• jungledisk fails with libnotify error

  Has anyone had success getting the jungledisk application to work under Ubuntu? I installed it from the .deb file provided by jungledisk. The install goes fine, but I can't get the "jungle disk desktop" app to launch. It appears in the dash search bar, but doesn't launch or do anything upon selecting it. When I try the command line, I get the following... $ jungledisk -V -f Verbose mode enabled Shutting down... $ I get something more interesting with the following command ... something about libnotify.so $ junglediskdesktop -V -f junglediskdesktop: error while loading shared libraries: libnotify.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Does anyone have suggestions for what to try?

• Running PHP 5.2 FastCGI + Apache on CentOS 5 issue

  I am trying to setup 2 versions of PHP on Centos 5.9 using this tutorial: http://linuxplayer.org/2011/05/intall-multiple-version-of-php-on-one-server. I have followed I have installed default 5.4.19, and I was trying to setup another 5.2.17 PHP version to be run with Fast CGI and I followed the second part completely. However, when I try to run http://web2.example.com it returns 500 error message. In the apache log there are only 2 lines that repeat: [notice] mod_fcgid: call /var/www/web2/index.php with wrapper /usr/local/php52/bin/fcgiwrapper.sh and [notice] mod_fcgid: process /var/www/web2/index.php(25250) exit(server exited), terminated by calling exit(), return code: 255 Please note that I had to add .php at the and of the FCGIWrapper because apache would not start without it: FCGIWrapper /usr/local/php52/bin/fcgiwrapper.sh .php Also please note that http://web1.example.com with PHP 5.4.19 is working absolutely fine. • File system maintenance error, press ctrl+d to continue

  In my office I've Ubuntu 8.10 desktop installed and it's running for a long time. When ever the system is started, I'll get a file system maintenance error and something it's prompted for the root password or (press ctrl+d to continue). After pressing Ctrl+D the system normally boots up. I could not resolve this issue for a long time and I think something should be done in the fstab file. I'm not sure to do anything and expecting the experts here to help to perfectly fix this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

• when will google revert back page rank after i cleared network unrechable error

  For the past one month i was getting network unreachable error. I contacted my web hosting and they said that google bots were blocked if it were causing more traffic. And then they witelisted google bots. Now the errors did not appear but my ranking and search results went down to more than 6 pages or they did not appear at all. Now google is able to read my robots and sitemap. Just yesterday. when will search results and page rank gets to its previous positions? like it were before a month? Most links did not appear in google search result.

I have tried to create a VirtualHost called test.local, but as soon as I uncomment from /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf the line Include /private/etc/apache2/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf , and try to access test.local virtualhost I get an error "You don't have permission to access / on this server".   I am using gsm-ussd to try and query my data balance from my 3G modem. When I issue the commands gsm-ussd -m /dev/ttyUSB0 '*188#' or gsm-ussd -m /dev/ttyUSB2 '*188#' I get either "Device or resource busy" (when it is in used and connected) or "Unknown error (100)". My device (Huawei E173) seems to create 3 devices in /dev, namely ttyUSB0, ttyUSB1 and ttyUSB2. None of them work, and ttyUSB1 gives a somewhat different problem, as it just give the following message: * Wrong modem device (use -m <dev>)? * Modem broken (no reaction to AT)

  In my website I changed the directory name "vehicles-cars" to "vehicles-cars-for-sale". When I tried to redirect using a wild card redirect from my old directory name to new directory name in my web hosting cPanel account, I get an error every time I open pages from that directory: this webpage has a redirect loop The website is php. The problem is that that I have lots of pages with the old directory indexed in Google and they are getting duplicate content. I really need some advice on what to do with this problem. • my wiki site using mediawiki - databases not found error

  I had been using mediawiki opensource in my website to display programming articles. Today i tried to access my site but it showed database not found. Mediawiki uses many databases. When i logged in my control panel and checked i can see that most of the databases created by mediawiki is missing so is the reason i am getting this error. I have used mediawiki for two different purposes. It is like two modules. For one the databases are missing and for the other i think the data is corrupt. Do anybody know any issue with mediawiki security or would this be a problem with the webhosting cause we have faced several problems with them initially like before three years and recently the were good. Yet this happened. I have requested to hosting company to look into it and meanwhile i am expecting the help from stackexchange users. How do i check the logs for table deletion?

  Attempting a new installation of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on what was a dual boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS laptop ( Sony intel i3 core 64 bit with 500GB HDD). I followed the following procedure Install Ubuntu • has at least 4.4 GB available, is connected to the internet, download updates while installing and install this third-party are all ticked this time • I chose the Erase disk and install Ubuntu option ( since I want to have only Ubuntu 12.04 LTS operating system in my disk) Now shows The entire disk will be used • 501GB free disk I clicked the install now button. All data copied to the hard drive ( it was copied OK), askes for location, keyboared layout, and who are you. Started to install the Ubuntu 12.04 operating system. After some minutes, I got a report Installation failed, the installer encountered an unrecoverable error. A desktop session will now be run so that you may investigate the problem or try installing again. So, Please give me simple advice on how to proceed. Thank you

  Using Powerpoint viewer (2010), I want to show a Powerpoint show on my secondary display, i.e. the projector, not on my laptop screen. However, Powerpoint viewer always does full screen presentations on the primary display, even if I move the Powerpoint viewer program to the secondary display. Powerpoint and multiple monitors shows how to configure which display a Powerpoint presentation is shown on for the full version of Powerpoint. But how do I do this for Powerpoint viewer? One workaround is to clone monitors rather than having separate monitors displaying different things, but I'm still wondering if there's a better way.

• 403 error on index file

  When I try to access index.py in my server root through http://domain/, I get a 403 Forbidden error, but when I can access it through http://domain/index.py. In my server logs it says "Options ExecCGI is off in this directory: /var/www/index.py". However, my httpd.conf entry for that directory is the same as the ones for other directories, and getting to index.py works fine. My permissions are set to 755 for index.py. I also tried making a php file and naming it index.php, and it works from both domain/ and domain/index.php. • Multi users windows login?

  I need a way to login multiple users into windows at startup, in (XP/Vista/7) I need for each time windows starts, all registered users will automatically login and starts all apps in their startup folder under their own credentials. Any ideas how I could achieve this? i need a 'cheap' alternative to windows vps. lots of people need vps to run certain apps and leave it running. it's less likely they need full admin access other than installing those apps. instead of each users have their own vps running simple apps, it might be cheaper to have one multi-user server to accomplish this?

• nginx serving php for download (previously: nginx multiple location alias 404)

If i switch the root directory to /srv/http and alias the / location, die /phpmemcachedadmin and webgrind work, but not the / location. If i call localhost/phpmemcachedadmin/index.php it works quite well (i get a log that i got served the file in access log). On the other hand, if i just call localhost/phpmemcachedadmin/ he serves me the file for download. Neither the error.log nor the access.log log anything when i get served the the file for download. Any ideas?

• install matlab 2013a with error

  I tried to install Matlab2013a in my laptop (Ubuntu system). I download a ISO file (very big) and followed their instruction: mount it and run "install". But it returns me an error: Cannot locate Java Runtime Enviroment (JRE). The directory ~/Matlab/sys/java/jre/glnx86/jre does not exist. In the folder ~/Matlab/sys/java/jre/, what I have is "glnxa64". Does that mean that I can't install this version of Matlab in my 32bit laptop? This java comes from Matlab. How should I get it work?

• 14.04 LTS, 32-bit, Software Updater error "Failed to download repository information: Check your internet connection"

  There isn't much to say about this one: when I run Software Updater, I get the above error message. That can't be good. Interestingly, when I click on "Settings..." and then close the settings dialogue that pops up, all of a sudden Software Updater successfully finds updates and installs them. I thought I should bring this to the attention of the Ubuntu community. sudo apt-get update returns the following: W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/deluge-team/ppa/ubuntu/dists/trusty/main/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead. I have screen captures, but I don't have enough reputation points to post them.

• Free Multi monitor tools

  If this has been asked before I apologize (I did not see it in the "related questions"). What are some good free (yet spyware and adware free) multi-monitor tools? My trial of Ultramon just ran out and (sadly) my boss will not spring for a license. I want features like multiple task bars and Maximized window dragging (and/or other cool features I don't know about). I know that there is at least one out there that is free and allows moving windows easily between monitors. (Cause I had it before, but I can't remember its name.) I want to install it again or something similar/better.

• How can I use 2 monitors plus laptop with my Dell e6420 w/ Nvidia nvs 4200m

  I have just hooked up a 2nd external monitor to my Dell e6420 laptop with a Nvidia NVS 4200m graphics card, running Windows 8 64 bit. However, the computer won't let me have both monitors and the laptop display active at the same time. I installed the latest Nvidia graphics drivers (310.70) but it claims that my GPU can only support up to 2 monitors. Nivdia's website implies differently (as does various other laptops around the office). The monitors are connected both via DVI to my dell docking station that has multiple DVI ports. Both monitors are working correctly, I just can't get all 3 working together. Attempting to download the driver from dell fails, as their driver installer is broken apparently Any ideas?

• md5deep error with after compression and extraction

  I am using md5deep to generate the checksum for the contents of an entire directory. After generation, if I use the checksum file and run a check, there are no errors. However, if I compress the file and extract it, it seems to generate an error about a missing file. The file is just called .md5. There is no file called .md5 inside the directory. It seems to create a file that is not existent. This problem exists when I use md5sum or md5deep. Any thoughts on why this is happening?
