• PHP/MySQL won't update decimal field

  I have this query: UPDATE table_name SET field_1 = field_1 +100, field_2 = field_2 +100, field_3 = field_3 +100 WHERE id = 1 LIMIT 1; Where Field_1 is regular integer, Field_2 is decimal(15,6) and Field_3 is double(15,6). When I run this query from php script they update just field_1 and nothing happen with field_2 and field_3 they just stay as before. But when I run in phpMyAdmin it's work without any problems. I'm tried to lock tables, make round() before run update, nothing help. Please help... why I can't update decimal and float fields from php? PHP version: 5.2 Mysql version 5

  I have a array of integer numbers (say 1,2,3,4,5 or 1,2,3, ... 10 or 1,2,3, ... 50) from which I would like to get a random set of numbers ordered differently every time. Is there a utility method to do this? e.g. for 1,2,3,4,5 post randomization it might be either [1,5,4,2,3 or 2,1,3,5,4 or 3,1,2,4,5 or ...] I would like to know if there is a java utility method / class which already provides this capability?

• Plotting Points in Java with Interaction

  I have a large number of data points which are two dimensional coordinates with non-integer values (floats). I am looking for a Java library that can help me plot these points, allowing for custom point size, color, and labels. Further, I would like the user to be able to interact with the points with panning and zooming, and I want to be able to capture KeyEvents from the user. Processing looks great for what I want, but I don't want to do everything from scratch. Is there a better solution? Thanks in advance.

There's a solution for how to acheive that if the integer represents a count/average/etc of some DB field, which is not the case for me. • MS SQL Server 2000 tables

  We currently have an MS SQL Server 2000 database with one table containing data for multiple users. The data is keyed by memberid which is an integer field. The table has a clustered index on memberid. The table is now about 200 million rows. Indexing and maintenance are becoming issues. We are debating splitting the table into one table per user model. This would imply that we would end up with a very large number of tables potentially upto the 2,147,483,647, considering just positive values. My questions: 1) Does anyone have any experience with a MS SQL Server (2000/2005) installation with millions of tables? 2) What are the implications of this architecture with regards to maintenance and access using Query Analyzer, Enterprise Manager etc. 3) What are the implications to having such a large number of indexes in a database instance.   I've a simple but confusing doubt about whether the program below runs in exponential time. The question is : given a +ve integer as input, print it out. The catch is that you deliberately do this in a loop, like this: int input,output=0; cininput; while(input--) ++output; // Takes time proportional to the value of input cout<< output; I'm claiming that this problem runs in exponential time. Because, the moment you increase the # of bits in input by 1, the program takes double the amount of time to execute. Put another way, to print out log2(input) bits, it takes O(input) time. Is this reasoning right?

  I was trying out an experiment with Python, trying to find out how many times it could add one to an integer in one minute's time. Assuming two computers are the same except for the speed of the CPUs, this should give an estimate of how fast some CPU operations may take for the computer in question. The code below is an example of a test designed to fulfill the requirements given above. This version is about 20% faster than the first attempt and 150% faster than the third attempt. Can anyone make any suggestions as to how to get the most additions in a minute's time span? Higher numbers are desireable.   I had a list of tuples where every tuple consists of two integers and I wanted to sort by the 2nd integer. After looking in the python help I got this: sorted(myList, key=lambda x: x[1]) which is great. My question is, is there an equally succinct way of doing this in C# (the language I have to work in)? I know the obvious answer involving creating classes and specifying an anonymous delegate for the whole compare step but perhaps there is a linq oriented way as well.   I'm trying to set a special cell number format with theses rules: display percentage display at max 3 digits (decimal + integer part) So I can display 100% or 99.3% or 1.27% but not 100.9% or 100.27% or 99.27%. Of course, I can have negative number (-27.3%) and it does not affect my rules. I've try with the cell formating option without success: [<1]0.00%;[<10]0.0%;0% Because it seemed that excel (2010) does not support more than 2 conditions in cell formating (and so I can't expand it to manage negative number...) However, in 2.8.0 RC1, I get an error message: <console>:6: error: value y is not a member of object X X.y = 1 ^ Interestingly, just trying to call the method without parentheses fails as well: scala> X.y_= 1 <console>:1: error: ';' expected but integer literal found. X.y_= 1 ^ Am I misremembering something which does actually exist or did I just invent it out of whole cloth?

• Why is sqrt() not a method on Float?

  In Ruby everything is an object. That's why I don't understand why we have the Math module. It seems to me that most (all?) of the functions in the Math module should have been methods on the numeric types like Integer, Float and so on. E.g. instead of Math.sqrt(5) it would make more sense to have 5.sqrt The same goes for sin, cos, tan, log10 and so on. Does anyone know why all these functions ended up in the Math module?

In order fill each object with different color I would be very happy to use a function that can for a given color gimme a next one or so. In Qt there is a nice one that is called nextColor or so, returns the integer representing the next color(which can be easily translated to RGB). Does Cocoa have sth like that?
