  • choose javascript variable based on element id from jquery

    - by phoffer
    I feel like this is a simple question, but I am still relatively new to javascript and jquery. I am developing a site for a touch interface that uses unordered lists and jquery .click functions to take input data. I have a section to input a m:ss time, with 3 divs, each containing a list of digits for time. I need to get the input for each column and set it as a variable. I originally designed the inputs to change form inputs, because I didn't understand javascript very much. It was easy to change the 3 hidden inputs by using div id's, but I can't figure out how to do it now with javascript variables. Here is my original jquery code... $("div#time>div>ul>li").click(function() { var id = $(this).parents(".time").attr("name"); var number = $(this).html(); $("input#"+id).val(number); }); The last line sets one of 3 hidden inputs equal to whatever was clicked. I need to make it so separate variables take the inputs, then I can manipulate those variables however I want. Here's a short snippet of the html, to have an idea of how jquery grabs it. <div id="time"> <h1>Time</h1> <div name="minute" class="time" id="t_minute"> M : <ul> The full time html is here: link text Thanks everyone! I've been using SO to answer many questions I've had, but I couldn't find something for this, so I figured I would join, since I'm sure I will have more questions along the way.

  • JQuery multiple id index with form submit

    - by RussP
    Hi folks, not sure how to do this as ID's are ment to be unique but this is a dynamically series of forms generated from a php array - based on reading the file names in a directory - with the same ID. What I need to do is identify which form so the data can be processed. Here is the form echo '<form method="post" action="" id="frmwidget">'; echo '<tr>'; echo '<td>'; echo ucfirst($comments[0]); echo '</td><td>'; echo $comments[1]; echo '</td><td align="center">'; echo '<input type="checkbox">'; echo '</td>'; echo '</td><td align="center">'; echo '<input type="checkbox">'; echo '</td>'; echo '</td><td align="center">'; echo '<input type="checkbox">'; echo '</td>'; echo '</td><td align="center">'; echo '<input type="submit" id="cmdwidgets">'; echo '</td>'; echo '</tr>'; echo '</form>'; And here is my start of the Jquery $j(document).ready(function() { $j('#cmdwidgets').live('click',function(){ alert('Your widgets will load'); I will want to Ajax the form in here .. not just an alert $j('#wall').load("admin/inc/ajax-widgets.php"); return false; }); }); Yes I know the form could be 1 form not multiples, but for this purpose it needs to be multiple forms. And yes I know the form is incomplete i.e. field names etc. Any help/suggestions please - thanks in advance

  • Dealing with Struts2 float conversion type

    - by Daniel Calderon Mori
    I have a question regarding float type conversion in Struts2. I have a form that contains a serie of normal input elements. A serie of textfields with an add button by the side of each one is included in the window. Clicking on one of this buttons has the effect of adding an input type "hidden" inside the form with the value of its correspondent textfield. That value will often be a float number that, this is very important, uses the point format (example: 1.34). The inputs created look like this: <input class="hidden_material" type="hidden" name="form[0].cantidad_formulacion" value='1.34'"> <input class="hidden_material" type="hidden" name="form[1].cantidad_formulacion" value='1.54'"> Anyway, the whole proccess is made correctly until the data is used by the server after the form submission. The numbers are present as if the point wouldn't have been placed in the number (using the example above, as 134). If a comma is used (as in 1,34), there wouldn't be a problem. But that will not be the case with the users of the system. How could I solve this problem?

  • Python script not working when run from browser directly

' + xtn_pool[i][1:]) opt = int(input('Which one would you like to replace? ')) xtn_pick = xtn_pool[opt-1] # Lists all the file with the chosen extension xtn_file_pool = [file for file in file_pool if file.endswith(xtn_pick)] print('There are {0} files with the {1} extension.'.format(len(xtn_file_pool), xtn_pick)) xtn_new = input('Input replacement extension: ') # The actual renaming process for file in xtn_file_pool: os.rename(file, file[:-len(xtn_pick)+1] + xtn_new) directly from my file browser (Nautilus), but for some reason it's not working. When I run it from terminal (python3 scriptname.py) it works fine as intended. But when I just click the script file in Nautilus, choose 'Run in Terminal', it always stops after asking 'Input replacement extension: '. How can I make this script run without using the terminal?

  • In Lua, can I easily select the Nth result without custom functions?

    - by romkyns
    Suppose I am inserting a string into a table as follows: table.insert(tbl, mystring) and that mystring is generated by replacing all occurrences of "a" with "b" in input: mystring = string.gsub(input, "a", "b") The obvious way to combine the two into one statement doesn't work, because gsub returns two results: table.insert(tbl, string.gsub(input, "a", "b")) -- error! -- (second result of gsub is passed into table.insert) which, I suppose, is the price paid for supporting multiple return values. The question is, is there a standard, built-in way to select just the first return value? When I found select I thought that was exactly what it did, but alas, it actually selects all results from N onwards, and so doesn't help in this scenario. Now I know I can define my own select as follows: function select1(n, ...) return arg[n] end table.insert(tbl, select1(1, string.gsub(input, "a", "b"))) but this doesn't look right, since I'd expect a built-in way of doing this. So, am I missing some built-in construct? If not, do Lua developers tend to use a separate variable to extract the correct argument or write their own select1 functions?

  • Code Golf: Connecting the dots

    - by ChristopheD
    Description: The input are multiple lines (terminated by a newline) which describe a 'field'. There are 'numbers' scattered across this field: the numbers always start at 1 they follow the ordering of the natural numbers: every 'next number' is incremented with 1 every number is surrounded by (at least) one whitespace on it's left and right Task: Draw lines between these numbers in their natural order (1 -> 2 -> 3 -> ...N) with the following characteristics: replace a number with a '+' character for horizontal lines: use '-' for vertical lines: use '|' going left and down or right and up: / going left and up or right and down: \ Important note: When drawing lines of type 4 and 5 you can assume that : (given points to connect with coordinates x1, y1 and x2, y2) distance(x1,x2) == distance(y1,y2). Have a look at the examples to see where you should 'attach' the lines. It is important to follow the order in which the dots are connected (newer lines can be drawn over older lines). Sample input 1 9 10 8 7 6 5 11 13 12 3 4 14 15 16 1 2 Sample output 1 /+ / | / | +/ +--+ | +\ | \ | \+ /+ | / | /+-------------+/ +---+ / | +--+ | + | +--------------------------+ Sample input 2 4 2 3 5 6 1 8 7 Sample output 2 /+ / | / | / | /+------------------+/ +--------+\ / \ +/ +--------------------------------------+ Winner: shortest solution (by code count). Input can be read via command line.

  • Jquery Mobile 1.2 Multiple Checkbox Selection Issue

    - by user1819957
    I'm coding a Jquery Mobile 1.2, Jquery 1.8.2, css, and HTML 5 based app that I need to allow the user to select multiple images and execute a command. The following works if I do NOT use the jquery.mobile-1.2.0.min.js library: CSS Code: .image-checkbox-container input[type="checkbox"]{ display: none; } .image-checkbox-container img{ border: 0; margin: 4px; } HTML: JQuery: $('.image-checkbox-container img').live('click', function(){ if(!$(this).prev('input[type="checkbox"]').prop("checked")){ $(this).prev('input[type="checkbox"]').prop("checked", true); this.style.border = '4px solid #38A'; this.style.margin = '0px'; }else{ $(this).prev('input[type="checkbox"]').prop("checked", false); this.style.border = '0'; this.style.margin = '4px'; } }); As soon as I add in the jquery.mobile-1.2.0.min.js library to the code it does not function correctly anymore. The unchecking/unselecting of the checkboxes does not work. I attempted to use the checkboxradio("refresh") but did not have any luck. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks

  • Problem reading in file written with xdr using c

    - by Inga
    I am using Ubuntu 10.4 and have two (long) C programs, one that writes a file using XDR, and one that uses this file as input. However, the second program does not manage to read in the written file. Everything looks perfectly fine, it just does not work. More spesifically it fails at the last line added here with the error message xdr_string(), which indicates that it can not read in the first line of the input file. I do no see any obvious errors. The input file is written out, have a content and I can see the right strings using stings -a -n 2 "inputfile". Anyone have any idea what is going wrong? Relevant parts of program 1 (writer): /** * create compressed XDR output stream */ output_file=open_write_pipe(output_filename); xdrstdio_create(&xdrs, output_file, XDR_ENCODE); /** * print material name */ if( xdr_string(&xdrs, &name, _POSIX_NAME_MAX) == FALSE ) xdr_err("xdr_string()"); Relevant parts of program 2 (reader): /** * open data file */ input_file=open_data_file(input_filename, "r"); if( input_file == NULL ){ ERROR(input_filename); exit(EXIT_FAILURE); } /** * create input XDR stream */ xdrstdio_create(&xdrs, input_file, XDR_DECODE); /** * read material name */ if(xdr_string(&xdrs, &name, _POSIX_NAME_MAX) == FALSE) XDR_ERR("xdr_string()");

  • int array doesnt get char values

    - by user1780004
    I am absolutely brand new at programming and im not sure how to explain what im doing here. The whole purpose of this piece is to enter values and then print them out in the same order. Now I wanna quit from entering values when pressing 'q' and so I have to scanf for chars but when I assign them back to the int array the values are not the same. Hope that makes any sense to you but in any case heres my code: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #define SIZE 5000 define flush fflush(stdin) main() { int input[SIZE] = {0},i = 0; int counter = 0; char inputs, quit; do { system("cls"); printf("Input number ('q' to quit and display numbers entered): "); flush; scanf("%c",&inputs); flush; if (inputs == 'q') quit = 'q'; else { input[i] = inputs; counter++; i++; } } while (i < SIZE && quit != 'q'); for(i = 0; i < counter; i++){ printf("%i.%i\n", i + 1, input[i]); } system("pause"); } Ive been trying to do this on my own btw and also researched some information online regarding chars but couldnt find anything that would help me. Thanks a lot in advance.

  • Adding an keyUp-event to form objects

    - by reporter
    Hello folks, I've got the issue to add a browser event to some input fields. The challenge I have to face is, that one parameter of my target function is the 'event'-variable and the second one an object. For a better understanding here some codes:The HTML object: <div id="1_dateFieldAdvanced" class="xp set"> <div id="1_dateFieldAdvanced_label" class="label">Birthday</div> <div id="1_dateFieldAdvanced_value" class="value date"> <input class="day" name="dayOfBirth" value="66" maxlength="2" type="text"> <input class="month" name="monthOfBirth" value="67" maxlength="2" type="text"> <input class="year" name="yearOfBirth" value="" maxlength="4" type="text"> </div> </div> The source code of target method is like below: function advancedDateFields(currentFieldAsObject, nextField, currentValueLength, ev){} Unfortunatly the HTML and the Javascript code is generated automatically, so I'm unable to refactore the code. My question is, how can I pass the key word 'event' and the other parameters? My tries did always fail. :-(

  • Two forms but only 1 jsp file

    - by joshft91
    Here's what I've got going on. I have one .jsp file. However, I have two forms with multiple inputs inside those forms. What is the best way to detect that one form was submitted but not the other? Please register!");</script><% } } else { %><script type="text/javascript">alert("Please enter both a username and password!");</script><% } Further down I would have something exactly like it but submitting a different form. Thanks!

  • jquery animate boxshadow

    - by mstef
    http://jsfiddle.net/mstefanko/w5aAn/877/ Below, i'm achieving the effect I wanted, but with a pending issue. Since i'm using a separate span and positioning it absolute over-top of a box with relative position. I can not access the inputs until after the animation is finished. I'm guessing the only way to alleviate this would be do something similar with just animating the border of the outer box? But nothing I was doing to animate box-shadow:inset was working. HTML <div id="wow"> <span id="pulse"></span> <input id="form-input"/> <input id="form-input"/> </div>? CSS #wow { width: 500px; height: 200px; display: inline-block; position: relative; border: 1px solid black; } #pulse { width: 100%; height: 100%; box-shadow:inset 0 0 20px #6c95c3; -moz-box-shadow:inset 0 0 10px #6c95c3; position: absolute; z-index: 20000; } JS $('#pulse').stop().animate({"opacity": 0}, "fast"); $('#pulse').effect("pulsate", { times:4 }, 500, function() { $(this).remove(); });

    I'm basically a front end designer and new to PHP and MySQL but I want a user to be able to store multiple names and there meanings in a MySQL database table named names using PHP I will dynamically create form fields with JQuery every time a user clicks on a link so a user can enter 1 to 1,000,000 different names and there meanings which will be stored in a table called names. All I want to know is how can I store multiple names and there meanings in a database and then display them back to the user for them to edit or delete using PHP MySQL? I created the MySQL table already. CREATE TABLE names ( id INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, userID INT NOT NULL, name VARCHAR(255) NOT NULL, meaning VARCHAR(255) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (id) ); Here is the HTML. <form method="post" action="index.php"> <ul> <li><label for="name">Name: </label><input type="text" name="name" id="name" /></li> <li><label for="meaning">Meaning: </label><input type="text" name="meaning" id="meaning" /></li> <li><input type="submit" name="submit" value="Save" /> <input type="hidden" name="submit" value="true" /></li> </ul> </form>

  • How to keep jquery from descending too far?

    - by Earlz
    Hello, I am having a problem with jquery going a bit too far on pattern matching of CSS classes and IDs. I have some markup that looks like this: <div id="blah"> <div class="level2"> <input type="text" /> </div> <div class="levelA"> <div class="level2"> <input type="text" value="foo"/> </div> </div> </div> <input type="text" value="bar" /> I want for the 3 inputs to say Hello Foo Bar so I have this line of jquery: $('#blah .level2 input').val('hello'); the problem now is that jquery is a bit too liberal in it's pattern matches and matches both the first and second. How can I prevent this kind of thing from happening? A live example is at http://jsbin.com/opelo3/4

  • Scientific Data processing (Graph comparison and interpretation)

    - by pinkynobrain
    Hi stackoverflow friends, I'm trying to write a program to automate one of my more boring and repetitive work tasks. I have some programming experience but none with processing or interpreting large volumes of data so I am seeking your advice (both suggestions of techniques to try and also things to read to learn more about doing this stuff). I have a piece of equipment that monitors an experiment by taking repeated samples and displays the readings on its screen as a graph. The input of experiment can be altered and one of these changes should produce a change in a section of the graph which I currently identify by eye and is what I'm looking for in the experiment. I want to automate it so that a computer looks at a set of results and spots the experiment input that causes the change. I can already extract the results from the machine. Currently they results for a run are in the form of an integer array with the index being the sample number and the corresponding value being the measurement. The overall shape of the graph will be similar for each experiment run. The change I'm looking for will be roughly the same and will occur in approximately the same place every time for the correct experiment input. Unfortunately there are a few gotchas that make this problem more difficult. There is some noise in the measuring process which mean there is some random variation in the measured values between different runs. Although the overall shape of the graph remains the same. The time the experiment takes varies slightly each run causing two effects. First, the a whole graph may be shifted slightly on the x axis relative to another run's graph. Second, individual features may appear slightly wider or narrower in different runs. In both these cases the variation isn't particularly large and you can assume that the only non random variation is caused by the correct input being found. Thank you for your time, Pinky

  • Centering form elements with left alignment

    - by user1766797
    I would like to center the elements in my form without moving the text or buttons from being aligned on the left. So it would look like this: The bottom square is supposed to be a button. I want it centered, but the <center> tag moves the text and button so they're centered to the input box. Here is my code: <form action="login.php" method="post"> <div class="aside"> <div id="center"> Username:<br> <input type="text" name="username"><br> Password:<br> <input type="password" name="passwor"><br> <input type="submit" class="button" name="submit" value="Login"><br><br> </div> </div> </form> and the css: #center{ width: 250px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; float: center; } div.aside { margin-left: 15px; margin-top: 10px; width: 250px; background: #f5f5f5; border: 1px solid #e9e9e9; line-height: 150%; } div.aside .button{ padding:3px; width: 50px; margin-top: 3px; background-color: #00A1E6; border: 1px solid #0184BC; text-decoration:none; color: #ffffff; text-align: center; -webkit-appearance: none; }

  • Applying jQuery attr value to new DOM elements (result of AJAX query)

    - by Daniel
    Hello everyone, I have a div on a page whose contents is replaced by an AJAX request when the user selects an option from a select list. When the page loads, I issue a command to disable the autocomplete feature for all of the pages text input elements: //Stop that pesky browser autocomplete $('input[type=text]').attr("autocomplete", "off"); However, when new elements appear in the div after an AJAX call, this line of code does not reference them because they were not part of the original DOM (when the page was loaded). I have tried appending the autocomplete line to the end of the post function: //AJAX Post request that changes the fields in the address div for each different country $("div#address select#country").live("change", function() { $.post("<?php print($_SERVER['PHP_SELF']); ?>", { country: $(this).val() }, function(data) { $('div#address').html(data); }, "text"); $('div#address input[type=text]').attr("autocomplete", "off"); }); But for some reason it does not work and the autocomplete pops up when text is entered into any of the address fields. As far as I am aware I cannot use .live() to select the input elements because changing an attribute is not classed as an event. So can anyone advise me how to modify the attributes of a newly created DOM element?

  • PHP session token can be used multipletimes?

    - by kornesh
    I got page A which is a normal HTML page and page which is an AJAX response page. And I want to prevent CSRF attacks by tokens. Lets say I use this method for an autocomplete form, is it possible to use same token multiple times (of course the session is only set one time) because i tired this method but the validation keep failing after the first suggestion (obviously the token has changed, somehow) page A <?php session_start(); $token = md5(uniqid(rand(), TRUE)); $_SESSION['token'] = $token; ?> <input id="token" value="<?php echo $token; ?>" type="hidden"></input> <input id="autocomplete" placeholder="Type something"></input> .... The form is autosubmitted every time theres a change using Jquery. page B <?php session_start(); if($_REQUEST['token'] == $_SESSION['token']){ echo 'Im working fine'; } ?>
