  • Using jQuery find string A or B and replace based on css class and ID

    - by Jason
    Using jQuery, how do you check for and replace the occurrence of stringA or stringB when it falls under a specific css class and ID? stringA = " | " stringB = "|" css = .login #bav <p id="nav"> <a href="#">oh ya</a> | <a href="#" title="Password Lost and Found"></a> </p> I have variations of this: jQuery(document).ready(function($) { $(".login #nav").replaceText( /testA|testB/gi, "fooBar" ); }); });

  • Highlight multiple rows using jQuery

    - by cf_PhillipSenn
    I'm putting together a succinct jQuery matrix because I'm having a hard time navigating around on the jQuery site, and the cheat sheets don't seem to provide me what I want either. Here's how I highlight the rows: $('.eq').hover(function() { $('.eq').toggleClass('highlight'); }); $('.is').hover(function() { $('.is').toggleClass('highlight'); }); Q: How can I write a function that says "toggle everything in the same class as what is being hovered over"? Something like: function toggle(that){ $(that.className).toggleClass('highlight'); }

  • How to only show simpleTip if certain conditions are true?

    - by Michael
    I'm working on my first jquery project and have a question regarding the simpletip plugin. I basically have a calendar where the user can click different meeting titles and the corresponding dates get shaded in with a certain color. I am then using the simpletip to display more detailed information about the meeting when the user hovers over that date. What I want is for the simpletip to only display if the cell is colored in, or "on". When the calendar is blank and no meetings are activated, I don't want all the simpletips to show. I have tried using an if statement with a .mouseover() - this works at first, when the cells are off, no simpletip. After the meeting is turned on and colored in, the first mouseover does nothing, then the second mouseover shows the simpletip, and then the simpletip remains active even after the cell is turned off. Hope this makes sense... please help! Thank you in advance

  • jQuery Photo Search Results Pagination using AJAX and JSON

    - by Mark Richman
    I have a "photo search" page that needs to present search results in a 5x5 grid of photo thumbnails. I'd like to populate this grid using the JSON results of a jQuery $.ajax() call to my ASP.NET web service. Where I'm struggling is with pagination, where clicking [First][Prev][1][2][3]...[20][21][Next][Last] will call back again via ajax and repopulate the results with the appropriate images. So I need to find a solution to both the pagination control itself and the search results. Is there a jQuery plugin for this, or something I can easily adapt for my purposes?

  • Bootstrap jquery methods Magento's prototype lib

    - by user1722527
    Wonder if anyone has had this issue. I've integrated Bootstrap nicely into a Magento theme I'm building, all good. That is, until I try using the accordian functions. There seems to be an issue with the code finding the Prototype Libs Methods instead of jQuery's. I've tried the usual fixes, $ - jQuery and no conflict but it only works when I disable the prototype lib - which obviously is not good. Anyone out there come across this and can advise me on a work round? At the moment I'm resigned to using Scriptaculous for the accordian.

  • jQuery display problem?

    - by SLAPme
    How do I hide the #changes-saved code using jQuery? For example let's say the code is displayed when the user clicks the submit button and then leaves the current web page and then returns back to the web page and the #changes-saved is no longer displayed until the submit button is clicked again. Here is the jQuery code. $(function() { $('#changes-saved').hide(); $(".save-button").click(function() { $.post($("#contact-form").attr("action"), $("#contact-form").serialize(), function(html) { $("div.contact-info-form").html(html); $('#changes-saved').append('<li>Changes saved!</li>').show().pause(1000).hide(); }); return false; // Prevent normal submit. }); });

  • jquery - clone nth row of a table?

    - by John
    I'm trying to use jquery to clone a table row everytime someone presses the add-row button. Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my code? I'm using HTML + smarty templating language in my view. Here's what my template file looks like: <table> <tr> <td>Description</td> <td>Unit</td> <td>Qty</td> <td>Total</td> <td></td> </tr> <tbody id="entries"> {foreach from=$arrItem item=i name=inv} <tr> <td> <input type="hidden" name="invoice_item_id[]" value="{$i.invoice_item_id}"/> <input type="hidden" name="assignment_id[]" value="{$i.assignment_id}" /> <input type="text" name="description[]" value="{$i.description}"/> </td> <td><input type="text" class="unit_cost" name="unit_cost[]" value="{$i.unit_cost}"/></td> <td><input type="text" class="qty" name="qty[]" value="{$i.qty}"/></td> <td><input type="text" class="cost" name="cost[]" value="{$i.cost}"/></td> <td><a href="javascript:void(0);" class="delete-invoice-item">delete</a></td> </tr> {/foreach} </tbody> <tfoot> <tr><td colspan="5"><input type="button" id="add-row" value="add row" /></td></tr> </tfoot> </table> Here's my Jquery Javascript call, which I know gets fired when I put in an alert() statement. So the problem is with me not knowing how jquery works. $('#add-row').live('click', function() {$('#entries tr:nth-child(0)').clone().appendTo('#entries');}); So what am I doing wrong?

  • I want jQuery validator to add a class to the form element's parent

    - by Eystein
    How do I use jQuery validator to add/remove a classname (e.g. validate) on the form element's parent <li> so I can style everything related to that element by only setting the one classname? The markup is <li class="validate"> <label for="product">Product of interest <abbr title="Required field">*</abbr></label> <input id="product" type="text" name="product" value="" placeholder="e.g. school bench" class="required" minlength="2"> <!-- Hidden by CSS unless parent has 'validate' class --> <label for="product" class="description">Please name a product.</label> </li> and the default jQuery is $("#commentForm").validate();

  • add parameter to links on page using jquery

    - by Priyo
    How do I add let's say something like ajax=1 to all links on my page with jquery. I will also need to check if the url has existing parameters. for example "http://mysite.com/index.php?pl=132" will have to become "http://mysite.com/index.php?pl=132&ajax=1" Also, if the link does not have any parameters, for example "http://mysite.com/index.php", it will become "http://mysite.com/index.php?ajax=1" I want to load the jquery script on document ready so all links are changed on page load. Thanks.

  • Toastr.js notifications as modal notfication

    - by Maxsteel
    I know it's not what toastr (or toast notifs in general) are meant to be used for, but I want to use them as a modal notification. My idea is following. On toast show: toastr.options.onShown = function() { //Create an overlay on the entire page} Overlay: #overlay { background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.8); z-index: 999; position: absolute; left: 0; top: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; display: none; } And on toast close: toastr.options.onHidden = function() { //make overlay go away } Also, I'm setting timeout of toast to 0 so it won't disappear by itself. Question: I want the toast notification to stay atop the overlay and not behind it as overlay will cover everything. How can I do it?

  • add navigation buttons with highlight to jQuery Cycle

    - by JJ Nold
    I am currently using jQuery cycle to display featured projects. I currently have the next and prev buttons setup, I also have four rounded buttons in between. I would like them to function as both a link to the corresponding slide as well as add a class to the button who's slide is currently active. I have the nav setup and the active class setup I just need the jQuery. You can see the code at http://jjnold.com/dev in the main slider at the top. I was thinking it's probably something like this to assign the class but I'm not sure how to link to the corresponding slide and have them work together. Any help is greatly appreciated. $('.featuredNavInt a').click(function() { $('.featuredNavInt a').removeClass('active'); $(this).addClass('active'); });

  • jQuery click listener on <object> in IE failing

    - by Steve Meisner
    $("#listView object.modal").click(function(){ // Get the ID of the clicked link: var link = $(this).closest("h2").attr("title"); var id = $(this).closest("div").attr("id"); showDialog(link, id); return false; }); This fires a modal (jQuery UI). It it working in FF, Chrome/Safari but not in IE 7/8. Is there something I'm missing here? Big Picture: We're using a swf to render custom type and there is a link in the rendered (flash) content. We're hoping to catch the link action in the jQuery listener so we don't have to extend our swf have an optional param to return false on link click. We thought we got around it, until IE testing commenced... Let me know if any more info is needed. Thanks!

  • jQuery getScript function with frames

    - by user210099
    Hello.. I'm a novice at Javascript/Jquery programming, so an apology if this is a simple/silly question. I am trying to use the jQuery .getScript() function to refresh part of an existing webpage. This webpage must be run on a local file system, and a large amount of the formatting is done using frames. Right now, there’s three main frames- a sidebar which displays possible “scopes” to choose from, a main frame which displays the majority of the contents of the webpage, and a footer frame. The main entry into the page is in an index.html file, which loads a sidebar.html, main.html, and footer.html file into each of the respective frames. In turn, the main.html has a number of javascript files which it loads, the main being a main.js, which contains numerous functions to format/process the contents for this main window. After loading this javascript file, main.html loads a few javascript files, which contain the data which is going to be displayed in the main frame. These files that are loaded have a fixed data structure, and are dependent on the functions that were loaded by the main.js file. Loading the webpage works fine now, but when a user tries to switch to another “scope”, the whole webpage is reloaded to make the switch. The only difference in the webpage is the content in the main.js frame, loaded in by a different set of .js files. Enough text, let’s look at some code. When the webpage loads, I tried to add a simple call to the getScript function in a .js file at the index.html level which handles switching scopes. This file, newFile, has different data definitions than the previously loaded oldFile.js which was loaded in the main.html file. $.getScript(/js/newFile.js); However this doesn’t work, since newFile.js depends on a parseData() function which is in main.js. If I open firebug up, parseData is not located in the dom tab, which I assume is related to some scoping issue with the main.html and main.js file existing in a different frame. I tried to do some targeting to the correct “frame” but I don’t think I understand jQuery enough to know what is happening. $(window.parent.frames[0]).getScript(/js/newFile.js); Any suggestions? If I were to type into firebug console “parseData” it can not find it: “ReferenceError: parseData is not defined” However, if I type in window.parent.frames[1].parseData, it can find the function. Sorry about all the rambling and poor understanding of javascript. Hopefully someone can provide some assistance! Thanks

    - by user1736794

  • Using JQuery Lightbox within AJAX loaded content

    - by James
    Hey. So this is probably a very noob problem but I'm not good enough to fix it. Basically... I have a gallery that I am loading into the page via AJAX. It looks simply like this: <div id="gallery"> <a href="Image1.jpg"><img src="Image1Thumb.jpg" /></a> <a href="Image2.jpg" title=""><img src="Image2Thumb.jpg" /></a> </div> But because it's being loaded in as AJAX content, JQuery/Lightbox is not working and I've no idea how can I get the script to run/recognise this newly loaded content. Thanks! [Note: The JQuery Lightbox I am using.]

  • Jquery How to use history plugin?

    - by Martijn
    In my web application I am using ajax and now I'd like the back and forward browser buttons to work. So I went looking for a jquery history plugin and found this one: http://stilbuero.de/jquery/history In my code I use a function to load a page: function loadDocument(id, doc) { $("#DocumentContent").show(); // Clear dynamic menu items $("#DynamicMenuContent").html(""); $("#PageContent").html(""); // Load document in frame $("#iframeDocument").attr("src", 'ViewDoc.aspx?id=' + id + '&doc=' + doc + ''); // Load menu items $("#DynamicMenuContent").load("ShowButtons.aspx"); } As you can see I want my pages to load within an Iframe. Can someone tell me how I can use a history plugin so that the brwoser buttons will work? I don't really care which plugin it is, as long as the browser buttons work. I prefer an easy to use plugin.

  • jQuery: Scroll the window then addClass() - how to callback

    - by carillonator
    Inside a jQuery event handler, I would like to scroll the window and then add a class to something. This is my code: $('#foo').click(function() { window.scrollTo(y); $('#bar').addClass('active'); }); $(window).scroll(function() { $('#bar').removeClass('active'); }); Notice I have another handler to remove that same class whenever the window is scrolled. The scrolling part works fine, but seems to run asynchronously, so removeClass() happens after addClass() but before the scrolling is finished. I don't know how to do this in plain javascript. I know there is a jQuery scrollTop() function that does the same thing (but seems to have cross-browser issues), but it doesn't accept a callback. What I really need is a callback to add the class after the scrolling is finished. thanks!
