  • Android Broadcast Address

    Hey, I am making a Client Server application for my Android phone. I have created a UDP Server in Python which sits and listens for connections. I can put either the server IP address in directly like 192.169.0.100 and it sends data fine. I can also put in 192.168.0.255 and it find the server on 192.169.0.100. Is it possible to get the broadcast address of the network my Android phone is connected to? I am only ever going to use this application on my Wifi network or other Wifi networks. Cheers

  • EADDRNOTAVAIL when binding 127.0.0.1 on localhost?

    I'm getting errno==49 (EADDRNOTAVAIL) when trying to UDP-bind() to 127.0.0.1:47346 running Mac OS X on a G5 (big endian PowerPC). Is there something preventing me from doing so? I've tried other addresses and ports (192.168.1.2 and port 47346) but with no success. Here's a gdb printout of my sockaddr_in: $1 = { sin_len = 0 '\0', sin_family = 2 '\002', sin_port = 47346, sin_addr = { s_addr = 3232235778 }, sin_zero = "???\000\000??" }

  • change email address format with minimal disruption

    Hello, all the email addresses in my organization are in the format [email protected]. this was started when we were a small organization. Now we have grown and need to use something a bit more professional like [email protected] how can this change be implemented with minimal disruption? We currently only use smarteremail. Could recieving ONLY with the old and replying with the new be a solution..till we wean our recipients off the old email address? Any suggestions are welcome. How will moving to exchange help in this instance? Can it be configured to automatically send out using a different address? Thanks

  • Create link on page w/ web address stored in database

    This seems like it should be easy, but I can't seem to figure it out. All of my google searches lead me to linking to databases which isn't what I want to do. I'm a complete web development newb. I've roughly followed the NerdDinner tutorial in creating my web app. One of my stored fields is a web address. On the Index and Details pages, when I display the info from my record, I want the web address to be a clickable link to the website.   • Address Book is returning old values

    Hi there, I am having a problem with the AddressBook framework. It all seems to be stemming from ABCopyRecordForUniqueId returning a record with old data. Example: I run up the program below in one terminal window - it shows the current data. I make a change through the address book UI - my program continues to show old data. I run up another instance of the same program in a new terminal window - it shows the updated data.   • Syncing with Address Book: Last modified property in ABPerson/ABRecord

    I'm syncing data from the Address Book into a Core Data database and I've nearly got it working perfectly. The only issue remaining is checking for changes and modifications on startup and reflecting the changes inside Core Data. Currently, I simply check the ID of each ABRecord and see if it is already in Core Data. Of course, this only works in the case of new contacts and not changed information inside an existing contact. One solution would be to go through each contact already in the database and check each property against the Address Book. The down side of this is that it's really slow. One method that would work is if the ABRecord had a last modified date. I could then store the date inside the Core Data database and check on startup to see if I need to update the contact. However, I can't find anything like this in the documentation. Any ideas?

    I'm using Netbeans to add a JToolbar to my window which also has a JMenuBar. Here is the design-time look: .. but during run-time I get this: With the toolbar seemingly partially hidden under the menu names. This is on the Mac, btw. Is there something stupid I've forgotten to do or some layout trick I should be using? EDIT: I'll add that the area below the toolbar is a SplitContainer.

  • Can't sign into linkedin when using a QT4 (WebKit-based) browser?

    I started using the lightweight QT4 browser for some of the time on my Mac. Most simple websites, and even quite a few AJAX-heavy web apps, work for me flawlessly, including gmail (!) However, with LinkedIn, I can't even manage to sign in. Even when I change the useragent to one of a regular browser, it keeps kicking me out. Any ideas what could be wrong and for some workaround?     How can I obtain the server IP address that was used to connect to a service? The server has multiple IP addresses and I need to know which one the client is connected to. So far I only found that OperationContext.Current.EndpointDispatcher.EndpointAddress and OperationContext.Current.Channel.LocalAddress contain the address from .config (e.g. localhost) OperationContext.Current.IncomingMessageProperties.Via contains the Url that the client used to connect to the server (but this might just be a name from the clients hosts file). EDIT - Sorry, I wasn't being clear enough: The server needs to know which of its IP addresses were used by the client. E.g. the server has the addresses 10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2. when processing the request the server service needs to know if 10.0.0.1 or 10.0.0.2 was used by the client to connect to it.

    I installed Cocoa Browser Air at home from the same installation file (for 2.4.1) that works fine at work. Its info for Mac OS X 10.6 looks OK, but there's nothing under either iPhone 3.1 or 3.2. I've installed the appropriate Documentation Sets in Xcode Preferences-Documentation, and I have an iPhone SDK, which is required to refer to iPhone DocSets. I'm using the Xcode version 3.2.2.   • How to speed up/slow down application's 'time'

    I guess I am not saying it right in the title. What I intend to do is to hook to some system api,like a time interrupt happens every amount of time (which is how every application in the operating system interprets time) and make an application's call to this api return some bigger/smaller result. So from the point view of an applicaiton, time has been speed up or slow down. I have found some application on windows doing this, can anyone gives me some pointers on how to implement this on Mac OS X?
