  • Best IDE for javascript server development

    After reading http://www.pragprog.com/magazines/2010-03/javascript-its-not-just-for-browsers-any-more im wondering which is the best IDE to develop service-side javascript applications? I want a nice development environment with commonjs and node etc. Preferebly windows but anything is interesting really. Is there any IDE with some nifty refactoring tools, maybe some intellisense-like function, etc etc.. Or is it notepad++ ftw?

I am partially switching over to android also.So i want to know how to use Eclipse IDE that should be compatible to Both Blackberry JDE and android SDK. What is IDE' that needs to be downloaded .I downloaded BlackBerry_JDE_PluginFull_1.0.0.67.exe.   • System.Diagnostics.Process.Start not work with IIS, but on ASP.NET Development Server

    I am using VS2008 C# and testing on my local XP Pro PC with local IIS, I have wrote a web service to call a third party software .exe file to use svn checkout commands to insert data into a folder, which use System.Diagnostics.Process.Start . The same codes did work when I use VS2008 build-in ASP.NET Development Server(http://localhost:2999/MyServices/MyServices.asmx). but when I use IIS normal URL(http://developer/MyServices/MyServices.asmx) to run Process.Start on the web service, it just haunlted and not doing anything.plz send one sample program.

    Hi, I'm writing an embedded ftp server, and I cannot get the listing format correctly. The server works completely, only programs like FileZilla cannot interpret the listing format. Here's a sample listing: -rwxr--r-- 1 owner group 640 1970 01 01 test -rwxr--r-- 1 owner group 13440 1970 01 01 test.html -rwxr--r-- 1 owner group 512 1970 01 01 test2.txt Which is basically: permissions[tab]number?[tab]owner[tab]group[tab]filesize[tab]date[tab]filename What am I doing wrong?   • DB time always showing as zero in Rails development log timings

    I've noticed that the Rails log correctly displays the time taken to execute an action in the logs, and that the View: part of that is also rendered correctly. However, the DB: value is always zero: Aug 11 13:00:22 [2326] INFO: Completed in 2072ms (View: 94, DB: 0) | 200 OK In fact, all my DB timings are being logged as zero. I'm logging at DEBUG level, in development mode, running Rails 2.3.2. Apologies in advance if the answer is blatantly obvious.

In the development phase, are the javascript files usually split up (say there are 300 lines of js) to make things abit more manageable, and then merged when the website is 'put live'? Or do the developers just put up with working in one long large file?

    My question is same as the title. I have not done Test driven development yet,I have performed unit testing and I am aware of testing in general but I hear it is much advantageous to follow TDD?.
