Hi,
Is it possible to clone only the software installed on a machine? Obviously in order to copy it to an identical machine that doesn't have the software installed.
Thanks
Using Centos 5.4 here and I have two machines on the same network but only one has access to the outside world. I want to install software using yum on one machine, and rather than download the packages and copy them over manually, I'd like to set it up so it can use the other machine as a gateway.
Any tips on tips on how to do this?
How can I test a site that uses one or more static domains for serving images locally?
e.g.
domain.tld with images servered from static.domain.tld
Local working copy of the site on WAMP checked out from SVN: URLs will be pointing at static.domain.tld rather than static.domain.local
I declined a recurring meeting invitation in Outlook 2007 to let the organizer know I am unable to attend, which will be true most of the time. But there will be rare occasions when I could attend so I would like to have this declined meeting show up on my calendar. Currently, it is sitting in my Deleted Items folder and I find no way to move/copy/transfer it to the calendar. Also, contrary to this post -- I do not even see an option to redo my accept/decline choice.
Mac OS X's Finder seems to be the equivalent to Windows Explorer. In Windows, I enjoy having multiple instances of Explorer open to move/copy files from one folder in a window, to another folder in another window.
How can I achieve this in Snow Leopard?
I'd like to have shortcut key, as well as a dock icon solution. Or maybe there's a better program than Finder out there that does this?
We use "Copy file.prn to \tsclient\com1" to print from a TS session to a locally attached serial printer.
This works fine from Windows XP, but when trying it from a Windows 7 client computer, we get an "Access is denied" error message.
And yes, the check box of COM port is selected on the Local Resources tab of the Remote Desktop Connection client.
Any pointers? Has anyone even managed to do this successfully?
I have an exchange sever 2003 installed and working. I have a new exchange 2007 server on another network. The two networks are completely separate with no connection. How can I take the 2003 mailboxes and put them on the new 2007 system? The move mailbox normal option on 2007 will not be able to see the old 2003 exchange server.
I was hoping I could just copy the database and mount it, but this doesnot seem to work.
Thanks
Using Dolphin in KDE I have opened a particular (password protected) samba share, by typing in the IP address and navigating to the right folder. However I can't find any way to save this location for future use (other than saving the URL to a text file and copy-pasting it into Dolphin).
I would be happy with some kind of bookmark in Dolphin or a desktop shortcut, etc.
I am trying to export my thunderbird mails and mail accounts from my old win7 32bit to a new win7 64 bit.
Both have the same version (16.0.1). Earlier in this situation I just copy the Thunderbird folder found under my user data account (tried both local and roaming), but this is not working in this scenario.
I also tried to use Thunderbird export/import function, but it gives me a blank screen. This is what I am talking about:
I am about to start working with a Mac and a PC - so I will be doing some work on the PC and some work on the Mac.
I think my main concern is my Exchange email. DO you think its possible to check email on both machines - perhaps a setting to download to the Mac but keep a copy on the server or how would you suggest juggling both these machines at work?
I was using a trial from PGP. Now have a license supplied by the company I work for.
Upon trying to overwrite/upgrade - PGP is reporting that its using the 'old', namely trial license. Which has long expired.
How can I completely rid my machine of PGP - and thus be able to install a fresh copy?
Where does this pesky license file reside?
OS: 10.6.2
PGP: 10
Do you know of any application that can record both sound and the screen.
Camstudio records only the screen but not the sound. Coming out from the monitor.
How do I do this one, because I frequently stream online content. So that I'll just record it and I will have a copy of that stream
I just upgraded my new desktop which came installed with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit with a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and so far I have not noticed any difference in performance. Even my Windows Experience Index number is the same 5.5 that it was before the upgrade.
So what's the point, are there any performance advantages that I'm not seeing?
Additional Info
My system hardware specs:
AMD quad core 2.6 GHZ
1 TB 4200 RPM HDD
8 GB DDR2 RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4650 w/ 1GB dedicated video memory
I often use tortoisesvn to checkout or update a working copy on a development server. Whenever I do this, it seems to slow down the network and other users complain that browsing websites and accessing files on the dev server is slow.
Is this a common bug in Subversion or has anyone else has come across similar problems?
I am new to ubuntu . Someone refer me to this if i want to make a installable copy of Ubuntu from already installed Ubuntu.

Is there any application that can virtualize the BIOS?So that you can see the effects of what the changes in the setting of your BIOS. I know that there are many versions of BIOS depending on your hardware. But is it possible to copy it and then virtualize it when you are running your system.
So that you can see if your system can still run after changing the settings.
I have a video of a tennis match whose
Resolution = 1280 * 720
Codec = H264
Frame rate = 50fps
(Copy paste from info given by totem media player)
My laptop is not powerful enough to play this video smoothly. How can I reduce the frame-rate of this video so that my laptop can play it? I have observed that my laptop can play videos with 25fps without an issue.
I use ubuntu. I wouldn't mind using windows to edit/re-encode this video.
I am searching for software that can reconstruct the exact pixels from a photo of an old videogame or a piece pixel-art. The goal would be the re-digitalization of digital images that only survived in an analog copy, say images of Mario Paint that where captured on a VHS tape or old digital art that only survived as a printout. Does such software exist?
How I can easily apply a template to an existing OO Calc file?
AFAIK it is possible only to make a new file from a template, copy the sheets in it, and save/overwrite the old file. But I don't like this way; there is a easier/better way to do this? Like a macro, or something like that.
I just need to repeatedly apply page margins to my sheet.
I know I can make an easy transfer of everything using time machine, but I'm trying to transfer the minimum necessary to the new computer (applications I currently use, Aperture database, etc.) in order to keep the new machine as clean as possible, and avoid starting out with any legacy problems with permissions, etc.
Clearly, I can copy individual apps and databases to an external drive and then install them on the new machine, but I'm trying to find an easier way.
Is there a way to upgrade my 32-bit version of Ubuntu to 64-bit version? I use Ubuntu 9.10.
If there is no simple way, what if I simply copy my home and /etc directories to new installation, will it work?
I copy the cmd.exe to a new location, then I run it to get the current directory location at that folder. But just recently, there is always this message:
Impossibile trovare il testo del messaggio per il numero di messaggio 0x2350 nel file di messaggio per Application.
Impossibile trovare il testo del messaggio per il numero di messaggio 0x2334 nel file di messaggio per Application.
C:\cygwin\home\Hoang>
Someone know how to solve it?
I have 2 virtual machines (with Debian, using KVM) with virtual hard drives:
/srv/kvm/ssh.img
/srv/kvm/www.img
Both have 3 partitions (/, /home, swap).
I want to convert them in a RootFS usable with LXC (in order to use LXC instead of KVM).
The only solution I have for the moment is:
create a new RootFS
copy /home partition into it
reproduce the same configuration into it
But is there an automated way to do it
