  I am using Ninject and ADO.Net Entity Framework in my Aps.Net (Mvc) website. I bind the ObjectContext to Ninject using the RequestScope: Bind<Entities>().ToSelf().InRequestScope().WithConstructorArgument("connectionString", _connectionString); In most cases this works perferct. But sometimes I got the following error: The ObjectContext instance has been disposed and can no longer be used for operations that require a connection. This error occurs at different positions while getting, updating, inserting or deleting data. In some cases this error occurs until I reset my webapp and sometimes it disappears after some requests. I am displeased that I have no more details. Because it seems that there is no pattern when and where this error occurs. Because the time and position is allways different :( Some hints or ideas?

  I'm trying to build application that use single config passed by server as non native JSON (can contain functions). Everything works fine so far but I'm curious why PagingToolbar does not have an option to use parent Grid store? I have tried to set store in my config like this, but without success: {... store:Ext.StoreMgr.lookup('unique_store_id') } Is there any way to do so without writing tons of javascript for each view defining store, grid and other items in my application or at least extend functionality of PaginationToolbar that use options from parent object? • Can the same CriteriaBuilder (JPA 2) instance be used to create multiple queries?

  This seems like a pretty simple question, but I have not managed to find a definitive answer yet. I have a DAO class, which is naturally querying the database by using criteria queries. So I would like to know if it is safe to use the same CriteriaBuilder implementation for the creation of different queries or do I have to create new CriteriaBuilder instance for each query. Following code example should illustrate what I would like to do: public class DAO() { CriteriaBuilder cb = null; public DAO() { cb = getEntityManager().getCriteriaBuilder(); } public List<String> getNames() { CriteriaQuery<String> nameSearch = cb.createQuery(String.class); ... } public List<Address> getAddresses(String name) { CriteriaQuery<Address> nameSearch = cb.createQuery(Address.class); ... } } Is it ok to do this?

  "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" This is probably one of the most common run-time errors in .NET. Although the System.Exception has a stack trace, why does the exception not also show the name of the object reference field, or at least its type? Over the course of a year I spend hours sifting through stack traces (often in code I did not write), hoping there is a line number from a ".pdb" file, then finding the line in the code, and even then it is often not obvious which reference on the line was null. Having the name of the reference field would be very convenient. If System.ArgumentNullException instances can show the name of the method parameter ("Value cannot be null. Parameter name: value"), then surely System.NullReferenceException instances could include the name of the null field (or its containing collection).

• Unable to display data in a WPF datagrid that has a DataView instance as the items source

  I am using a DataGrid object from the WPF toolkit. I am binding the DataGrid object to the default view of a DataTable instance as declared in the following code: WeatherGrid.ItemsSource = weatherDataTable.DefaultView; weatherDataTable has three columns. The first column is defined to contain a string data type. The other two columns are defined to contain double data types. When the application exits the function that calls the binding as expressed in the declaration, The DataGrid object displays data for the first column, but not the other columns. When I type the following in the immediate window in the debugger: ((DataRowView)WeatherGrid.Items[0]).Row[1] I get a number, but this doesn't correspond with what is being displayed. Why is only the first column visible, and how can I get all of the data to be visible? • Accessing Singleton Instance Variable in Class Methods Throws Warning?

  Hello, I've using the Objective-C singleton from here at stackoverflow. The singleton in the class method accesses it's instance variable, which works, but throws a complie warning. How should I be doing this? Is there a way to do this without accessing the sharedInstance: in each class method? for example here is my class method: + (NSString *)myClassMethods { [instanceDateFormatter setFormat:@"MM"]; return [instanceDateFormatter stringWithDate:somedate]; } line 2 will have the complie warning. • Can't use ProcessWindowStyle.Minimized to start Firefox instance minimized?

  I'm having trouble using Process.Start with Firefox. I want to start a new instance of Firefox in a minimized window. The following works fine with Internet Explorer, notepad, etc.: ProcessStartInfo p = new ProcessStartInfo(); p.FileName = "iexplore.exe"; p.Arguments = "http://www.google.com"; p.WindowStyle = ProcessWindowStyle.Minimized; Process.Start(p); This opens IE in a new, minimized window. Good, just what I want. If I try the exact same thing but instead supply Firefox in the p.FileName, it opens Firefox in a "normal" window, rather than minimized. I've tried various changes to arguments, also have tried examining my local Firefox settings (under Tools/Options) with no luck. I'm sure I'm just missing something simple, but can't figure out what it is. If anyone can help me with getting Firefox opened in a minimized state it would be greatly appreciated!

• How to get visual studio 10 to open .mk files in the same instance?

  I've recently been migrated to windows 7, and upon re-installing VS2010, it seems to want to treat .mk files differently than it used to. For whatever reason, it insists on opening a new instance of visual studio to edit these files. It doesn't for .c, .h, etc. I've tried using types, a freeware association manager, to change how it is associated. I've deleted the association, recreated, etc. but it still seems to want to treat these separately. Anybody know how to beat this thing into submission?

Consider a VBA UDF: Public Function f(x) End Function When you call this from the worksheet, 'x' will be a number, string, boolean, error, array, or object of type 'Range'. Can it ever be, say, an instance of 'Chart', 'ListObject', or any other Excel-VBA object model class? (The question arose from me moving to Excel 2007 and playing with Tables, and wondering if I could write UDFs that accept them as parameters instead of Ranges. The answer to that seems to be no, but then I realized I didn't know for sure in general.)

• How Do I get the current instance from an AppDomain?

  Hi, I use the default appdomain (AD) which I use to create new appdomains (AD1) when required for running plugins in isolation. When creating the new domain I also wire up the AppDomainUnload event to allow me to call clean up code etc. The issue I seem to have is: 1) Create AD1 from AD 2) Run code in AD1 3) Call AD.Unload(AD1) The code switches to AD1 and calls the unloading event passing in a reference to the current AppDomain (AD1). At this point I'd like to get a reference to the current instance running in AD1 to call a shutdown method however there is no GetInstance on the AppDomain class. Any ideas how I can go about getting it?

Any ideas?

  Should I give my class members default values like this: class Foo: num = 1 or like this? class Foo: def __init__(self): self.num = 1 In this question I discovered that in both cases, bar = Foo() bar.num += 1 is a well-defined operation. I understand that the first method will give me a class variable while the second one will not. However, if I do not require a class variable, but only need to set a default value for my instance variables, are both methods equally good? Or one of them more 'pythonic' than the other? One thing I've noticed is that in the Django tutorial, they use the second method to declare Models. Personally I think the second method is more elegant, but I'd like to know what the 'standard' way is.

There are 2 views interfaces that forms implement IMainView { event OnClick; ... } IChildView { ... } There are two presenters MainPresenter(IMainView) & ChildPresenter(IChildView) MainPresenter listens to OnClick event and then should create IChildView implementation. MainPresenter { ... MainClicked() { // it's required to create IChildView instance here } } How would you implement such creation typically? Shall IMainView has factory method for IChildView or may be it should be separate Views factory. What would you advise? Or maybe there is some misunderstanding of MVP here? Thank you in advance!

  Given an instance of IDirect3DDevice9, what approaches are available to put it in its original render state (i.e. the state it was in when the device was initially created)? The cleanest way that I've come across is to create a state block via IDirect3DDevice9::CreateStateBlock just after the device has been created so that it can be applied later. Unfortunately, I'm operating under the constraints of an existing project such that I can't modify the device creation code; by the time my component gets the device, its default state has been modified. I assume that it's what it's for, right? My guess is that if anyone would want to write such a constructor, he would have to add some more code that copies the attributes of the first object to the one about to be created.

  Hi everyone, I have a shell script that creates Firefox profiles and then uses them to open multiple instances of Firefox simultaneously. The problem is how can I open a URL in a particular instance of Firefox? I have tried firefox -CREATEPROFILE test firefox -P 'test' -no-remote firefox -P test -url www.google.ie But the last part which is trying to open the URL using the test profile does not work, it always opens in then default profile. Is there any way to tell Firefox from the command line to open a URL using a particular profile? Thanks.

• How to configure Spring-DM OSGi service for new instance per call?

  I'm starting to delve into using Spring DM and OSGi services in an RCP application. I've created a service which is used by another bundle in the RCP application. It does a lookup of the service via calls to getBundleContext().getServiceReference() using the explicit bundle names and service class names. I'm not using DI anywhere yet. The issue I'm running into is that the service that is returned in the requesting bundle is a singleton. At times I notice a threading issue since it is a "stateful" service. How do I configure the application to get back a new service instance with each call?
