• How do I configure Jetty (via jettyrunner) so that it names a character set in the Content-Type response header?

  I use Jetty (via the oh-so-handy Jetty Runner) for day-to-day web application testing. One thing I've recently stumbled on is the fact that I don't get a character set called out in the "Content-Type" response header all the time. I do get it in response to my application's XMLHttpRequest transactions, but not for plain old pages loaded by <a> links or whatever. I've read a little bit about how to set up a Jetty config file, but I've never been able to completely understand that; all servlet containers are complicated, and while Jetty is pretty simple it's just weird enough that I don't grok the overall idea. Thus, all I do to launch my app is to run the Jetty Runner .jar file with a couple of simple arguments to set up the port number and logfile path, and then I just give it the .war file to run. It works great — except for the missing character set :-) Anybody have a quick sample config file that might fix this? edit — oh if it matters, I'm running Jetty 7.0.0 RC3; I've also tried with a slightly newer version (still 7.something) with exactly the same issue. All my testing is on Ubuntu.

• Can Remote Desktop be set up to use IPv6?

  I have both a Windows 7 Ultimate and a Windows XP Professional machine set up on my home network. I would like to be able to access them from school. Port forwarding is not currently an option (long story). Is there a way to set it so that I can RDP (yes it has to be RDP not something like TeamViewer or LogMeIn) over IPv6, possibly using Teredo? I have tried but I can't seem to get it working. Also I cannot ping these machines' IPv6 addresses. How can I get this set up?

• Use xrandr to set the absolute position of the screen?

  I am running XFCE on Fedora 15. I use xrandr to set the secondary display (HDMI-0) to be to the right of the primary (DVI-0), however it is always at the top-right. Is it possible to set the absolute position of the display (e.g. DVI-0 at 0,0 and HDMI-0 at 1920,56), or even set the display to be at the bottom-right? I cannot modify the Xorg.conf, which would be the easy way, as that would mean generating an Xorg.conf file (there is none right now), and I do not know of any automated tool to do that (other than the fglrx driver). The reason why I need this is because I want to extend the XFCE panel accross both monitors, but with there being a 56-pixel-wide dead zone at the bottom I cannot do this.

  According to the man page for launchctl (emphasis mine):    -w   Overrides the Disabled key and sets it to false. In previous versions, this option would modify the configuration file. Now the state of the Disabled key is stored elsewhere on-disk. Because the current state of the disabled flag is no longer set in the .plist file itself, checking for the Disabled key is no longer an accurate way to tell if the service will run on next boot. Where is this "elsewhere on-disk"? More to the point (and more importantly), how does one check whether this flag is set? Also, is it possible to set a service to run on next boot without forcing it to start immediately (as with launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/my-service.plist)?

  I'm looking for a way to have a couple (or three) multiple configurations set up on my laptop, and easily switch between them. To be more specific, when my laptop is at work, it's plugged into a second monitor, and has a specific set of networks configurations. At home, the second monitor is gone, the network configurations are different. At a public wireless point there are other configurations to set, etc. I know I can go into my preferences and turn on/turn off the monitor, and mess with the networking preferences, and so on, but I'm looking for a way to change a bunch of preferences all at once, and if it's possible to do that automatically, maybe based on the wireless APs in the vicinity, that would be even better.

  I have two Windows 2008 forests in Win2003 mode and I need to set up a one way trust between them. The validation button in Domains And Trusts works in one forest but not in the other. I think this is because not all DCs can see all the other DCs. I'm not sure if I need to set up the hosts file, so I did so with company.com in the respective domain along with the relevant DC. Do I have the "right" number of NICs and networks? I'm thinking the 2nd NIC/network may be unnecessary.   I was trying to migrate a Win7 OS from a HDD to a SSD. I've created 2 partition with 1024KB offset, with diskpart: 100MB System Reserved and a 60GB for C:. I've cloned their contents using Easeus Disk Copy. I've loaded the Windows 7 Boot DVD, and wanted to use diskpart to drop the letter for the System Reserved partition and make it hidden. select volume 0 detail volume attribute volume set nodefaultdriveletter attribute volume set hidden These 2 attribute set commands actioned on both volumes (0 and 1, MSR and C:) instead of the selected one, and viceversa. I've tried to clear these attributes from volume 1, but it cleared them also from volume 0. Why does DiskPart have this behaviour?

When I come on a new computer with any version of Windows, I need to: un-hide file extensions set explorer default view to list instead of icons set the file extensions like h c cpp so they don't open Visual C++ (which can take up to 20 seconds!) each time I double click on them, opening them with something like Notepad++ instead. Isn't there some program to quickly set thoses options to something I want, like some standalone exe, or some generic registry file I can execute when I come on a new machine? I'm a developer and I can't believe I'm wasting so much time on those &*$%@# things.

  We are deploying client computers and in testing noticed that the first time the user logs into the computer, it asks them if the location is a home, work, or public location. We are worried that some users in our workplace might misread it (or not read it at all) and click Public, thus likely denying our access to the computer and messing up security settings and such. Can we set our network to be a "Work Network" location via group policy or some other mechanism of our Windows Domain so that the user is not prompted when connected to our network? Also these are laptops, so we don't want every network they connect to be set as work network, and we have several access points (wired and three wireless) which our users often switch between so I'm not yet sure if it reprompts with each access point but I have the feeling it will, and I would like all of these to be set to the Work profile type.

  I have a D-Link router for my home Wi-Fi network. Everyday at least once the internet suddenly goes down. I am simply not able to connect to the Wi-Fi network. If I just restart the router, it starts working. To debug the issue I logged into the admin panel and noticed the time was set to something in 2002. I have set it to the correct time. Will wait to see if that fixes the problem. In the meanwhile I want to know what can go bad when the router has been set to show an incorrect time? What are the kinds of problems expected? My Wi-Fi was working just fine most of the time, but sometimes it lost the connection. Could this be linked to the incorrect time setting?

  My laptop monitor's native resolution is 1280x800 and it just isnt big enough for me. I tried to set the resolution higher, but my graphics card only showed options upto 1280x800, and I figured that was the max res my card would allow. I found a monitor out on the street a few days ago and its native resolution is 1024x768. I have been playing around with it a bit. I was looking under the resolutions for it, and I can set it upto 1400x1050, so apparently my card allows for more than 1280x800, so why can't I set my laptop monitor to higher?

  I know I can set a variable in a shell startup file, but the thing is, I am trying to set up a POSIX-compatible environment, and a POSIX shell does not parse any startup files other than the one specified by the environment variable ENV. This presents a problem - currently my login starts the shell as bash, which I will try to replace with sh so Bash runs as POSIX shell - however then it will not parse the default startup files and I need ENV set to specify these. Which means as far as I understand that I need to specify ENV before login starts the shell, correct? Now, how would I do that? I hope my question is clear, if not I will gladly redact it.

  I'm using dyndns, a lynksis wt54g router, and tomcat 7 with spring to set up a web server. This is my first time to attempt this. I'm sure this is a very common question, but I don't know enough to find the answer after quite a bit searching. Dyndns is successfully forwarding to my ip. The main problem is, the router admin login is coming up when my url is used. I'm hosting my site on port 8080. I have port forwarding set up for port 8080 but my request times out when I attempt to use my url like this www.myurl1234.com:8080. I don't want users to have to type the port anyway. I also tried changing the management port to 82 and hosting on port 80, but I still get the router admin login when I use my url. Where am I going wrong? Can I set it up so that www.myurl1234.com goes straight to port 8080?

  i have a Lucene-Index with following documents: doc1 := { caldari, jita, shield, planet } doc2 := { gallente, dodixie, armor, planet } doc3 := { amarr, laser, armor, planet } doc4 := { minmatar, rens, space } doc5 := { jove, space, secret, planet } so these 5 documents use 14 different terms: [ caldari, jita, shield, planet, gallente, dodixie, armor, amarr, laser, minmatar, rens, jove, space, secret ] the frequency of each term: [ 1, 1, 1, 4, 1, 1, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 1 ] for easy reading: [ caldari:1, jita:1, shield:1, planet:4, gallente:1, dodixie:1, armor:2, amarr:1, laser:1, minmatar:1, rens:1, jove:1, space:2, secret:1 ] What i do want to know now is, how to obtain the term frequency vector for a set of documents? for example: Set<Documents> docs := [ doc2, doc3 ] termFrequencies = magicFunction(docs); System.out.pring( termFrequencies ); would result in the ouput: [ caldari:0, jita:0, shield:0, planet:2, gallente:1, dodixie:1, armor:2, amarr:1, laser:1, minmatar:0, rens:0, jove:0, space:0, secret:0 ] remove all zeros: [ planet:2, gallente:1, dodixie:1, armor:2, amarr:1, laser:1 ] Notice, that the result vetor contains only the term frequencies of the set of documents. A naive implementation would be to just iterate over all documents in the docs set, create a map and count each term. But i need a solution that would also work with a document set size of 100.000 or 500.000. Is there a feature in Lucene i can use to obtain this term vector? If there is no such feature, how would a data structure look like someone can create at index time to obtain such a term vector easily and fast? I'm not that Lucene expert so i'am sorry if the solution is obvious or trivial.

• What do you need to implement to provide a Content Set for an NSArrayController?

  Heys, I am writing something in Xcode. I use Core Data for persistency and link the view and the model together with Cocoa Bindings; pretty much your ordinary Core Data application. I have an array controller (NSArrayController) in my Xib. This has its managedObjectContext bound to the AppDelegate, as is convention, and tracks an entity. So far so good. Now, the "Content Set" biding of this NSArrayController limits its content set (as you'd expect), by a keyPath from the selection in another NSArrayController (otherAc.selection.detailsOfMaster). This is the usual way to implement a Master-Detail relationship. I want to variably change the key path at runtime, using other controls. This way, I sould return a content set that includes several other content sets, which is all advanced and beyond Interface Builder. To achieve this, I think I should bind the Content Set to my AppDelegate instead. I have tried to do this, but don't know what methods to implement. If I just create the KVC methods (objectSet, setObjectSet), then I can provide a Content Set for the Array Controller in the contentSet method. However, I don't think I'm binding this properly, because it doesn't "refresh". I'm new to binding; what do I need to implement to properly update the Content Set when other things, like the selection in the master NSArrayController, changes?

• How to set default view in OpenLayers, WITHOUT restricting bounds?

  Based on samples, I can see that you can set a default view in OpenLayers by saying something along the lines of: var bounds = new OpenLayers.Bounds(-125, 25, -65, 50); var map = new OpenLayers.Map('map', {restrictedExtent: bounds }); However, this also (as the name implies), restricts me to be able to ONLY navigate within these bounds. I can zoom out and see things outside of these bounds, but I can't then zoom back onto them, or scroll to them. I've tried not having any restrictedExtent (or making it the entire map), but then I can't get it to focus on the area I want. I tried using: map.setCenter(new OpenLayers.LonLat(0,0), 3); console.log(map.getCenter()); To set the zoom and the center...but it doesn't seem to do ANYTHING, other than set the variable "center" which I can then read from map.getCenter() (if I don't set it, it's null, if I do set it, I can see it...but the map itself stays fully extended and it's center doesn't seem to change at all...) The Map layer I am using is: OpenLayers.Layer.OSM.Mapnik with displayOutsideMaxExtent set to true... I'm really at a loss here. My goal is to have a default region of the world zoomed in to and in view (such as the United States), with the option of viewers being able to go outside the default to view things.
