• Hibernate's version values in Grails app

  I'm looking at a database dump file, and I see many records in various tables with their version number set in values other than 0 (even 94 in one case). I understand it has to do with hibernate locking strategy, but my concern is that today is Sunday, and the site has almost no visitors so is: is this normal ? Or is there a known hibernate bug or even some programming malpractice producing this ?

  I'm looking to build a Struts 1.2.x application for Websphere, using IBM's Application Server Toolkit. Are there any plugins available for this toolkit (it is a version of Eclipse) that are known to help with this type of development? I am new to Struts so I will also be learning about the technology as I go along, but I want to make it as painless as possible. A web search has only brought up things such as "MyEclipse", which I can't use in the corporate environment.

• Application doesn't start

  Hello, I am having a rather strange problem, I deployed 2 .NET applications on my machine. Both run on v2.0. Now, while one of it works smoothly, the other one doesn't even start! Moreover, it doesn't throw any error, I couldn't see any error listings in the Event Viewer. Becoming hard to debug. On every other machine, both the exe's work perfectly fine! Any known issues?   Does cassandra replicates only on write procedure (with choosen consistency level)? Is there any auto-replicate option for absent nodes, if i want symetric data in every node? If I plug in new node to cluster there is no auto replication - how to sync data from others nodes with new one? If I want replication like multimaster (2 nodes) with slave backup (1 node) known from MySQL, what is the proper logic setup and manage that on cassandra (3 nodes)? How about two nodes?

  I'm trying to detect "Use after free()" bugs, otherwise known as "Dangling pointers". I know Valgrind can be used to detect "Use after free" bugs on the *nix platform, but what about windows? What if I don't have the source? Is there a better program than Valgrind for detecting all dangling pointers in a program? A free and open source would be preferred , but I'll use a commercial solution if it will get the job done.

• Why does Eclipse crash with Xmx, XX:MaxPermSize above certain values?

  Running Eclipse 3.5.1, JDK 1.6.0_17 on WinXP SP3 32Bit with 3.5 gigs of RAM. I'm aware of the known Eclipse best practices, still trying to figure out eclipse.ini. This will launch: -Xmx588m and this won't: -Xmx589m. Same with -XX:MaxPermSize. Anything above -XX:MaxPermSize=140m won't launch. The screen of death is simlar to this (taken from here). Any ideas on why might this be happening?

  I've known that I should use -l option for liking objects using GCC. that is gcc -o test test.c -L./ -lmy But I found that "gcc -o test2 test.c libmy.so" is working, too. When I use readelf for those two executable I can't find any difference. Then why people use -l option for linking objects? Does it have any advantage?
