• Disable new invisible border feature? (ruins compiz grid)

  A new feature was added recently that adds an invisible border around the windows to grab for resizing (although i thought the new resize grip solved any big issues). This annoys me because it destroys the usefulness of the grid plugin of compiz.. i'm not sure if the border is part of compiz or gnome, but i'd like to know how to disable it. i couldn't find any options in ccsm or the window settings in gnome. See the screenshot to see how much waste is caused. These windows should match up instead of having blank space surrounding all of them.

• HTML Tidy for NetBeans IDE 7.4

  The NetBeans HTML5 editor is pretty amazing, working on an extensive screencast on that right now, to be published soon. One thing missing is HTML Tidy integration, until now: As you can see, in this particular file, HTML Tidy finds 6 times more problems (OK, some of them maybe false negatives) than the standard NetBeans HTML hint infrastructure does. You can also run the scanner across the whole project or all projects. Only HTML files will be scanned by HTML Tidy (via JTidy) and you can click on items in the window above to jump to the line. Future enhancements will include error annotations and hint integration, some of which has already been addressed in this blog over the years. • Trigger event on email send with old VB6 Outlook add-in

  I have a fairly old Outlook add-in written in VB6. This adds a toolbar on the Outlook ribbon with buttons for various bits of functionality which interact with emails in the inbox, the contact list and calendar. I have been asked if it would be possible to trigger some of the functions of this add-in when a user hits "Send" on an email. Does anyone know if it is possible to hook a VB6 program into the send event, or if it would be possible to write a new plugin, using .Net as an example, which could hook into the send event and trigger the functionality on the old plug in?? Sorry if this is a bit vague, it is a little hard to explain. If you need to know anything further, just ask, otherwise any advice is greatly appreciated!

• I need a multi-language site with webshop functionality. Which CMS to choose?

  I need to develop a multi-language site which includes simple webshop functionality. I have extended experience with WordPress. There are numerous shopping cart plugins available for WordPress however none of them is compatible with multi-language plugins such as WMPL. Drupal is an option I looked into (using i18n and Ubercart) and I am not sure this is the solution I am looking for. Another solution I considered is to develop a custom WordPress cart plugin that is compatible with WPML. Anyone familiar with this situation? Any recommendation regarding CMSes that fit my needs?   When Sun released Solaris 10, it was my first migration phase to a new Solaris major release while being part of Sun. At that time i heard a lot of comments between "Oh, we will install it on new systems on day 1" to "oh ... not that fast ... we will wait ... we are not that fast ... we will do it in a year". • Hosted News Carousel

  I'm trying to add a news carousel on my OneHub site. I know there are quite a few plugins that I can use, but I'm looking for a ready-to-use hosted solution where people can log-on and manage the content, and I can simply include as an iFrame widget on our OneHub site. We would prefer to use Expression Engine, since we're using this on some of our other websites. It looks like Expression Engine + JQuery Cycle Rotator might be an option, not sure how easily I can get this onto OneHub though... WordPress has a carousel plugin as well that I'll explore. Anyhow, while I'm trying out these options, I figured I would put a question out there for any thoughts or advice, other solutions, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Alan

• Empathy sametime client id

  I have been using Pidgin as an all-in-one IM client, but now as Empathy is the default app in Ubuntu I wanted to try it out. I have a sametime account at an external company that is keen to restrict access to their service from certain sametime client versions only. I was able to trick it with pidgin by specifying the following settings in accounts.xml: <setting name='client_minor' type='int'>8510</setting> <setting name='client_major' type='int'>30</setting> <setting name='client_id_val' type='int'>4876</setting> I tried to do the same in Empathy but I failed. As far as I know, Pidgin and Empathy use the same connector Plugin for sametime, so basically the functions should be there somewhere but there is little information about the configuration files and that doesn't discuss any sametime specific options.

• How to update the USB Ubuntu (ISO) with new software

  I have Peppermint (based on Ubuntu) running of USB. Its bascially an ISO image that loads using Grub4Dos. Problem is that I each time I load Ubuntu - and want to use i.e. teamviewer or Firefox...I have to install it on the running live system. Since its running from a ISO image...a reboot means the software is gone. I can edit/open the ISO image using WinImage (on XP) - would you know how I can add extra software into this ISO image so next time Ubuntu loads...the new software is on there? Is there some special repositary director where I should copy the software files into and recreate the ISO image? The directory structure of this iso image is along the lines of: .disk [BOOT] Casper dists install isolinux pool preseed Appreciate your help with this. The software I am really interested in installing is the plugin for LogMeIn (for which I may need Firefox...thus I need Firefox installation) and Teamviewer. Thanks Nakata

  I have a jobs website. There are categories and sub categories e.g the url for builders is www.mydomain.com/jobs/all/active/202/tradesmen/799/builders/county/all Because of the framework im using (Elgg), the "all" and "active" come after the plugin name. Also, i need to do a lot of things with the url: get the pplugin (job), get the correct type of entities (all and active), get the category (202 and tradesmen), get the subcategory (799 & builders) and get the location (county and all). Is this URL seo friendly or is it too messy? Is something like www.mydomain.com/jobs/tradesmen/builders/all better?

• Player position triggering teleports

  I'm developing a Minecraft plugin (bukkit) in which a server admin can create 'portals' - a small region that will teleport any players who enter it. I have the teleportation sorted and I know how I could define areas that the player's position could be tested against. This would involve an ArrayList containing the zones and then hooking the PlayerMoveEvent so that the ArrayList is searched each time for a matching portal region. Although this method would work, I doubt that it would be very efficient when 100+ players are all moving around at the same time. Is there a better way of checking a player position against a set of 'zones' / regions?

  I installed Ubuntu 14.04 on my computer : i3/4G/750G/VGA Intel HD3000 & 1GB NVidia with CUDA GT540M. I've some problems with Ubuntu 14.04 : Does Ubuntu 14.04 support Emerald Theme Manager? Emerald Theme Manager is not available in Ubuntu Software Center? I installed Compiz and Compiz Setting Manager, it works ok, but the Windows 3D plugin is not work? The Shutdown/Restart function on Right-Top Panel is not work, is there any solution for this problem? The mouse theme I installed only work in current session, next time i restart computer it change back to default mouse theme? How can i resize the spacing between Desktop Icon? My client wants to deploy this app on Mac OS X, Windows, Android and iOS. I was looking for development softwares valid for both: Desktop and Mobile, but it is still not clear for me and that´s what I found. Unity - Looks very good but to create a native plugin for reading from the device it lloks like I need the PRO edition. Adobe Air - Looks good but I´m not sure if I can write Native Plugins for all wanted platforms. LiveCode - Still inmature (lots of bugs) and I don´t know if it is possible to write native plugins for my device. Is there any other good platform for my case? What´s your option?

• Android Java: Way to effectively pause system time while debugging?

  In my project, I call nanoTime and use that to get a deltaTime which I pass to my entities and animations. However, while debugging (for example, stepping through my code), the system time on my phone is happily chugging along, so it's impossible to look at, say, two sequential frames of data in the debugger (since by the time I'm done looking at the first frame, the system time has continued to move ahead by seconds or even minutes). Is there a programming practice or method to pause the system clock (or a way for my code to intercept and fake my deltaTime) whenever I pause execution from the debugger? Additional Information: I'm using Eclipse Classic with the ADT plugin and a Samsung SII, coding in Java. • As good as no bounces are registered in Google Analytics [on hold]

  For a client I am having an issue for which I can't find an explanation. For some reason, bounces are no longer measured (or almost none) in GA. In GA I can see that the issue started in January 2013. I have been looking at the code inside and out, but I can't find any reason why. On the production site, there is (will be removed soon) a POST done on page load, so I thought that Google might see this as user interaction, hence never counting a bounce, but on staging i removed this POST and in the GA account for staging, still no bounces are registered. I have also checked if the tracking code appears twice on the page, and this is not the case. I tried with the GA debug plugin in Firefox and Chrome to see if that would learn me anything, but no luck... The site in question is www.kiala.be.

• Can I set command line executed games to open in a window instead of fullscreen?

  I really enjoy some of the free Linux games and just downloaded Cave Story, one of my all-time favorites. However, I can only play the game in full screen, 800X600 Resolution. I was wondering if I could run this program in a window instead of full screen. Is there a command or Unity plugin to do this? Also, would the same work to run SuperTux in a window as well? I'm running 12.04 if that makes any difference. Thanks for your help.

  My client needs a site customers can use to pay the membership fees and join. It should also track when old members need to pay again. There are some members that will not want to pay online and they want to be able to use the site to manage all payments. The CMS must be cheap to host online, potentially with something like GitHub/Heroku. I am experienced with PHP and RoR. I am using a CMS so once I am done with this project it is easy for them to update. After reading through different posts I think WordPress with an e-commerce Plugin may be the right solution. Spree and WebGUI also looks promising. Thanks for the help.

• Can I use Unity with XMonad?

  I've been using Fedora for a while, but I recently decided to upgrade my ubuntu installation from 12.04 to 12.10. While I was using Fedora, I found xmonad tiling window manager which I sort of got working with xfce. I really like xmonad and I now automatically use the keyboard shortcuts without even thinking. So I would like to use xmonad with unity. Now, I have seen several blog posts etc. that explain how to setup the whole thing in 12.04, with Unity2D. But now, Unity2D has been removed, and the old methods no longer apply. I have read that Unity is actually just a Compiz plugin, and that the wm can't be replaced. Does no version of Unity have a replaceable WM? I've also tried MATE (GNOME2 fork) with xmonad on 12.10 and that is totally broken for me, but that's for another question.

• Dropbox and IIS

  I'm running into the problem of using Dropbox and IIS. I am using the Dropbox Folder Sync plugin to sync a folder outside the Dropbox folder. They are synced into my inetpub\root\downloads\ directory. The problem is not that it doesn't sync. The problem is that the files that get synced have no permissions attached to them. I can't open any of them on IIS. Initially the downloads were to be only PDFs but they don't open so I tried an .ASPX file and it fails to load as well. Is there any way around this or another program I can use to sync files but allow them to be opened on an IIS server. Thanks for any help!

  I have icedtea6-plugin installed on my Ubuntu box. The weird thing is, when I am browsing the internet, certain website are able to use the Java and some websites are not. For instance, I am able to log in to my bank at nordea.dk. They use a Java applet to authenticate the user. But when I try to use keepvid.com, it says "Loading Java Applet". And then after a minute or two it says "Error: Please click here to download Java. If you already have Java, please restart your browser and try again." The thing is I've restarted my computer, closed and opened my browser(chromium) and none of it seems to help. Could someone please point me in the right direction to solve this problem? Thanks.

  I have a unity project and I use a Android (java) plugin to get camera data. I draw this on a TextureView. I want to hide/show this view when I press a button in unity.
