• grep a rar in cygwin

  Hi, I want to do grep texts files inside a rar without extracting the rar file to disk, I tried a couple of combinations with pipes however it didnt work i tried for example unrar e myrar.rar | grep mysearchedline however it actually opened it to disk, I don't want to open it to disk, I don't have enough space for it to be opened (its real big with real big logs). Thanks.

  Hi i am working on a web application where i have to encode and decode a string at the JavaScript side and ruby backend of the code. the only problem is that the escape methods for JavaScript and ruby have a small difference. in java script the " " is treated as "%20" but in ruby the " "(space) is encoded to "+". any way to work around this? another ruby method to encode a string in RAW url encode? thank you

  I'm writing a document using markdown, which I'm exporting to a PDF using pandoc. At the end of the document I need to have space for signatures on a printed copy of the PDF. I've tried to find how to draw a line with a fixed width, but so far I only got to escaping the underscore character, which doesn't feel quite right.   I have a scheduled task that is very IO intensive (deleting hundreds of thousands of files). For disk space reasons, this job has to be performed reasonably quickly. On win2k8, scheduled tasks always have a low IO priority. Raising the priority of the process did not change the IO priority. Is there any way to get a scheduled task to have a normal IO priority?

  Hi, I'm trying to get a report done and I have a small problem with the twocolums and the line numbering in listings. The text is on two columns, the listings can be on the two columns as well. If I put the number=left, the space between the columns is not sufficient and the text from the first column is written over. Is there any way to ask the listings to put the line numbers "outside" ?
