  • NullPointerException on Activity Testint Tutorial

    - by Bendik
Hello, I am currently trying the activity testing tutorial (Found here), and have a problem. It seems that whenever I try to call something inside the UIThread, I get a java.lang.NullPointerException. public void testSpinnerUI() { mActivity.runOnUiThread( new Runnable() { public void run() { mSpinner.requestFocus(); } }); } This gives me: Incomplete: java.lang.NullPointerException and nothing else. I have tried this on two different samples now, with the same result. I tried with a try/catch clause around the mSpinner.requestFocus() call, and it seems that mSpinner is null inside the thread. I have set it properly up with the setUp() function found in the same sample, and a quick assertNotNull( mSpinner ) shows me that mSpinner is in fact not null after the setUp() function. What can be the cause of this? EDIT; ok, some more testing has been done. It seems that the application that is being tested resets between each test. This essentially makes me have to reinstantiate all variables between each test. Is this normal?

  • What are the exact versions of stuff you had to install in order to be able to step-debug a Scala pr

    - by Alex R
How do YOU debug a Scala program? I mean YOU as in the person posting the Answer :) Please answer only from personal experience, not from stuff you've heard or read on the Internet. You should not believe everything you read on the Internet, especially tales of complex open-source software configurations that actually work :-) The are many Java tools which claim to support Scala in some way or another, but I have so far struck out in trying to get any one of them to actually let me set a breakpoint in Scala code and step through it. These are big, major open-source IDEs I'm talking about here. The main problem in getting a debugger to work seems to be the "version hell" with fast-changing IDEs, Plug-Ins, JDKs, and the Scala language itself. Hence the second part of my question, which is really the most important part: What is the exact version number of the IDE, Plug-In, JDK, Scala, and even Operating System, that you are successfully using? My question is related to this one, but wider in scope: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2272705/how-to-debug-scala-code-when-outside-of-an-ide Thanks

  • Is it impossible to embed Java3D in a way that I don't need to install it?

    - by Kyle
I'm running a big application and a small part of it includes Java 3D, the problem is many users need to use the code, but it isn't practical for everyone to install Java 3D just to run the application if they aren't even going to use that section of the application. Is it possible through compiling an extra jar, or changing some paths, to include Java 3D in a project without installing it on a system? Or perhaps to manually include any dlls?

  • How do I force MyEclipse to hot-deploy a JavaScript file to my JBoss instance?

    - by Mike Cialowicz
I'm having trouble with MyEclipse 7.1.1 hot-deployment of files to my JBoss 4 server. The problem is this: while my server is running, I can make changes to various JAVA and HTML files, which are then hot-deployed immediately (I can see the changes reflected in my browser when I refresh the page). However, while working on a particular JavaScript file, my changes are not being hot-deployed. This makes it very difficult to work on and debug this file, since I have to stop my server, redeploy, and start it again each time I make changes. This is a new problem - it didn't used to happen with this file, so I think something got screwed up in my MyEclipse configuration. I've verified that my projects (JBoss 4 instances) are all set up in "Exploded" mode for hot-deployment. I'm also 99% sure that this isn't an issue with my browser, since I always refresh with CTRL+F5, and I've tried a number of things like clearing my browser cache to get the currently deployed version of the file. I've also tried doing a "clean" on the project while the server is running, and that didn't force a deployment either. Any sort of solution would be helpful. I'd love for MyEclipse to deploy the file automatically, but I'm also open to manually forcing hot-deployment of this particular file while I work on it. Thank you.

  • including pre-built java classes into an android project

    - by moonlightcheese
i'm trying to include a maven java project into my android project. the maven project is the greader-unofficial project which allows developers access to google reader accounts, and handles all of the http transactions and URI/URL building, making grabbing feeds and items from google reader transparent to the developer. the project is available here: http://code.google.com/p/greader-unofficial/ the code is originally written for the standard jdk and uses classes from java.net that are not a part of the standard Android SDK. i actually tried to manually resolve all dependencies and ran into a problem when i got as far as including com.sun.syndication pieces required by the class be.lechtitseb.google.reader.api.util.AtomUtil.java... some of the classes in java.net that are in the standard jdk (i'm using 1.6) are not in the Android SDK. in addition, resolving all of these dependencies manually is just ridiculous when i'm compiling a maven project that should be pretty simple. however, i can use maven to compile the sources with no issue. how can i include this maven project, which is dependent on the complete jdk, into my android project in such a way that it will compile so that i can access the GoogleReader class from my android project? and for the record, i don't have the expertise to rewrite this entire api to work with the standard Android SDK.

  • Highlighting Changes in Java

    - by Buzz Lightyear
Basically, i have done my program so that it will display differences in strings and display the whole line. I want to highlight (in a colour) the differences in the line. Example: Original at line 5 <rect x="60.01" width="855.38" id="rect_1" y="-244.35" height="641.13" style="stroke-width: 1; stroke: rgb(0, 0, 0); fill: none; "/> Edited at line 5 <rect x="298.43" width="340.00" y="131.12" height="380.00" id="rect_1" style="stroke-width: 1; stroke: rgb(0, 0, 0); fill: rgb(255, 102, 0); "/> In this example, the width is different from the 'original' from the 'edited' version. I would like to be able to highlight that difference and any other difference. My code so far: Patch patch = DiffUtils.diff(centralFile, remoteFile); StringBuffer resultsBuff = new StringBuffer(remoteFileData.length); for (Delta delta : patch.getDeltas()) { resultsBuff.append("Original at line " + delta.getOriginal().getPosition() + "\n"); for (Object line : delta.getOriginal().getLines()) { resultsBuff.append(" " + line + "\n"); } resultsBuff.append("Edited at line " + delta.getRevised().getPosition() + "\n"); for (Object line : delta.getRevised().getLines()) { resultsBuff.append(" " + line + "\n"); } resultsBuff.append("\n"); } return resultsBuff.toString(); } That will display two whole lines like the example before (the original and the edited version) I want to be able to highlight the changes that have actually been made, is there any way to do this in Java?

String calId = ""; Cursor userCursor =getContentResolver().query(Uri.parse(content://com.android.calendar/calendars),null, null, null, null); if(userCursor.getCount() > 0){ userCursor.moveToFirst(); calId = userCursor.getString(userCursor.getColumnIndex("_id")); } ContentValues event = new ContentValues(); event.put("title", "title"); event.put("description", "description"); event.put("eventLocation", "Event Location"); event.put("allDay", 0); event.put("hasAlarm",0); event.put("calendar_id",calId); Calendar mCalendar = Calendar.getInstance(); mCalendar.set(2012, 2, 27,7,00,00); long start = mCalendar.getTimeInMillis(); mCalendar.set(2012, 2, 27,8,00,00); long end = mCalendar.getTimeInMillis(); event.put("dtstart", start); event.put("dtend", end); Uri newEvent = Uri.parse(content://com.android.calendar/events); getContentResolver().insert(newEvent, event); ContentValues values = new ContentValues(); userCursor.close(); But when I change event.put("allDay", 0); to event.put("allDay", 1); Event gets saved successfully and gets edited successfully.   • Generate service layer with Hibernate

    - by gmate
Hi all! I generate *.hbm.xml mapping files and *.java file from the DB schema, with Hibernate tools. My question is, that is there any option, to generate service classes also? These are the classes where I implement the store(), find(), delete(), etc... methods. I know that for C# there are many solutions to generate almost everything. I'm looking for the same, but with Hibernate. Is there any? Thanks for every reply in advance!

  • Debugging Widget causes ANR

    - by Salv0
I'm trying to debug an AppWidget but I incurred in a problem :D I placed a breakpoint on the top of the method: public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) { Log.v(TAG, "onReceive 1"); // BP on this line super.onReceive(context, intent); String action = intent.getAction(); // Checks on action and computations ... Log.v(TAG, "onReceive 2"); updateWidget(context); Log.v(TAG, "onReceive 3"); } The breakpoint stops the execution as expected but then the process dies. The problem is that the breakpoint ( I guess xD ) cause an ANR and the ActivityManager kills the process. That's the Log: 01-07 14:32:38.886: ERROR/ActivityManager(72): ANR in com.salvo.wifiwidget 01-07 14:32:38.886: INFO/Process(72): Sending signal. PID: 475 SIG: 9 ...... ...... 01-07 14:32:38.906: INFO/ActivityManager(72): Process com.salvo.wifiwidget (pid 475) has died. This cause the debug to stop. So the question is: there's a way to debug the widget without incurring in the ANR?? thanks in advance for the answers
