  hey, I have created some sample ontology in protege.According to my ontology there is a class called person and which has sub class called Student.There are some student individuals(john,paul,marry,...). I have diffiend some data property called "email" and assigned their email addresses. Following query which is resulting all the individuals in ontology.But I want to get each individual and their email address.   hi to all I have two tables employee and timecard, employee table has fields employee_id,firstname,middlename,lastname and timecard table has fields employee_id,time-in,time-out,tc_date_transaction. I want to select all employee records which have the same employee_id with timecard and date is equal with the current date. If there are no records equal with the current date then return also the records of employee even without time-in,timeout and tc_date_transaction.   Hi, Douglas Crockford seems to like the following inheritance approach: if (typeof Object.create !== 'function') { Object.create = function (o) { function F() {} F.prototype = o; return new F(); }; } newObject = Object.create(oldObject); It looks OK to me, but how does it differ from John Resig's simple inheritance approach? Basically it goes down to newObject = Object.create(oldObject); versus newObject = Object.extend(); And I am interested in theories. Implementation wise there does not seem to be much difference.

• Is wrapping new within the constructor good or bad?

  I watched John Resig's Best Practices in JavaScript Library Design presentation; one slide suggested "tweaking" the object constructor so it instantiates itself. function jQuery(str, con) { if (window === this) { return new jQuery(str, con); } // ... } With that, new jQuery("#foo") becomes jQuery("# foo"). I thought it was rather interesting, but I haven't written a constructor like that in my own code. A little later I read a post here on SO. (Sorry, I don't remember which or I'd supply a link. I will update the question if I can find it again.) One of the comments said it was bad practice to hide new from the programmer like that, but didn't go into details. My question is, it the above generally considered good, bad, or indifferent, and why?

  I would like to write my own version of Microsoft Live labs pivot.http://www.getpivot.com/ For this i will use realtime texture streaming technology like John Carmack did for doom4. But i would like to use Windows vista SetFileBandwidthReservation api to have the best throughput possible. For example // reserve bandwidth of 200 bytes/sec result = SetFileBandwidthReservation( hFile, 1000, 200, FALSE, &transferSize, &outstandingRequests ); What i dont understand is the lpTransferSize and lpNumOutstandingRequests return parameters. How should i next read the file for this to be the most worth it. Should i do exactly lpNumOutstandingRequests number of request of size lpTransferSize. Or can i do one synchronous request bigger than lpTransferSize.

  I inherited a mysql database that has a table with columns like this: object_id, property, value It holds data like this: 1,first_name,Jane 1,last_name,Doe 1,age,10 1,color,red 2,first_name,Mike 2,last_name,Smith 2,age,20 2,color,blue 3,first_name,John 3,last_name,Doe 3,age,20 3,color,red ... Basically what I want to do is treat this table as a regular table. How would I get the id numbers (or all properties) of a person who is age 20 sorted by last and than first name? So far I have: SELECT object_id FROM table WHERE property = 'age' AND value = '20' union SELECT object_id FROM table WHERE property = 'color' AND value = 'red' But I'm not sure how to go about ordering the data.   Here's a story: User A should be able to upload an image. User A should be able to set a privacy. ("Public" or "Private"). User B should not be able to access "Private" images of User A. I'm planning to user Paperclip for dealing with uploads. If I store the images under "RAILS_ROOT/public/images", anyone who could guess the name of the files might access the files. (e.g., accessing http://example.com/public/images/uploads/john/family.png ) I need to show the images using img tags, so I cannot place a file except public. How can I ensure that images of a user or group is not accessible by others?

• Graph call "/me/friends" doesn't contain names if called from a testuser

  When I log into Facebook with my account and call the Graph API with /me/friends it returns an array like this: [ {id: "6868...", name: "John Smith"}, {id: "7531...", name: "Diane Smith"}, ... ] But if I'm logged in with a Facebook testuser and do the same call I get an array like this: [ {id: "100002927..."}, {id: "100003151..."}, ... ] So I'm missing the name property. Bug? Or did I some mistake? I'm using the JS SDK, but I think that doesn't matter.

  Following problem: I need to get the position of a record in the table. Let's say I have five record in the table: Name: john doe, ID: 1 Name: jane doe, ID: 2 Name: Frankie Boy, ID: 4 Name: Johnny, ID: 9 Now, "Frankie Boy" is in the third position in the table. But How to get this information from the SQL server? I could count IDs, but they are not reliable, Frankie has the ID 4, but is in the third position because the record with the ID '3' was deleted. Is there a way? I am aware of ROW_RANK but it would be costly, because I need to select basically the whole set first before I can rank row_rank them. I am using MS SQL Server 2008 R2.

  Hi, I need to call a function from a python script and pass in parameters into it. I have a test python script which I can call and run from java using Jepp - this then adds the person. Eg Test.py import Finding from Finding import * f = Finding() f.addFinding("John", "Doe", 27) Within my Finding class I have addFinding(firstname, lastName, age) However, I wish to be able to do this from within java. Should I be using the jep.invoke() method. Does anyone have a hello world example of such a thing being done or forward me to some good examples? Does anyone have any suggestions please?   Hi all, I have a UserControl that manages a lot of editable information (like text-boxes). Now I need to make a version of this control that has a different layout (from horizontal to vertical). I can expose the control, like this: public TextBox MyText { get { return myText; } set { myText = value; } } i can now manually change the location and size, but this does not give me a visual reposition of them at design time. Is there a better way of doing this ? Thanks John

  In Excel I have a list of names that in the cell appear stacked, and I want each name in its own column. I was thinking Python may be a good way to do this? Example: Joe Smith John Hawk Mike Green Lauren Smith One cell will look exactly like that, with each name on its line within the cell but all of the names contained in the cell. I have 50 cells each with 1-20 stacked names and I want to put each name in its own cell on a given row. So, in my example all of those names would occupy the same row but each would have their own column. Any ideas?

• SSRS Multilookup Function for Names with Comma Separation

  I would like to put the following in a a multilookup drop-down in reporting services: "Smith, John", "Jones, Tim", "Kelly, Andy" The comma separating the first and last name prevents the multilookup from working correctly. I am also unable to use ticks (' or ") in reporting service to keep the separating comma from working like a multilookup comma that separates the fields I want to select from. Is there a way to keep the comma in the names while still allowing multilookup? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

  I found an updated version of John Gruber's regex for url matching in this post by user GianPac, which states it's been adapted to recognize url without protocol or the www part: (?i)\b((?:[a-z][\w-]+:(?:/{1,3}|[a-z0-9%])|www\d{0,3}[.]|[a-z0-9.-]+[.][a-z]{2,4}/?)(?:[^\s()<]+|(([^\s()<]+|(([^\s()<]+)))))(?:(([^\s()<]+|(([^\s()<]+))))|[^\s`!()[]{};:'\".,<?«»“”‘’])) Whilst this works in most cases, I found it does not match "google.com". It does match "google.comm" and "google.co.uk", so this must be a small oversight. The trouble is, I literally hate regex. It's the bane of my life. I just want to try and tweak this one more time to allow for "google.com" - can anyone throw me a pointer? I (think) it's something to do with this part of the code: +[.][a-z]{2,4}/?) ?

  I am now reading Foundations of F# by Robert Pickering and parallelly the book in progress 'Real World Functional Programming' by Tomas Petricek. My question is, what is the added value I would get from buying and reading the following books: 1) Expert F# by Don Syme and others 2) F# for Scientists by John Harrop Are those books still up to date with the current CTP version. What are things to keep notice of with respect to the recent changes in the language? Will there be reprinted updated versions? Also I want to learn more about datamining techniques with F# as a tool for this. What are good books to read next on this topic?

• Why first arg to execve() must be path to executable

  I understand that execve() and family require the first argument of its argument array to be the same as the executable that is also pointed to by its first argument. That is, in this: execve(prog, args, env); args[0] will usually be the same as prog. But I can't seem to find information as to why this is. I also understand that executables (er, at least shell scripts) always have their calling path as the first argument when running, but I would think that the shell would do the work to put it there, and execve() would just call the executable using the path given in its first argument ("prog" from above), then passing the argument array ("args" from above) as one would on the command line.... i.e., I don't call scripts on the command line with a duplicate executable path in the args list.... /bin/ls /bin/ls /home/john Can someone explain?

• Algorithm to find a measurement of similarity between lists.

  Given that I have two lists that each contain a separate subset of a common superset, is there an algorithm to give me a similarity measurement? Example: A = { John, Mary, Kate, Peter } and B = { Peter, James, Mary, Kate } How similar are these two lists? Note that I do not know all elements of the common superset. Update: I was unclear and I have probably used the word 'set' in a sloppy fashion. My apologies. Clarification: Order is of importance. If identical elements occupy the same position in the list, we have the highest similarity for that element. The similarity decreased the farther apart the identical elements are. The similarity is even lower if the element only exists in one of the lists. I could even add the extra dimension that lower indices are of greater value, so a a[1] == b[1] is worth more than a[9] == b[9], but that is mainly cause I am curious.

  I have a feature that gets installed using a WSP package, when the feature is activated, I would like the following to happen: The feature will contain a list definition. When the feature gets activated by an end user (the user physically clicks the feature activation button in site features admin) - I would like a modal dialog to appear then ask the user to provide some additional details. 3.1 The additional details will be supplying a certain number of names. For example Mary, John, Peter. Form logistics I can handle. Once the form is complete that information needs to somehow get back to the feature reciever, so that I can then take the base list definition, and use it as a template to create list instances for all the names supplied - so if user had supplied Mary and Peter, then 2 list instances will be created when this feature is activated. Is any of this possible with MOSS 2007? Thank you
