  I've installed Ubuntu 11.4 on my dell xps m2010 using wubi. Then booted up and could not connect to the Internet using 3three huawei e122 usb mobile broadband (I would like this to work also). I've managed to connect through a wireless network, I went to my favorite sites and was told I needed to install adobe flash player.This what I did players run and picture is good. But there is no sound! Then I've tried to play songs in Banshee, but no sound. I have checked everything in sound preferences including test speaker, there is sound. I have sigmatel sound card. • What kind of steering behaviour or logic can I use to get mobiles to surround another?

  I'm using path finding in my game to lead a mob to another player (to pursue them). This works to get them overtop of the player, but I want them to stop slightly before their destination (so picking the penultimate node works fine). However, when multiple mobs are pursuing the mobile they sometimes "stack on top of each other". What's the best way to avoid this? I don't want to treat the mobs as opaque and blocked (because they're not, you can walk through them) but I want the mobs to have some sense of structure. Example: Imagine that each snake guided itself to me and should surround "Setsuna". Notice how both snakes have chosen to prong me? This is not a strict requirement; even being slightly offset is okay. But they should "surround" Setsuna.

• Developing for Chrome App/Android?

  I have been developing for win7 mobile (XNA/silverlight and will continue to do so, love everything about it) but I wanted to branch a few of my more polished games to google app store online, and perhaps android(though not sure, as with all the different versions it makes learning/loading applications a bit tricky) What is the most versatile language to start learning from chrome apps/android: Java would be excellent for android, but could I port it to a web app for chrome? (and its close to C#) Flash would work for a web app as I can just embed it into a html page (have done actionscript before, didn't care much for the IDE though), but would it also work on android? or I guess there is always C/C++ but haven't heard much about that, though I think it works for both (though C++ does interest me) Any advice would be excellent, thanks.

  I'm having problems trying to use my Nvidia 635M in my asus N46VJ laptop. I open the "Nvidia X server settings" I get this message : "You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration file (just run nvidia-xconfig as root), and restart the X server." I open the terminal typi "sudo nvidia-xconf" and this creates a file, /etc/X11/xorg.conf After reboot I'm in a lower resolution of 640x480, without other options to change it, then open the Details system and it shows me this in the Graphic item: Intel® Ivybridge Mobile I type this in the terminal (no idea what that means, I just saw it in a forum!!!) lspci -vnn | grep '\''[030[02]]' and get this: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller [8086:0166] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GF108M [GeForce GT 635M] [10de:0de3] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) I installed bumblebee but nothings happens additionally the additional drivers shows me "no propietary Drivers are in use on this system"

• Approached to build app centered around new API and suddenly API is abandoned

  This isn't a huge deal, but I was approached by colleagues/friends to build an app using their new API. There was some potential for pecuniary gain for me depending on app usage. I spent a considerable amount of time polishing the mobile app, based on my assumption that, having been approached in a serious way, that the company would not suddenly shift focus and abandon the API. I wasn't even given so much as a heads up that the API was dead even though I had an app in production that relied on it... For the most part, building the app was a learning experience which I enjoyed, but I don't think I'd have expended all the effort if I knew that the company wasn't as serious about the API as their reaching out to me clearly indicated. How, if at all, would you react?

• Could an ontology suitably replace an RDBMS for a web app?

  I'm considering storing the content of a web app in an RDF or OWL ontology instead of an RDBMS. However, when I research ontologies they seem to always exist in the context of publicly accessible data stores serving as the backbone of the semantic web. I've never heard of them being used as the content engine behind a web app. Is it reasonable to use an ontology instead of an RDBMS for such an application? (Again, this is just for content. User data, commerce and stuff like that will stay in a database as I see no need to reinvent the wheel there.)

In our company, which consists of many teams responsible for "classic" software development, business intelligence, virtualization, hardware, etc., we are kind of a small startup because we were the first to use agile methods like Scrum and we are open to new technologies and methods. Also our team is pretty young with me being the oldest with 30 years. We would like to further raise productivity and motivation and thus are currently collecting points which make up a good developer/hacker culture and which may be improved in our team/company. Though they all follow a similar format of <meta name="" content="" /> they seem to serve a vast variety of different purposes from controlling the crawling of search engine bots, providing search engine bots with descriptions of pages, to making sure a page display correctly on a mobile device. These tags fall into so many different categories I was wondering if anyone had a wiki or master list of possible meta tags and their content.

  Since installing Ubuntu 12.10 Gnome remix I encounter systemm's unpredictable and unwanted behavior. Almost after each resume from suspend (or even after unlocking the screen after it goes blank) I get apportcheckresume error and message "Ubuntu 12.10 has encountered an internal error".Many times the system event wont resume and I need to restart it. Other times log in screen is not visible, the screen is blank and i have to write my password "in blanco". Sometimes additional thing also happens - textures get messed up and background and windows get distorted by horizontal lines Sorry I can't localize the log file for the errors.   Ive heard a lot about Daz studio, Poser, Maya, K-3d, Anim8or, Blender, and all the rest. My question is which one is the best choice in terms of simplicity and quality. price is not an issue really. I'm programming games in java for android mobile devices at the moment but i will eventually move onto larger platforms. I would like to utilize unity3d for the game programming itself and utilize a 3d modeling software just to create the game objects. I just need to know the best one to get started with from scratch or should i use a combination of multiple ones? Any insight for this would be great, thanks!

I first came to hipmunk.com through a paper presented by Oracle Fusion User Experience Advocate (or FXA) Sten Vesterli (@stenvesterli) at an Oracle Usability Advisory Board meeting in Geneva earlier in 2012. Nice! And there are lots of other powerful and edgy UX features in the solution too (Gmail calendar integration, contextual actions dialog box, and so on). What would it be like? Yes, I'm just looking for a list of product / technology names. For example, in the J2EE world, I might describe a stack that includes: J2EE 6 standard JavaServer Faces Glassfish 3 MySQL 5.1.x I'm guessing this stack includes some combination of .NET, SQL Server, ASP.NET, IIS, etc. but I am not familiar with this world. Looking for ideas on the equivalent in Microsoft-land.

  We're looking for a cheap-to-free "off the shelf" ASP.NET catalogue application, that will meet the following requirements: Support two kinds of listings: Suppliers of Services Suppliers of Products, and their Products Suppliers can be categorised by: Area of specialisation - including sub-categories Location Other data, e.g. where listing came from Versioning of supplier/product details Easy to use management interface Use masterpages so we can drop it into our existing site layout Run on a Windows 2003 server, with .NET 3.5 installed In an ideal world, the following additional requirements might be met: Suppliers can manage their own listings Other products that are available to us (that will obviously need some additional development to meet these requirements) are: Content Management System (MS) Commerce Server - bear in mind we're not selling the products/suppliers, just listing them Simple DB application.   I've got a site that should max out a 575px on the iphone and wanted to know what the best method is for defaulting the viewport to this size. Currently I am using this meta tag: <meta name="viewport" content="width=575; user-scalable=no;"> This displays some odd behavior in that it loads fully zoomed out and then, once the page is loaded, zooms in to 575. What are the best methods to ensure that my site will surely display at 575px wide in mobile browsers?
