  I am trying to link directly to the review link of one of my Apps. I know that it is possible because Appirater did it in the past, but some change in iTunes turned the API down. Appirater uses this URL NSString *templateReviewURL = @"itms-apps://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewContentsUserReviews?id=APP_ID&onlyLatestVersion=true&pageNumber=0&sortOrdering=1&type=Purple+Software"; where APP_ID is the ID of an application. running this from inside the APP gives me the message Cannot Connect to iTunes Store. This Page talks about another kind of link https://userpub.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZUserPublishing.woa/wa/addUserReview?id=APP_ID&type=Purple+Software and also itms-apps://ax.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewContentsUserReviews?type=Purple+Software&id=APP_ID The first one works, but just from the desktop mac. The second gives me the same error as the first... Cannot Connect to iTunes Store. iTunes link maker is not helping too, because it has no tools for iPad links... Do you guys know how to link to an app's review form from inside an app? In case you don't know, what kind of package should I use to dig this? a package sniffer? thanks for any help.

• Avoid richfaces to send back javascript libraries in the ajax responses

  I'm using JSF 1.2 with Richfaces, and for every ajax request, the server is sending back the response, whichi is good, but it also contains all the links to the javascript files. I want to improve the performance so I just want the <body> to be returned, because all the javascript files are already loaded in the browser when the user logs in (my app is not restful). How can i do that? • Clip a wpf Popup at bounds of a main window

  From what I understand, the popup exists within it's own visual tree. However, I've noticed a few properties, Clip and ClipToBounds. What I am wanting to do is Visually clip a popup at the right and bottom edges of a window regardless of the fact that the popup is independent of the bounds of the window. I'm not using XAML, but if somebody knows how to do it in XAML, then that's fine. I can get to the main window using System.Windows.Application.Current.MainWindow. Is it possible from this to get a value that I can use to clip the popup? I'm assuming that if there is a value that I can use, then I would be able to bind the clipping of the popup to that value. This is really not necessary since after the popup initially opens, if the window gets moved or resized, the popup closes. So I would really only need to clip the popup when it opens. The reason I would like to do this is because although I am using a popup, I don't want it to appear as a popup that exists outside of the window. FYI this is for a popup calendar for a custom datebox. Any ideas, as well as clarification of misconceptions that I may have, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Brandon

• Unable to regress web application from AJAX Control Toolkit 3.0 back to 1.0

  I was recently asked to stop using the Ajax Control Toolkit 3.0 in my application and need to go back to 1.0. Luckily I only have one calendar control which I don't believe will be affected by this. I have removed the reference to the 3.0 .dll and added a reference to the 1.0 .dll. • Advice on database design / SQL for retrieving data with chronological order

  I am creating a database that will help keep track of which employees have been on a certain training course. I would like to get some guidance on the best way to design the database. Specifically, each employee must attend the training course each year and my database needs to keep a history of all the dates on which they have attend the course in the past. The end user will use the software as a planning tool to help them book future course dates for employees. When they select a given employee they will see: (a) Last attendance date (b) Projected future attendance date(i.e. last attendance date + 1 calendar year) In terms of my database, any given employee may have multiple past course attendance dates: EmpName AttandanceDate Joe Bloggs 1st Jan 2007 Joe Bloggs 4th Jan 2008 Joe Bloggs 3rd Jan 2009 Joe Bloggs 8th Jan 2010 My question is what is the best way to set up the database to make it easy to retrieve the most recent course attendance date? In the example above, the most recent would be 8th Jan 2010. Is there a good way to use SQL to sort by date and pick the MAX date? My other idea was to add a column called ‘MostRecent’ and just set this to TRUE. EmpName AttandanceDate MostRecent Joe Bloggs 1st Jan 2007 False Joe Bloggs 4th Jan 2008 False Joe Bloggs 3rd Jan 2009 False Joe Bloggs 8th Jan 2010 True I wondered if this would simplify the SQL i.e. SELECT Joe Bloggs WHERE MostRecent = ‘TRUE’ Also, when the user updates a given employee’s attendance record (i.e. with latest attendance date) I could use SQL to: Search for the employee and set the MostRecent value to FALSE Add a new record with MostRecent set to TRUE? Would anybody recommended either method over the other? Or do you have a completely different way of solving this problem?

  This concerns iPhoneOS-sdk-3.2 I am having difficulty changing the border color of a grouped UITableView. I can change the cell background color, separator color, text color, quite easily now, and the rounded corners clip correctly, even when highlighted with whatever colors I have chosen. However the surrounding border remains infuriatingly gray despite many different attempts. I have read all of the related posts I can find via Google, let alone stackoverflow. I have tried both a programmatic and xib-based solution and both provide the same results. • Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.InvalidOperationException: Two components with the same id.

  I'm working in ASP .NET dynamic data. In one of my edit controls I wanted to allow the user to add records from a related table to the current page. (Literally, if you are on the orders page, you would be allowed to add a new customer to the system on this page as well, and then associate it with that order). So, I have a DetailsView set to InsertMode, nested inside of an UpdatePanel, which is shown by a ModalPopupExtender which is invoked when 'add new' is clicked. This doohickey works the first time i execute this process, that is, a customer is added (and i update the dropdown list as well). However, I realized it didn't work (properly) again until I refreshed the entire page. When I attached my debugger, my worst fears were realized (ok, not really). But an exception was being thrown: "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.InvalidOperationException: Two components with the same id." Which seemed to be complaining about a Calendar Extender Control that is part of the details view. Any guidance on what's going on here would be great. Thanks.

• Mac gcc non-virtual thunk error

  I am trying to display my events from a MySQL database. I'm using the events function. My XML file being returned is pretty basic. I've looked at all of the FullCalendar questions and most of them talk about JSON and point to the documentation for JSON. I can't use JSON. I have to go XML. Can you tell me where I'm off.   Working around an issue where my jquery datepicker does not display after postback within an update panel. The textbox (trigger) for the calendar is contained within a control, which is contained within an update panel.   This is a vague, open question, so if you have no interest in these, please leave now. A few years ago it seemed everyone thought the death of desktop software was imminent. Web applications were the future. Everyone would move to cloud-based software-as-a-service systems, and developing applications for specific end-user platforms like Windows would soon become something of a ghetto. Joel's "How Microsoft Lost the API War" was but one of many such pieces sounding the death knell for this way of software development. Flash-forward to 2010, and the hype is all around mobile devices, particularly the iPhone. Software-as-a-Service vendors--even small ones such as YCombinator startups--go out of their way to build custom applications for the iPhone and other smart phone devices; applications that can be quite sophisticated, that run only on specific hardware and software architectures and are thus inherently incompatible. Now some of you are probably thinking, "Well, only the decline of desktop software was predicted; mobile devices aren't desktops." But the term was used by those predicting its demise to mean laptops also, and really any platform capable of running a browser. What was promised was a world where HTML and related standards would supplant native applications and their inherent difficulties. We would all code to the browser, not the OS. But here we are in 2010 with the AppStore bulging and development for the iPad just revving up. A few days ago, I saw someone on Hacker News claim that the future of computing was entirely in small, portable devices. Apparently the future is underpowered, requires dexterous thumbs and induces near-sightedness. How do those who so vehemently asserted one thing now assert the opposite with equal vehemence, without making even the slightest admission of error? And further, how are we as developers supposed to sift through all of this? I bought into the whole web-standards utopianism that was in vogue back in '06-'07 and now feel like it was a mistake. Is there some formula one can apply rather than a mere appeal to experience?

• LGPL and Dual Licensing Ajax Library

  Hi guys, I'm the previous founder of Gaiaware and Gaia Ajax Widgets and when I used to work there we had this rhetoric (which I have confirmed with some very smart FOSS people is correct) that when using a GPL Ajax library you're basically "distributing" the JavaScript which in turn makes the GPL viral clause kick in and forces people to purchase a proprietary license if they're going to build Closed Source stuff... So now I'm the the LGPL world here with Ra-Ajax which is an LGPL licensed library and I've got no intentions of creating a GPL licensed library since I believe strongly in that the LGPL is the "enabler" of the Open Web to prevail. But something interesting have happened which I think might still give me a "business model" here which is the Linking clause of the LGPL which I think goes something like this (pseudo); "If you link to an LGPL licensed thing you get no restrictions on your own derived works"... But so we started creating something we're calling Ajax Starter-Kits which effectively is a "Project Kickstarter" where you can download a finished project/solution which basically enables you to start out with some pre-done boiler plate code for problems such as Ajax DataGrids, Ajax Calendar Applications, Ajax TreeView Applications etc. And the funny thing is that our users would NOT "link" to these, they would effectively BE our users applications... So to wrap up my question. Would this force users of our LGPL licensed Ajax Starter-Kits to LGPL license their own work? Basically if it does we have a business model (and I get very happy) if not I'd just have to hope people would still like to pay us those $29 for our Starter-Kits to support the project... ;) Help rewarded with extreme gratitude...

  So I want to add an iCal file to a web page, so that people can add an event to their calendars. But when I view the event in my calendar (Outlook 2007) I want to see everyone who will be attending. How can I do that? I just started experimenting with this, I used Outlook's Save As to create an iCal file for a single event. That works, I can link to that file and other people can add the event to their calendars. But it doesn't tell me who has added it. • Unable to convert from Julian INT date to regular TSQL Datetime

  Help me Stackoverflow, I'm close to going all "HULK SMASH" on my keyboard over this issue. I have researched carefully but I'm obviously not getting something right. I am working with a Julian dates referenced from a proprietary tool (Platinum SQL?), though I'm working in SQL 2005. I can convert their "special" version of Julian into datetime when I run a select statement. Unfortunately it will not insert into a datetime column, I get the following error when I try: The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value. So I can't setup datetime criteria for running a report off of the Stored Procedure. Original Value: 733416 Equivalent Calendar Value: 01-09-2009 Below is my code... I'm so close but I can't quite see what's wrong, I need my convert statement to actually convert the Julian value (733416) into a compatible TSQL DATETIME value. • Speed Problem - Animating Height Change in UITableView

  So I have a huge UITableView, between 1000 and 3000 rows. Each row needs to, when selected, expand to include several buttons. I do this by rendering the buttons below the cell, enabling clipping on the cells, and then just animating a change in height when they're selected. So I have heightForRowAtIndex checking if the row is selected, if so it gives a different height value. To do the animation, I have the following: - (void) tableView: (UITableView *) tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath: (NSIndexPath *) indexPath { [self.tableView beginUpdates]; [self.tableView endUpdates]; } This all works wonderfully until I get around 1000 rows, at which point the animations still work and are still quite smooth, but they lag by a second or two. My first thought was a memory problem, but everything is being autoreleased and upon inspection my application isn't even receiving a memory warning message. So...any ideas on what this might be and how I can erase this lag between selection and change in cell height? Oh, and one last thing - right now I'm testing this on the iPad, so if this is a problem there, I expect it to be worse on our other target devices (iPhone and iPod).

  I have a secret key that was sent to me as a file so I can encrypt some xml data using Blowfish. How do I access the key so that I can use it with AS3Crypto? I assume I need to Embed it using the [Embed] meta tag. It's mimeType="application/octet-stream" but I'm not sure if thats right. How do I embed, then reference this file as the secret key? The xmls that I'm encrypting cannot be decrypted on the Java side. Each attempt fails with this exception: javax.crypto.BadPaddingException: Given final block not properly padded. As a bonus, if anyone has experience using the lib to work with the Java implementation and knows the ideal mode/padding/IV to use that would be awesome. Thanks! //keyFile is an embedded asset. Users will fill in fields and the PHP will store user input in a MySql database (and, of course, they can use the designer to generate forms which query the database). I am using Borland C++ Builder (very similar to Delphi & and you can get the same idea from VB, MSVC, Qt ... any IDE with a RAD GUI designer). Looking at the W3C page http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_forms.asp it seems that the components I can use for my form and retrieve data from are - edit box / TEdit / <input type="text" - memo / TMemo / <input type="textarea" - check box / TCheckBox / <input type="CheckBox" - Combo box / TComboBox / <select ... <option... - Radio group / TRadioGroup / <input type="radio" - Group box / TGroupBox / <fieldset ... <legend ... - Panel / TPanel / <fieldset ... I am unsure whether to allow button / TButton/ input type="button" - other than a single submit button which my form designer program automatically adds to the end of the generated form. But my real question is - did I miss any? It might be nice to have masked edit which only accepts numbers, or maybe some form of "spin control" (TUpDown, or slider + linked read only TEdit), so that the user can click & hold to increment/decrement an integer value. And a calendar component would be nice. Very important: I want to implement it all server-side in PHP, so no client-side JS or Ajax or the likes. If there anything else that I can add to make my generated forms look more impressive in the browser?
