    - by Jules
    I can't reproduce this on my test server no idea why this is happening, other queries / functions work.. I'm getting this warning PHP Warning: mysql_connect() [<a href='function.mysql-connect'> function.mysql-connect</a>]: Can't connect to MySQL server on '--my isps server--' (10060) in D:\domains\mydomain.com\wwwroot\p hp\_stdfuncs.php on line 191 This function and others like it are having problems (but some are ok), this is my include file... function AddPageError($PageHandle, $Requested) { global $server; global $db; global $user; global $pass; global $sDebug; $con = mysql_connect($server,$user,$pass); I have an include file which sets those variables, as I say they work on other pages and functions.. • The largest prime factor with php

    - by Tom
    So, I wrote php program to find the largest prime factor with php and I think it is quite optimal, because it loads quite fast. But there is a problem, it doesn't count very big numbers's prime factors. Here is a program: function is_even($s) { $sk_sum = 0; for($i = 1; $i <= $s; $i++) { if($s % $i == 0) { $sk_sum++; } } if($sk_sum == 2) { return true; } } $x = 600851475143; $i = 2; //x is number while($i <= $x) { if($x % $i == 0) { if(is_even($i)) { $sk = $i; $x = $x / $i; } } $i++; } echo $sk;

  • PHP: "Footer function"?

    - by Ricket
    I have a project. It has a good number of PHP files. Each of these files includes a standard header. They don't include a standard footer. Now I want to do something just before the end of every page. I can go through each page and add the footer code, but I was wondering if there is an easier way (and I think I've seen something like it before, though I might be mistaken). Is there a way to set a "hook" or "trigger" function that will be executed at the end of a page, from the included header PHP script? I'm thinking of something like set_error_handler but to handle a page close event. Or like C's atexit function.

  • Include a repetitive chunk of html with PHP?

    - by user146780
    I basically have a div on my Web Site that always has the same stuff. However, this div is not present on all pages which is why I won't use the dynamic web template. I was wondering if it was possible for PHP to get the code from a document on the server and put in into the div? Ex: div id="section... then my text file contains (p) hello (p) basically I want PHP to put it into the div when the user sees it. If theres a smarter way of acheiving this I'd be open to it aswell. Thanks

  • php/ssh2 script does not display the stdout to $stream

    - by kamal
    The following php script works for simple linux commands, like ps -ef , but when i use ./dstat -t -a , it seems to hang and i dont get the prompt back on my local machine. Kep in mind that all commands are executed over ssh on a remote host: <?php $target = time() . '_' . 'txt'; if($ssh = ssh2_connect('10.1.0.174', 22)) { if(ssh2_auth_password($ssh, 'root', 'kmoon77')) { //$stream = ssh2_exec($ssh, 'whoami'); $sCommand = 'dstat -a'; //$sCommand = 'ps -ef'; $stream = ssh2_exec($ssh, $sCommand); //$stream = ssh2_exec($ssh, 'pwd'); stream_set_blocking($stream, true); $data = ''; while($buffer = fread($stream, 4096)) { $data .= $buffer; } //fclose($stream); echo $data; // user } } ?>

  • Restricting IFRAME access in PHP

    - by m0j0
    I am creating a small web page using PHP that will be accessed as an IFRAME from a couple of sites. I'm wanting to restrict access to this site to work ONLY within the "approved" sites, and not other sites or accessed directly. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is this even possible? The PHP site will be Apache, and the sites iframing the content will probably be .NET. Just to clarify, any site can view the page, as long as it's iframe'd within an approved site. I want to block people from accessing it directly. I'm thinking cookies might be a solution, but I'm not sure.

  • Strange behaviour of mb_detect_order() in PHP

    - by termopro
    I would like to detect encoding of some text (using PHP). For that purpose i use mb_detect_encoding() function. The problem is that the function returns different results if i change the order of possible encodings with mb_detect_order() function. Consider the following example $html = <<< STR ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? STR; mb_detect_order(array('UTF-8','EUC-JP', 'SJIS', 'eucJP-win', 'SJIS-win', 'JIS', 'ISO-2022-JP','ISO-8859-1','ISO-8859-2')); $originalEncoding = mb_detect_encoding($str); die($originalEncoding); // $originalEncoding = 'UTF-8' However if you change the order of encodings in mb_detect_order() the results will be different: mb_detect_order(array('EUC-JP','UTF-8', 'SJIS', 'eucJP-win', 'SJIS-win', 'JIS', 'ISO-2022-JP','ISO-8859-1','ISO-8859-2')); die($originalEncoding); // $originalEncoding = 'EUC-JP' So my questions are: Why is that happening ? Is there a way in PHP to correctly and unambiguously detect encoding of text ?

  • Switching from php to python

    - by ts
    Hello I am trying to make a list of things which can be difficult/surprising to someone who is changing language from PHP to Python. so far i have rather short list: forget require / include, learn import (this was most difficult to me - to understand package - module - class - object hierarchy and its mapping to filesystem) you can't just upload file on server to have webpage (-mod_python, wsgi etc) learn the python way for use variable class names (new $class() vs import + getattr) / operator in python 2.x and all float-related horrors those were difficult to me, it takes few days before mind adapts a new paradigm after i found that there is few other areas which could be challenging for someone with (too) many years of php: everything is an object you have to live with exceptions array vs list, set, dictionary, tuple ... learn (effective) list comprehensions learn generators any other ideas / personal experiences ?

  • PHP MYSQL Insert Data in Arabic Language

    - by h_a86
    I am trying to insert some Arabic Language data into MySQL using PHP and an HTML form. When I insert the data in to MYSQL table, the table field represents data as مرحبا العالم. But when I access the same data with PHP and show it in my webpage, it shows the correct data. I am using: http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" meta tag in my web page to show Arabic data. My question is why my data looks like this: مرحبا العالم in MySQL table, and how should I correct it.
