link. Unfortunately no tutorial of how to do it can be found anywhere. I succeeded in compiling OFC2 (v.Lug-Wyrm-Charmer). I installed FlashDevelop, then I found .proj file in the OFC2 package, opened it in FlashDevelop and built the project. It worked fine (although I had to fix some code errors, but it was simple). Unfortunately there is no project file in OFC1 package. I tried to create a new project (Project-New Project-AS3 Project). It created .proj file and few folders (src,bin...). I deleted 'Main.as' from 'src' folder. Then I copied all files from 'actionscript' folder from OFC1 to 'src' project folder. I opened the project and set 'open-flash-char.as' as Document Class (right click on the file in the project tree and 'Set Document Class'). Then I tried to build the project, but got an syntax error with (in 'open-flash-char.as'): #include "prototype.drawCircle.as" #include "prototype.fillCircle.as" #include "String.prototype.replace.as" So I removed "#" signs. But then I got an error ...\ofc1\projtest4\src\open-flash-chart.as: Error: A file found in a source-path must have an externally visible definition. If a definition in the file is meant to be externally visible, please put the definition in a package. I have no idea of how to continue. Maybe I'm doing everything wrong, because OFC1 is written in AS2 (probably), not AS3. I don't know. So my question is: How to compile OFC v.1.9.7?

• How to Get Specific Button pressed in a repeater when using ModalPopupExtender

  I have buttons contained within a repeater. A ModalPopupExtender is used to confirm event for each button. I create standard panels outside of the repeater and I attach each button in the repeater to these panels from inside the repeater. The problem is once the button is pressed in the popup I can't figure out how to determine which row of the repeater to edit as I can't figure out how to identify which button was pressed. • javascript pausing consistently. How do I find what is causing it to pause?

  I've got a fairly ajax heavy site and I'm trying to tune the performance. I have a function that runs between 20 & 200 times, depending on the user. I'm outputting the time the function takes to execute via console.time in firefox. The function takes about 4-6ms to complete. The strange thing is that on my larger test with 200 or runs through that function, it runs through the first 31, then seems to pause for almost a second before completing the last 170 or so. However, that 'pause' doesn't show up in the console.time logs, and I'm not running any other functions, and the object that gets passed to the function looks the same as all other objects that get passed in. The function is called like this for (var s in thisGroup.events){ showEvent(thisGroup.events[s]) } so, I don't see how or why it would suddenly pause near the beginning. but only pause once and then continue through. The pause ALWAYS happens on the 31st time through the function. I've taken a close look at the 'thisGroup.events[s]' that it is being run through, and it looks like this for #31 "eventId":"5106", "sid":"68", "gid":"29", "uid":"70","type":"event", "startDate":"2010-03-22","startTime":"6:00 PM","endDate":"2010-03-22","endTime":"11:00 PM","durationLength":"5", "durationTime":"5:00", "note":"", "desc":"event" The event immediately after the pause, #32 looks like this "eventId":"5111", "sid":"68", "gid":"29", "uid":"71","type":"event", "startDate":"2010-03-22","startTime":"6:00 PM","endDate":"2010-03-22","endTime":"11:00 PM","durationLength":"5", "durationTime":"5:00", "note":"", "desc":"event" another event that runs through no problem looks like this "eventId":"5113", "sid":"68", "gid":"29", "uid":"72","type":"event", "startDate":"2010-03-22","startTime":"4:30 PM","endDate":"2010-03-22","endTime":"11:00 PM","durationLength":"6.5", "durationTime":"6:30", "note":"", "desc":"event" From the console outputs, it doesn't appear as there is anything hanging or taking up time in the function itself, as the console.time for each event including #31,32 is 4ms. Another strange thing here is that the total time running the for loop across the entire object is coming out as 1014ms which is right for 200 events at 4-6ms each. Any suggestions on how to find this 'pause'? I find it very interesting that it is consistently happening between #31 & #32 only!

  Currently I am loading my supported products from a plist and after that I send a SKProductsRequest to guarantee that my SKProducts are still valid. So I set up the request, start it and get the response in: (void)productsRequest:(SKProductsRequest *)request didReceiveResponse:(SKProductsResponse *)response Now, so far all functions correctly. Problem: From calling the request until receiving the response it may last several seconds. Until that my app is already loaded and the user may be able to choose and buy a product. But because no products have been received, the available products are not in sync with the validated products - unlikely, but possible error. So my idea is to wait until the data is loaded and only continue when the list is validated. (Just a few seconds waiting...). Everything works fine if didReceiveResponse is completed before the sharedInstance is queried. There are different threads, the lock is working if wait is reached during didReceiveResponse, everything fine. But if not, didReceiveResponse is never called even if the request was sent. The lock is released, everything looks ok. I have tried to send the product request in a separate NSThread, with NSOperationQueue...without avail. Why ? What is happening ? How to solve the problem ?

• What is SSIS order of data transformation component method calls

  I am working on a custom data transformation component. I'm using NUnit and NMock2 to test as I code. Testing and getting the custom UI and other features right is a huge pain, in part because I can't find any documentation about the order in which SSIS invokes methods on the component at design time as well as runtime. I can correct the issues readily enough, but it's tedious and time consuming to unregister the old version, register the new version, fire up the test ssis package, try to display the UI, get an obscure error message, backtrace it, modify the component and continue. One of the big issues involves the UI component needing access to the componentmetadata and buffermanager properties of the component at design time, and what I need to provide for to support properties that won't be initialized until after the user enters them in the UI. I can work through it; but if someone knows of some docs or tips that would speed me up, I'd greatly appreciate it. The samples I've found havn't been much use; they seem to be directed to showing off cool stuff (Twitter, weather.com) rather than actual work. Thanks in advance.

• Making GUI applications on Linux/Windows. What languages/tools to use?

  My student group and I are trying to continue working on a project we worked on this semester over the summer to become a professional, deployable app. We originally did it in Adobe AIR but it seems now that the computers this program will be running on will be very slow, maybe 600mhz and 128-256mb ram so flash just isn't going to cut it. It is basically a health diagnosis application that we will be shipping out to impoverished countries. Now comes the real question. We are wondering what language to rebuild our application in. It has to have a good gui builder associated with it, like adobe flex/air gui builder or visual studio's gui builder but the application should run on linux primarily, and if it can run on windows thats just a plus. We are all students too without really any outside help so whatever we decide to do this in there must be ample documentation available when we hit problems. Some things we have considered so far are using python and glade or c# and monodevelop, but again we really are not experts on any of this which is why I am asking for help as I would rather spend the time now choosing the right tools instead of wasting time down the line when we hit a roadblock.   Is there any POSIX signals that I could utilize in my Perl program to create event-driven programming? I am relying on 'pipe' for my intercommunication. • How do I track down sporadic ASP.NET performance problems in a production environment?

  I've had sporadic performance problems with my website for awhile now. 90% of the time the site is very fast. But occasionally it is just really, really slow. I mean like 5-10 seconds load time kind of slow. I thought I had narrowed it down to the server I was on so I migrated everything to a new dedicated server from a completely different web hosting company. But the problems continue. I guess what I'm looking for is a good tool that'll help me track down the problem, because it's clearly not the hardware. I'd like to be able to log certain events in my ASP.NET code and have that same logger also track server performance/resources at the time. If I can then look back at the logs then I can see what exactly my website was doing at the time of extreme slowness. Is there a .NET logging system that'll allow me to make calls into it with code while simultaneously tracking performance? What would you recommend?

• Bring a subview to the top on mouseDown: AND keep receiving events (for dragging)

  Ok, basically I have a view with a series of slightly overlapping subviews. When a subview is clicked, it moves to the top (among other things), by a really simple two-liner: -(void)mouseDown:(NSEvent *)theEvent { if (_selected) { // Don't do anything this subview is already in the foreground return; } NSView *superview = [self superview]; [self removeFromSuperview]; [superview addSubview:self position:NSWindowAbove relativeTo:nil]; } This works fine and seems to be the "normal" way to do this. The problem is that I'm now introducing some drag logic to the view, so I need to respond to -mouseDragged:. Unfortunately, since the view is removed from the view hierarchy and re-added in the process, I can have the view come to the foreground and be dragged in the same mouse action. It only drags if I leave go of the mouse and click on the view again, since the second click doesn't do any view hierarchy juggling. Is there anything I can do that will allow the view to move to the foreground like this, AND continue to receive the subsequent -mouseDragged: and -mouseUp: events that follow? I started along the lines of thinking of overriding -hitTest: in the superview and intercepting the mouseDown event in order to bring the view to the foreground before it actually receives the event. The problem here is, from within -hitTest:, how do I distinguish what type of event I'm actually performing the hit test for? I wouldn't want to move the subview to the foreground for other mouse events, such as mouseMoved etc.

• Working around "one executable per project" in Visual C# for many small test programs

  When working with Visual Studio in general (or Visual C# Express in my particular case), it looks like each project can be configured to produce only one output - e.g. a single executable or a library. I'm working on a project that consists of a shared library and a few application, and I already have one project in my solution for each of those. However, during development I find it useful to write small example programs that can run one small subsystem in isolation (at a level that doesn't belong in the unit tests). Is there a good way to handle this in Visual Studio? I'd like to avoid adding several dozen separate projects to my solution for each small test program I write, especially when these programs will typically be less than 100 lines of code. I'm hoping to find something that lets me continue to work in Visual Studio and use its build system (rather than moving to something like NAnt). I could foresee the answer being something like: A way of setting this up in Visual Studio that I haven't found yet A GUI like NUnit's graphical runner that searches an assembly for classes with defined Main() functions that you can select and run A command line tool that lets you specify an assembly and a class with a Main function to run

• PHP DOMDocument Error Handling Problem

  I'm having trouble trying to write an if statement for DOM that will check if $html is blank. However whenever the html page does end up blank, it just removes everything that would be below DOM (including what I had to check if it was blank). $html = file_get_contents("http://example.com/"); $dom = new DOMDocument; @$dom->loadHTML($html); $links = $dom->getElementById('dividhere')->getElementsByTagName('img'); foreach ($links as $link) { echo $link->getAttribute('src'); } All this does is grab an image url in the specified div, which works perfectly until the page is a blank html page. I've tried using SimpleHTMLDOM, which didn't work either (it didn't even fetch the image on working pages). • VB.NET switching from ADO.NET to LINQ

  I'm VERY new to Linq. I have an application I wrote that is in VB.NET 2.0. Works great, but I'd like to switch this application to Linq. I use ADO.NET to load XML into a datatable. The XML file has about 90,000 records in it. I then use the Datatable.Select to perform searches against that Datatable. The search control is a free form textbox. So if the user types in terms it searches instantly. Any further terms that are typed in continue to restrict the results. So you can type in Bob, or type in Bob Barker. Or type in Bob Barker Price is Right. The more criteria typed in the more narrowed your result. I bind the results to a gridview. Moving forward what all do I need to do? From a high level, I assume I need to: 1) Go to Project Properties -- Advanced Compiler Settings and change the Target framework to 3.5 from 2.0. 2) Add the reference to System.XML.Linq, Add the Imports statement to the classes. So I'm not sure what the best approach is going forward after that. I assume I use XDocument.Load, then my search subroutine runs against the XDocument. Do I just do the standard Linq query for this sort of repeated search? Like so: var people = from phonebook in doc.Root.Elements("phonebook") where phonebook.Element("userid") = "whatever" select phonebook; Any tips on how to best implement?

We send a bunch of different request in bulk ( NEW, MODIFY, CANCEL ) to exchange... • Submit form with JS

  Im working with a shopping cart plugin and that uses a basic form on the product page to submit values like price, product name, etc.. The problem is that the plugin uses a standard submit button to send the values and I would like to replace said button with a prettier custom jquery rollover. In order to make this happen I used some JS and tossed a link around my custom submit button: <a href="#" onclick="document.forms[0].submit()" value="Add to Cart" onsubmit="return ReadForm(this, true);"> <img class="fade" src="style/img/add_btn.jpg" style="background: url(style/img/add_ro.png);" alt=""/> </a> The form submits and the user is redirected to the homepage but the data in the form doesn't seem to get submitted and the product never gets added to the 'cart' page. I suspect that the form is getting submitted but I am failing to fire some additional JS function that submits the data.   i'm creating a visual editor in flex and need to let users export thier projects into Image format. But i have one problem: size of the canvas is fixed and when user add element which is out of these sizes some scroll bars added. And user continue working on the project. but when he want to take snapshot of the canvas he just get the visible part ot the canvas with scrollbars. how to get image of the fullsize canvas? The only solution i found is to check the positions and sizes of canvas child objects and rezise it to fit them. then take snap and resize back. But it hmmmm... too complicated i think. • How do I update a progress bar in Cocoa during a long running loop?

  Hi, I've got a while loop, that runs for many seconds and that's why I want to update a progress bar (NSProgressIndicator) during that process, but it updates only once after the loop has finished. The same happens if I want to update a label text, by the way. I believe, my loop prevents other things of that application to happen. There must be another technique. Does this have to do with threads or something? Am I on the right track? Can someone please give me a simple example, how to “optimize” my application? • Search for a date between given ranges - Lotus

  I have been trying to work out what is the best way to search for gather all of the documents in a database that have a certain date. Originally I was trying to use FTsearch or search to move through a document collection, but I changed over to processing a view and associated documents. My first question is what is the easiest way to spin through a set of documents and find if a date stored in the documents is greater than or less than a specified date? So, to continue working I implemented the following code. If (doc.creationDate(0) > cdat(parm1)) And (doc.creationDate(0) < CDat(parm2)) then ... end if but the results are off Included! Date:3/12/10 11:07:08 P1:3/1/10 P2: 3/5/10 Included! Date:3/13/10 9:15:09 P1:3/1/10 P2: 3/5/10 Included! Date:3/17/10 16:22:07P1:3/1/10 P2: 3/5/10 You can see that the date stored in the doc is not between P1 and P2. BUT! it does limit the documents with a date less than P1 correctly. So I won't get a result for a document with a date less than 3/1/10 If there isn't a better way than the if statement, can someone help me understand why the two examples from above are included?

I want the carousel to continue moving while the mouse is within the next or previous buttons. • Is jQuery forcing Adobe ColdFusion to abandon the dead flash product line?

  I have been reading a lot about how flash development/design had died, and as jQuery and in the near future html5 comes out, will this start to push Adobe/Coldfusion away from flash towards less product linking? I mean, I love coldfusion, and want that to continue to grow, however, if Adobe only bought Coldfusion from Macromedia, so they can bundle flash and coldfusion together, does the death of flash mean the death of coldfusion? http://topnews.us/content/221385-jobs-says-adobes-flash-waning-and-had-its-day http://aext.net/2010/03/javascript-jquery-killing-flash-tutorial-jquery-plugin/ I really don't mind if Flash dies, I do mind greatly if coldfusion does. I was only worried that Adobe would cause problems for Coldfusion, if flash had some market/financial problems. That was my main concern... And no I am not anti-flash... But my financial sanity depends on Coldfusion being a success, so that is why I stated my question. Because I WANT EVERYONE ELSE'S OPINION OF THIS SITUATION. Thank You.
