• jquery 'tablesorter' zebra widget do sort all column unnecessarily!

• Trying to Add Insert Row to Footer in GridView ASP.net

  Hi, I need to do migration date-timestamp with timezone similar to described here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1664627/migrating-oracle-date-columns-to-timestamp-with-timezone. But I need to make additional convertion (needed to work correctly with legacy apps): for all dates we need to change timezone to UTC and set time to 12:00 PM. So now dates are stored in local database (New York) timezone. I need to convert them this way 25/12/2009 09:12 AM (local timezone) in date column = 25/12/2009 12:00 PM UTC timestamp with local timezone column. Could you advice, how to set timezone for date value in Oracle (I found only suggestions how to convert from one timezone to another) (for example in Java there is setTimeZone method for Calendar objects). We want to make a convertion this way: rename old date column to NAME_BAK create new column timestamp with local timezone iterate over old column for not-null values set timezone to UTC, time to 12:00 PM drop old column after testing of this migration

We need to build a system that maintains a local copy of the data for each client. So basically the client database will have all tables and columns except for the ClientId that is in ever server table. I am aware that I will need to add fields to the server to support synchronization. Are there any good solutions or components already out there to help me accomplish this?   Isn't that nicely recursive? I've got a portable command prompt on my external drive, and it has a nice .bat file to configure some initial settings, but I'd like more! Here's what I know how to set from .bat: Colors = (color XY) where x and y are hex digits for the predefined colors Prompt = (prompt $p$g) sets the prompt to "C:\etc\etc " the default prompt Title = (title "text") sets the window title to "text" Screen Size = (mode con: cols=XX lines=YY) sets the columns and lines size of the window Path = (SET PATH=%~d0\bin;%PATH%) sets up local path to my tools and appends the computer's path So that's all great. But there are a few settings I can't seem to set from the bat.   I need to perform lots of evaluations of the form X(:,i)' * A * X(:,i) i = 1...n where X(:,i) is a vector and A is a symmetric matrix. Ostensibly, I can either do this in a loop for i=1:n z(i) = X(:,i)' * A * X(:,i) end which is slow, or vectorise it as z = diag(X' * A * X) which wastes RAM unacceptably when X has a lot of columns. Currently I am compromising on Y = A * X for i=1:n z(i) = Y(:,i)' * X(:,i) end which is a little faster/lighter but still seems unsatisfactory. I was hoping there might be some matlab/scilab idiom or trick to achieve this result more efficiently?

• PyQt: How to keep QTreeView nodes correctly expanded after a sort

  I'm writing a simple test program using QTreeModel and QTreeView for a more complex project later on. In this simple program, I have data in groups which may be contracted or expanded, as one would expect in a QTreeView. The data may also be sorted by the various data columns (QTreeView.setSortingEnabled is True). Each tree item is a list of data, so the sort function implemented in the TreeModel class uses the built-in python list sort: self.layoutAboutToBeChanged.emit() self.rootItem.childItems.sort(key=lambda x: x.itemData[col], reverse=order) for item in self.rootItem.childItems: item.childItems.sort(key=lambda x: x.itemData[col], reverse=order) self.layoutChanged.emit() The problem is that whenever I change the sorting of the root's child items (the tree is only 2 levels deep, so this is the only level with children) the nodes aren't necessarily expanded as they were before. If I change the sorting back without expanding or collapsing anything, the nodes are expanded as before the sorting change. Can anyone explain to me what I'm doing wrong? I suspect it's something with not properly reassigning QModelIndex with the sorted nodes, but I'm not sure.

It works in all modern browsers apart from ie7, in which you can drag and drop, but when you drop, it completely ruins the content of the box you're dropping. • Why isn't "String or Binary data would be truncated" a more descriptive error?

  To start: I understand what this error means - I'm not attempting to resolve an instance of it. This error is notoriously difficult to troubleshoot, because if you get it inserting a million rows into a table 100 columns wide, there's virtually no way to determine what column of what row is causing the error - you have to modify your process to insert one row at a time, and then see which one fails. That's a pain, to put it mildly. Is there any reason that the error doesn't look more like this? String or Binary data would be truncated Error inserting value "Some 18 char value" into SomeTable.SomeColumn VARCHAR(10) That would make it a lot easier to find and correct the value, if not the table structure itself. If seeing the table data is a security concern, then maybe something generic, like giving the length of the attempted value and the name of the failing column?

  Variations of this question have been answered, but none of which dealing with my issue. I don't know if this can be achieved or not but I thought if anyone knew they would know on here. I have a table with a thead and one row with many columns. I want the thead to remain fixed (the row is extremely long) however when the thead is fixed, it gets cut off at the end of the browser. Is there a way I can keep it fixed but when you scroll horozontally for the entire page you can see the rest of the thead?

  I have some data in Excel and need to import into database. Is there any tool that can validate and maybe clean the data? Does Red Gate have such tool? The input will be Excel. Given table constraints, eg. CHECK, UNIQUE KEY, datetime format, NOT NULL. Desire output should be as least shows which lines are having problems, and then fix some trivial error automatically, like fill in default value for NULL columns, automatically correct datetime format.   I want to split a large table horizontally, and I would like to make sure that all three of them have the same schema. This is bad, because if I decide to change the schema later (which will most certainly happen), I will have to change it three times, which begs for errors, so I would like a way to make sure that the other tables have the same schema without explicitly writing it again. I can use: statement .executeUpdate("CREATE TABLE AnnotationsBiologicalProcess AS SELECT * FROM AnnotationsMolecularFunction"); to create the other tables with the same columns, but the constraints are not aplied. I could of course just generate the same query-string three times with different table-names in Java, but I would like to know if there is an SQL-way of achieving this.

• JQuery Datatable Question: Centering column data after data insertion

  I have a data table that is initially empty and is populated after a particular Javascript call. After the data is inserted into the table, I'd like to center all of the data in one of the columns. I tried specifying this at the initialization step in this way: dTable = $('#dt').datatable({ 'aoColumns': [ null, null, { "sClass" : "center" }] }); The data in the third column was not centered after the insertions were complete. I tried modifying aoColumns after the insertions and redrawing the table as well: dTable.fnSettings().aoColumns[2].sClass = "center"; dTable.fnDraw(); This did not work either.   Hey guys, I'm working with pyODBC communicate with a MS SQL 2005 Express server. The table to which i'm trying to save the data consists of nvarchar columns. query = u"INSERT INTO tblPersons (name, birthday, gender) VALUES('" query = query + name + u"', '" query = query + birthday + u"', '" query = query + gender + u"')" cur.execute(query ) The variables name, birthrday and gende are read from an Excel file and they are Unicode strings. When I execute the query and either look at the table with SQL Server Management Studio or execute a query that fetches the data that was just inserted, all the data that was written in a non-English languages turn into question marks. The data that was written in English is preserved and appears in the table in the correct way. I tried adding CHARSET=UTF16 to my connection string, but had no luck with that. I can use UTF-8 which works fine but as a working convention, I need all the data saved in my DB to be UTF16. Thanks!

  I have an issue when the T4 linq templates generate the classes for my MySql db using subsonic 3. It looks like one of our table names "operator" is causing problems in the Context.cs generated class. In the following line of code in Context.cs Visual Studio sees <operator> as a c# operator and generates a compilation error of "Type expected" public Query<operator> operators { get; set; } Is there anyway I can work around this without having to rename my database table and column names? For example hard coding something in Settings.ttinclude to use or map different names to specific db tables and columns?

  I'm using mysql to create an hotel booking system, but i am struggling a little bit to calculate the final bill. I need a SELECT command to get data from several tables and make some calculations. Basically I just need to get the 'night cost' from a table called 'room_types'. Then, use DATEDIFF function to get the difference of days between the 'checkin' and 'checkout' columns in the table 'room_booking' and multiply the difference with the night cost and display the total. These are the tables I would be using: are room_booking, room_types, booking, and room. Center is links for january thru december. When you click a month links, the calendar will show that month you've clicked in the current year the calendar is on. Note : 'code_summary_id' is define as column in code_set_detail table, and define as primary key in code_summary table. To sum-up, I would like define 'code_summary_id' as primary key in code_summary table, and map 'code_summary_id' in code_set_detail table. How to define a primary key in a table, and also map this key to another table ?

• PyGTK: Doubleclick on CellRenderer

  Hello! In my PyGTK application I currently use 'editable' to make cells editable. But since my cell contents sometimes are really really large I want to ask the user for changes in a new window when he doubleclicks on a cell. But I could not find out how to hook on double-clicks on specific cellrenderers - I don't want to edit the whole row and I also don't want to set this callback for the whole row, only for columns where too long content can occur. How can I do this with CellRendererText() or something similar. My currently cell-generating code is: cols[i] = gtk.TreeViewColumn(coltitle) cells[i] = gtk.CellRendererText() cols[i].pack_start(cells[i]) cols[i].add_attribute(cells[i], 'text', i) cols[i].set_sizing(gtk.TREE_VIEW_COLUMN_FIXED) cols[i].set_fixed_width(100) cells[i].set_property('editable', True) cells[i].connect('edited', self.edited, (i, ls)) cols[i].set_resizable(True) mytreeview.append_column(cols[i]) Thanks!
