  • Is there anyway to enable MultiSelect in the StyledTextCtrl

    - by John Baker
I've noticed that the StyledTextControl (Scintilla basically) in wxWidgets has a great feature that allows multi-selections of text, just like TextMate. However wxRuby doesn't seem to have the function calls to support that feature. I'm wonder if there is a way to enable it or if there might be a way I could rewrite that wrapper to include that function. It seems strange that they would purposely omit that since they are seemingly pretty exhaustive on most functions calls. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to write an open source TextMate clone in Ruby and it's gonna be pretty hard without MultiSelect, I could probably hack something together but it'd be ugly. Thanks ahead of time.

  • How can I make a product showcase in Silverlight?

    - by John McClane
I can place a couple of buttons in Silverlight, but I'm not that experienced with the Silverlight tools and capabilities. What do you think I should use to create something like this? The control would have to pull and ID from the database and according to that place an image asociated with the record. I need it to be animated with some crispy movement. How can I achieve this?

  • Zend Framework And Parameters

    - by Randy Mayer
Hi! Is there any way how to view all sent parameters if I do not know their name? For example, I sent these parameters: id = 1 (GET) name = 'John' (GET) surname = 'Smith' (GET) Example $request = $this->getRequest(); echo $request->getParam[0]; // Will output 1 echo $request->getParam[1]; // Will output 'John' echo $request->getParam[2]; // Will output 'Smith' Thank you! (I'm not a native English speaker.)

  • jquery fadeout, load, fadein

    - by John
Hi, I am using JQuery and what I want to happen is. Div fades out using the fadeOut command. It then loads content from a url using the load command. Then once content loaded it fades back in using the fadeIn command. The code I have is: $("#myDiv").fadeOut().load('www.someurl.com').fadeIn() However this does not work. It kind of flashes then loads out then loads in. I think the problem is that the fading is happening before the load is complete. What should I do Thanks

  • Bug in XCode debugger?

    - by John Smith
I am working on an iPhone app which is using an external library for which I have the source. During debugging some of the objects are listed as 0x0 in the debugger but the app runs fine. Also, some of the objects addresses point to the wrong thing. These symbols are in the external library. The addresses are fine if I am tracing through a file actually in the external library. Does anyone have suggestions how to stop this behavior?

  • How can you prevent an individual window being captured by Print-Screen?

    - by John
I noticed a few times than when I print-screen while Media Player is running, the content is replaced with a grey rectangle. I've no idea if it's deliberate due to DRM, or some technical issue, but it struck me that being able to deliberately block screen-capture might be a useful feature in some scenarios. I am not looking to fix the problem, but replicate it! Is there some specific message each HWND gets for print-screen - does Windows do a special repaint or simply dump buffers to the clipboard? I guess I'd prefer to focus this on Win32 specifically, but as long as it's Windows-related then fine.

  • firefox displaying .swf with wrong dimensions

    - by John Leonard
I can't figure this one out. I have a flex app with fixed dimensions (950 x 700). I'm compiling the swf and using the default wrapper that flex generates. in some instances of Firefox, the dimensions are wrong. On top of that, with different domains, I get the .swf rendered with different dimensions (both wrong). Firefox 3.6.3 on one computer works fine. On another, the dimensions are off. Swf example and if you don't see a clipped swf...here are the screenshots. Rendered incorrectly on one domain And rendered in another domain with different bad dimensions. I'm at a total loss. When I embed the .swf with swfobject, I get the same issue. In the example you see, there's nothing in the app except for a single label centered on the stage.

  • Can't get custom error rendering to work in symfony 1.4

    - by hongkildong
I'm tring to customize error rendering in my form according to this example. Here is my code: if ($this['message']->hasError()) { $error_msg = '<ul>'; foreach ($this['message']->getError() as $error) $error_msg .= "<li>$error</li>"; $error_msg .= '</ul>'; } return $error_msg; but when $this['message'] has error this code returns '<ul></ul>' so it seems foreach ($this['message']->getError() as $error) causes no iterations $this['message']->getError() returns sfValidatorError object - maybe something changed in symfony 1.4 and it isn't iterable anymore... At first I thought that all magic in that example happened because of object being placed in $error by iteration implements __toString() but it seems no iterations happens at all...

  • Git ignore file for vb.net projects

    - by John C
Placing a vb.net project under git control in windows (was previously under VSS - long sad story of repository corruption, etc). How should I set up the ignore file? The exclusions I'm thinking of using are: *.exe *.pdb *.manifest *.xml *.log (is git case sensitive on windows? Should I exclude *.Log as well?) *.scc (I gather these were left over from VSS - maybe I should delete them?) Is this a sensible list? Should I be excluding directories?

  • How to detect open database connection with Hibernate / JPA?

    - by John K
I am learning JPA w/Hibernate using a Java SE 6 project. I'd simply like to be able to detect if the connection between Hibernate and my database (MS SQL Server) is open. For example, I'd like to be able to detect this, log it, and try reconnecting again in 60 seconds. This is what I thought would work but isOpen() doesn't appear to be what I want (always is true): EntityManagerFactory emf = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory("rcc", props); if (emf != null && emf.isOpen()) { EntityManager em = emf.createEntityManager(); if (em == null || !emf.isOpen()) // error connecting to database else ... This seems to me to be a simple problem, but I cannot find an answer!

  • Using Unix Process Controll Methods in Ruby

    - by John F. Miller
Ryan Tomayko touched off quite a fire storm with this post about using Unix process control commands. We should be doing more of this. A lot more of this. I'm talking about fork(2), execve(2), pipe(2), socketpair(2), select(2), kill(2), sigaction(2), and so on and so forth. These are our friends. They want so badly just to help us. I have a bit of code (a delayed_job clone for DataMapper that I think would fit right in with this, but I'm not clear on how to take advantage of the listed commands. Any Ideas on how to improve this code? def start say "*** Starting job worker #{@name}" t = Thread.new do loop do delay = Update.work_off(self) break if $exit sleep delay break if $exit end clear_locks end trap('TERM') { terminate_with t } trap('INT') { terminate_with t } trap('USR1') do say "Wakeup Signal Caught" t.run end end

  • Proxy calls across a DMZ

    - by John
We need to determine a quick way for our web application deployed in a DMZ to communicate to our SQL server that lives in the protected network. Only port 80 is open and available, and no direct SQL traffic is allowed across the firewall. So take the following simple system. A web page (default.aspx) makes a call (string GetData()) that resides in an assembly (Simple.DLL). GetData() uses ADO.NET to open a connection, execute a SQL call, retrieve the data, and return the data to the caller. However, since only port 80 is available and no SQL traffic is allowed, what could we do to accomplish our goal? I believe a .NET remoting solution would work, and I have heard of an architecture where a remoting layer proxies the call from Simple.DLL in the DMZ to another Simple.DLL that runs on the protected side. The remoting layer handles the communication between the two DLL’s. Can someone shed some light on how WCF/remoting can help us and how to get started with a solution?

  • How to decode a html string using xslt

    - by John ClearZ
I am trying to style an rss feed using xslt. I want to display an image that is stored in the tag on the feed. The problem is it is encoded to display as text on the page instead of being rendered. The following is an example of part of the string. 1). <description>&lt;img src="http&amp;#58;&amp;#47;&amp;#47;buavhw.blu.livefilestore.com&amp;#47;y1ppCokLxFJSG2cmyPdvg... I had to add extra coding to the string above to get it to appear properly here. The string below is how it appears when I paste it directly into the text box. 2). <description><img src="http&#58;&#47;&#47;buavhw.blu.livefilestore.com&#47;y1ppCokLxFJSG2cmyPdvg... If I copy and paste it again from the preview window it only then becomes the following string. 3). <description><img src="http://buavhw.blu.livefilestore.com/y1ppCokLxFJSG2cmyPdvg...

Any ideas? static public WMIProviderSample GetInstance([ManagementName("ID")] int processId) { try { Process[] processes = Process.GetProcessesByName("WMI Provider Sample"); foreach (Process process in processes) { if (process.Id == processId) { // Need to convert the process to an instance of WMIProviderSampel } } return null; } catch (ArgumentException) { return null; } }

  • Objects not loading on second request in Restkit

    - by Holger Edward Wardlow Sindbæk
I'm sending off 2 requests simultaneously with Restkit and I receive a response back from both of them, but only one of the requests receives any objects. • Does Delphi really handle dynamic classes better than static?

    - by John
Hello, I was told more than once that Delphi handles dynamic classes better than static.Thereby using the following: type Tsomeclass=class(TObject) private procedure proc1; public someint:integer; procedure proc2; end; var someclass:TSomeclass; implementation ... initialization someclass:=TSomeclass.Create; finalization someclass.Free; rather than type Tsomeclass=class private class procedure proc1; public var someint:integer; class procedure proc2; end; 90% of the classes in the project I'm working on have and need only one instance.Do I really have to use the first way for using those classes? Is it better optimized, handled by Delphi? Sorry,I have no arguments to backup this hypothesis, but I want an expert's opinion. Thanks in advance!

  • .delegate equivalent of an existing .live method in jQuery 1.4.2

    - by kim3er
I have an event handler bound to the hover event using the .live method, which is below: $(".nav li").hover(function () { $(this).addClass("hover"); }, function () { $(this).removeClass("hover"); }); It is important to note, that I require both functions within the handler to ensure synchronisation. Is it possible to rewrite the function using .delegate, as the following does not work? $(".nav").delegate("li", "hover", function () { $(this).addClass("hover"); }, function () { $(this).removeClass("hover"); }); Rich

  • Writing a simple RSpec test to check that Rake tasks are correct

    - by John Feminella
I'm trying to be diligent about checking my rake tasks with RSpec tests, but in the process of feeling my way around I seem to have hit a wall. I've got a really simple RSpec test that looks like this: # ./test/meta_spec.rb describe "Rake tasks" do require 'rake' before(:each) do @rake = Rake::Application.new @rake.load_rakefile # => Error here! Rake.application = @rake end after(:each) do Rake.application = nil end it "should have at least one RSpec test to execute" do Rake.application["specs"].spec_files.size.should > 0 end end I have a simple task called "specs" defined in ./Rakefile.rb which has an RSpec task that includes all the *_spec.rb files. If I put the @rake.load_rakefile method in, I want that Rakefile to load. But instead it just bombs out. If I comment it out, however, the test fails because the "specs" task is (understandably) not defined. Where am I going wrong?
