  • Redirect to Apache default 404 page with mod_rewrite?

    Is there a way to actively serve Apache's default 404 page for a number of URLs using mod_rewrite? Not a custom error document, but a rule like RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/dirname/pagename RewriteRule -- serve 404 page ----- I guess I could build a PHP page that sends the 404 header and have mod_rewrite redirect all the URLs there but I would prefer a solution that is based on mod_rewrite only. I just had the idea of redirecting to a non-existent address: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/dirname/pagename RewriteRule .* /sflkadsölfkasdfölkasdflökasdf but that would give the user the message "/sflkadsölfkasdfölkasdflökasdf does not exist" on the error page, which looks a bit unprofessional.

  • Page not rendering until BackgroundWorker.RunWorkerAsync completes

    I have an aspx page that on a button click creates a BackgroundWorker and then calls the RunWorkerAsync method. In my aspx file I have set Async='true' but when I run the application and click the button it appears as though the page waits to refresh until the processing of the BackgroundWorker is done. How do I get control to return to the page (and have the page refresh) after the BackgroundWorker is created and started?   • Would it be simply better to use the system's functions rather than use the language?

    There are many scenarios where I've questioned PHP's performance with some of its functions, and whether I should build a complex class to handle specific things using its seemingly slow tools. For example, Complex regular expressions with sed and processing with awk would seemingly be exponential in performance rather than making PHP's regular expression and seemingly excessive functions parse and in time manage to finish it. If I were to do a lot of network tasks such as MX lookups/DIGging/retrieving simultaneously I would rather pass it via system() and let the OS handle it itself. There are simply too many functions in PHP, that are inefficient and result in slow pages or can be handled easier by the OS. What are your opinions? Do you think I should do the hard work with the OS in its own/custom functions?

    Hi all, I have 3 pages of items listed in my django application admin. After i edit one of them (lets say it is in page 2) and save my changes, i return to page 1 of my listing. How can i make it so i return to the page the item is in? I looked into some similar questions here at stackoverflow and i believe that i need to use javascript to send a httpresponse with the location header. But how i can determine the page the item is in? any help is appreciated

  • Load page for validation but do not display it to user in ASP.NET

    We have a site requiring users pay $2 to view the details of a record. We occasionally get complaints because we send them to the payment page, and once they pay it turns out the record isn't valid, or it was lost, or the data couldn't be generated. So we want to add in a check to ensure the page constructs properly before the user is required to pay for it. However, we don't want the user to have access to the page until they pay for it. Is there anything in ASP.NET 3.5 or just general web design that would allow something like this? The data on the record is real time and computed on a backend server before sent to the client. Occasionally this computation fails for whatever reason. Our alternative is to call all of the loading methods and validate the data, then redirect them to the payment page. The problem is A) this will be a relatively involved process rewriting all of these methods to return validation information, and B) it still doesn't guarentee us the page will load properly. Any thoughts?

  • Generics vs Object performance

    I'm doing practice problems from MCTS Exam 70-536 Microsft .Net Framework Application Dev Foundation, and one of the problems is to create two classes, one generic, one object type that both perform the same thing; in which a loop uses the class and iterated over thousand times. And using the timer, time the performance of both. There was another post at C# generics question that seeks the same questoion but nonone replied. Basically if in my code I run the generic class first it takes loger to process. If I run the object class first than the object class takes longer to process. The whole idea was to prove that generics perform faster. I used the original users code to save me some time. I didn't particularly see anything wrong with the code and was puzzled by the outcome. Can some one explain why the unusual results?   • Wordpress page linking

    I am trying to implement WordPress into quite a large site with a complex page structure and struggling to get normal pages to work (not created through the admin) The pages are created, but when I link to them, nothing happens... The desired url - www.website.com/dir1/dir2/dir3/page.php The actual url- www.website.com/wp-content/themes/themename/dir1/dir2/dir3/page.php The problem with linking to the latter is that it breaks the WordPress functions I don't want to have to give every page a template, then add it through the admin, it is too much work. I only need 2 pages to contain dynamic content. Am I being silly? I am really confused.

    My question is a follow-up to the issue posted here regarding the Intellisense performance issue when building a large solution in VS2008 that has many partial static classes. Since Microsoft does not seem to be addressing the issue for VS2008, I would like to know if there are other ways around the problem? Waiting for VS2010 is not an option at this time. The proposed solution in the previous post is not practical as some of the partial classes may be regenerated and this would be a maintenance headache.

I am successfully logging in (I have checked the response from my post request) but then when I try to perform a get request on the My Shows page, I am re-directed to the login page.     I'm trying to hide all panels on a page, when a button click occurs. This is on a web content form, within a master page. The contentplageholder is named: MainContent So I have: foreach (Control c in Page.Form.FindControl("MainContent").Controls) { if (c is Panel) { c.Visible = false; } } This never find any panels. The panels are within an Update Panel, and I tried foreach(Control c in updatePanel.Controls) { } and this didn't work either. I also tried : foreach(Control c in Page.Controls) { } and that didn't work either. Any idea what I'm missing here?

  • Inserting asyncronously into Oracle, any benefits?

    I am using ODP.NET for loading data into Oracle. I am bulking inserts into groups of a 1000 rows each call. Is there any performance benefits in calling my load method asynchronously? So say I want to insert 10000 rows, instead of making 10 calls synchronously I make 10 calls asynchronously. My database is using ASSM right now but otherwise plenty of freelists are used of course. The database server has several cores as well. My initial tests seem to point to a performance increase, but maybe there is something I cannot see? Potential deadlock or contention issues? Of course, there is added complexity in handling transactions and such doing my load this way.
