  • Why isn't this javascript code working?

    - by DarkLightA
    http://jsfiddle.net/LU3pE/ I want the function to make the arguments into a single string and return it. What have I done incorrectly? function cooncc(divider, lastdiv){ var returner; for (var i = 0; i < (arguments.length - 2); i++) { returner += arguments[i+2] + divider; } returner -= divider; returner += lastdiv + arguments[arguments.length - 1]; return divider; } var output = cooncc(", ", ", and ", "Andy", "Becky", "Caitlin", "Dave", "Erica", "Fergus", "Gaby"); document.body.innerHTML = "<h1>" + output + ".</h1>";

  • JavaScript: Change to Absolute Positioning

    - by Doug
    I'm trying to center a page on any resolution while still being able to use absolute positioning to move pictures. I figure that the best way would be to have a table positioned relatively in the beginning in the center of the page, then change it to absolute positioning in the onload of the page. I think the correct line is: document.getElementById("Object").style.position = "absolute"; However, I put an alert box after it asking where the left side of the object is, I get undefined. But, if I directly assign it to a position (Object.style.left = 500) I will get that number. So I can assign it a value, meaning it is in absolute position, but I cannot pull a value out of that. Kind of confusing but hopefully it makes sense and someone knows what to do. Thanks.

  • Position Div using Javascript on page refresh

    - by Jonathan Lyon
    Hi all I have a div that I would like to reposition each time the page is refreshed. It is currently set in the css using top and left. I wold like to pass the top and left values on page refresh. #inneriframe { position:absolute; top:-170px; left:-5px; width:1280px; height:1200px; } The content is from another site and contained in an iframe and I want the viewport of the div to change(within certain limits) each time the page is refreshed. The original page is here http://labs.ideeinc.com/multicolr#colors=8438AD; I have iFramed part of it here http://www.weninja.com/what-we-do Full code <style type="text/css"> #outerdiv { width:280px; height:150px; overflow:hidden; position:relative; } #inneriframe { position:absolute; top:-170px; left:-5px; width:1280px; height:1200px; } </style> <div id='outerdiv'> <iframe src="http://labs.ideeinc.com/multicolr#colors=8438AD;" id='inneriframe' scrolling=no></iframe> </div> <h5>Multicolr Search Lab &copy; 2008 Idee Inc</h5> So basically I just need to change the TOP and LEFT values for the div #inneriframe to have different images show - is this possible? Thanks Jonathan

  • firefox and javascript redirection

    - by Joe
    Hello there, I currently have a issue with firefox, where all other browser behave in the right way - even IE6! What I want to do is redirection to a subpage but leaving a history entry. There are 2 methods of rewriting the url as far as I know: window.location = "some.url"; - redirect to some.url with history entry window.location.replace("some.url"); - redirect without history entry So I have to use the first one and tested in the firebug console everthing works fine. Now there is the kind of strange part of this question: the same statement, that worked fine in the console doesn't in some jQuery callback handler: jQuery("#selector").bind("submit", function() { $.getJSON("some_cool_json", function(response) { var redirect_path = response.path; window.location = redirect_path; }); return false; }); where response_path is set correctly, I checked it! Even the redirection is working correctly, but there is no history entry created. Any ideas on that one? Would be great! ;) Cheers Joe

  • How to specify a font from javascript?

    - by Steven Lu
    I am trying to customize a view-src bookmarklet for iPad. This one is looking pretty good so far. But I want to make it just a little more readable: The Courier (New) font is a bit ugly even (especially?) on the retina display and I'd prefer any one of DejaVu Sans Mono, Monaco, Lucida Console, Bitstream Vera Sans Mono. I tried to modify the bookmarklet script by adding: pre.style.fontFamily = '"DejaVu Sans Mono", "Lucida Console", Monaco;'; It's not doing the trick. Perhaps prettyprint cancels out my fontFamily setting when it loads. Maybe I can set it at the end of the script somehow...

  • DOM and Javascript

    - by Bob Smith
    I let a user reconfigure the location of a set of rows in a table by giving them ability to move them up and down. The changes are done by swapping nodes in the DOM. After the user has moved rows around, when I do a view source, I see the HTML in the original state (before the user made any changes). Can someone explain why that is? My understanding was when we do any DOM operations, the underlying HTML will be changed as well. EDIT: Does that mean on the server side, when attempt to get the state after user's changes, I will be able to get what I need? I am using C#/ASP.NET. Could it be because this is a HTML table (not ASP.NET Server control), that it's not maintaining the state of the changes?

  • Preserving CSS styles with Javascript

    - by Eber Freitas Dias
    Hey guys, I have a web service where people can edit their pages CSS, but I have a bar on the footer of that page that I want to make consistend on every page... People are, right now, able to "remove" it with CSS and I really didn't want to go and parse the CSS to remove rules related to that bar... Is there a way to preserve the styles or re-aply them after load to keep the bar always visible? Thanks in advanced!

  • How to structure javascript callback so that function scope is maintained properly

    - by Chetan
    I'm using XMLHttpRequest, and I want to access a local variable in the success callback function. Here is the code: function getFileContents(filePath, callbackFn) { var xhr = new XMLHttpRequest(); xhr.onreadystatechange = function() { if (xhr.readyState == 4) { callbackFn(xhr.responseText); } } xhr.open("GET", chrome.extension.getURL(filePath), true); xhr.send(); } And I want to call it like this: var test = "lol"; getFileContents("hello.js", function(data) { alert(test); }); Here, test would be out of the scope of the callback function, since only the enclosing function's variables are accessible inside the callback function. What is the best way to pass test to the callback function so the alert(test); will display test correctly?

  • Proper way to format date from database using javascript/jquery

    - by Darcy
    Hi all, I am calling my database which contains a datetime datatype. The date looks like this: 2005-05-23 16:06:00.000 I would like to display this in a table when a user selects a certain item from a list. I call my controller action and return Json of all the times and put them in a table. The problem is the date is completely wrong. What is displayed is this: /Date(1255470180000)/ The date that is returned isn't even parsable (which I don't want to do anyway) so I can't even get the data if I wanted to. Any ideas?

  • Determining when scrolled to bottom of a page with Javascript

    - by chimerical
    I'm trying to determine when I've scrolled to the bottom of the page (without using any JS library), but so far, I'm a bit confused over which one of the following to use. The most promising one I've seen is window.scrollY, but even when scrolled to the bottom of the page, it never matches the value of window.innerHeight. What's the best way to do this? window.innerWidth window.innerHeight window.outerWidth window.outerHeight window.scrollX window.scrollY document.body.scrollWidth document.body.scrollHeight document.body.scrollTop document.body.scrollLeft document.body.offsetTop document.body.offsetLeft document.body.offsetWidth document.body.offsetHeight

  • Javascript: Error 'Object Required.'

    - by javascripthelp
    The following is the error popup message I get when I click "Finalize" button on my website: "Line: 298 Char: 5 Error: Object required: 'lobi_c_selected(...)' Code: 0 URL: http://10.128.23.50/i-prostage/AP/w_ap_check_reconciliation.asp?" Normally, when I click "Finalize" button, it'll generate and show a report in a popup window. However, I'd get this error message instead. For example, I can set a style to e.srcElement But, how can I later access this element to (for example) reset its style ? And how can I know at which place in the dom tree it is ? I want to be able to situate it in the whole page dump. Many thanks.

  • Finding the closest grid coordinate to the mouse onclick with javascript/jQuery

    - by Acorn
    What I'm trying to do is make a grid of invisible coordinates on the page equally spaced. I then want a <div> to be placed at whatever grid coordinate is closest to the pointer when onclick is triggered. Here's the rough idea: I have the tracking of the mouse coordinates and the placing of the <div> worked out fine. What I'm stuck with is how to approach the problem of the grid of coordinates. First of all, should I have all my coordinates in an array which I then compare my onclick coordinate to? Or seeing as my grid coordinates follow a rule, could I do something like finding out which coordinate that is a multiple of whatever my spacing is is closest to the onclick coordinate? And then, where do I start with working out which grid point coordinate is closest? What's the best way of going about it? Thanks!

  • JavaScript check field value based on variable value

    - by Nikita Sumeiko
    I have an anchor like this: <a href="#" rel="1 4 7 18 ">Anchor</a> Where 'rel' attribute values are ids of some items. Than I have a form with an input, where user should type an id and click submit button. On submit button click I need to check the value of input like this: var value = $('a').attr('rel'); if ( value == '1' || value == '4' || value == '7' || value == '18') { // however I need the line above are created dynamically based on 'value' var alert('The id exists'); return false; } else { return true; } So, the question is how to create a line below dynamically based on anchor 'rel' attribute values?! This is the line: if ( value == '1' || value == '4' || value == '7' || value == '18') {
