    One of the most appealing features of Ext-JS is the Grid control in my opinion. I was searching for something free that does something close and have set my hopes on jQuery. I haven't found a jQuery (or other LGPL compatible) Table / Grid plugin that allows to: Reorder columns by dragging Resize columns by dragging Add or Remove columns on the fly Have a default good looking UI (subjective, but Ext-JS look I think is a concensus) In addition to the rest most grid controls have (Sort, Paging etc) Is there a free (LGPL) jQuery plugin that does the above?

  • How to attach to the jQuery Autocomplete plugin's mouse events?

    My problem is this: I need to update some text in a div with the value of what the mouse pointer is hovering over in the autocomplete drop down list. Can it be done easily, or do I have to make fundamental changes to the Autocomplete plugin? I am using the jQuery Autocomplete plugin version 1.1 by Jörn Zaefferer.   • Has anyone got the vim taglist plugin working with Scala?

    I'm having trouble getting the taglist plugin working properly with Scala. I've installed the plugin and ctags and verified that it works properly with Java and C++. I then followed the instructions on this page (minus the Lift specific instructuions), but was nothing shows up in the taglist window when I open it while editing a Scala file. Has anyone got this working and what are the proper steps? Thanks.

    Eclipse Vaadin plugin has cool autobuild feature. Just clicking "restart application" in debug console will bring up to date application version to live. Unfortunately importing maven generated vaadin project(using m2e) and copy-pasting .project buildCommands and natures from vaadin eclipse plugin generated project does not works. I'm unnable to "Run on server...", tomcat does not deploy app for unknown reason. I can see app in wtpapps folder but it still does not deploys.

    I'm looking for a jQuery lightbox plugin that has the ability to, with it's next and previous buttons, cycle through images repeatedly. Like a carousel effect. I've been using jQuery Lightbox Plugin (balupton edition) but that doesn't have the option to continue cycling through images. It reaches the last image in the array and then disables the 'next' button. So to save me some time coding, what are some plugins you can recommend?

    Our pom.xml currently contains both the build settings, as well as execution of selenium using selenium-maven-plugin. I would like to split it in to two pom files, one for the build and unit tests and the second one for executing selenium tests. (This way I could first build the project in Hudson, and after successful build execute Selenium tests using another project). Is it possible to configure maven to only execute the selenium-maven-plugin?

    The ADT plugin requires Eclipse 3.0 or 3.5. I would like to upgrade my PC from Vista to Windows 7. But Eclipse 3.5 is not compatible with Windows 7 (as of today, 5/3/2010). Eclipse 8.0 is compatible with Windows 7, but the ADT plugin requires versions 3.0 or 3.5. Any solution in sight?

  • Using jQuery and OData to Insert a Database Record

    In my previous blog entry, I explored two ways of inserting a database record using jQuery. We added a new Movie to the Movie database table by using a generic handler and by using a WCF service. In this blog entry, I want to take a brief look at how you can insert a database record using OData. Introduction to OData The Open Data Protocol (OData) was developed by Microsoft to be an open standard for communicating data across the Internet. Because the protocol is compatible with standards such as REST and JSON, the protocol is particularly well suited for Ajax. OData has undergone several name changes. It was previously referred to as Astoria and ADO.NET Data Services. OData is used by Sharepoint Server 2010, Azure Storage Services, Excel 2010, SQL Server 2008, and project code name “Dallas.” Because OData is being adopted as the public interface of so many important Microsoft technologies, it is a good protocol to learn. You can learn more about OData by visiting the following websites: http://www.odata.org http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/data/bb931106.aspx When using the .NET framework, you can easily expose database data through the OData protocol by creating a WCF Data Service. In this blog entry, I will create a WCF Data Service that exposes the Movie database table. Create the Database and Data Model The MoviesDB database is a simple database that contains the following Movies table: You need to create a data model to represent the MoviesDB database. In this blog entry, I use the ADO.NET Entity Framework to create my data model. However, WCF Data Services and OData are not tied to any particular OR/M framework such as the ADO.NET Entity Framework. For details on creating the Entity Framework data model for the MoviesDB database, see the previous blog entry. Create a WCF Data Service You create a new WCF Service by selecting the menu option Project, Add New Item and selecting the WCF Data Service item template (see Figure 1). Name the new WCF Data Service MovieService.svc. Figure 1 – Adding a WCF Data Service Listing 1 contains the default code that you get when you create a new WCF Data Service. There are two things that you need to modify. In our case, we need to replace the comment with a reference to the MoviesDBEntities class generated by the Entity Framework. Next, you need to configure the security for the WCF Data Service. By default, you cannot query or modify the movie data. We need to update the Entity Set Access Rule to enable us to insert a new database record. The Movie must be represented as JSON. Using jQuery with OData The HTML page in Listing 3 illustrates how you can use jQuery to insert a new Movie into the Movies database table using the OData protocol. Therefore, we need to include the JSON2 library to serialize the new Movie that we wish to create. The Movie is serialized by calling the JSON.stringify() method: var data = JSON.stringify(data); You can download the JSON2 library from the following website: http://www.json.org/js.html The jQuery ajax() method is called to insert the new Movie. Notice that both the contentType and dataType are set to use JSON. The jQuery ajax() method is used to perform a POST operation against the URL MovieService.svc/Movies. Because the POST payload contains a JSON representation of a new Movie, a new Movie is added to the database table of Movies. When the POST completes successfully, the insertCallback() method is called. The new Movie is passed to this method. The method simply displays the primary key of the new Movie: Summary The OData protocol (and its enabling technology named WCF Data Services) works very nicely with Ajax. By creating a WCF Data Service, you can quickly expose your database data to an Ajax application by taking advantage of open standards such as REST, JSON, and OData.   • How do I stop the m2eclipse plugin interfering with command line mvn builds?

    I use the m2eclipse plugin in Eclipse so that I can import a Maven project. The plugin reads the pom.xml and sorts out the dependencies in the projects in an Eclipse friendly way so I'm not looking at a sea of broken references and errors. I use Eclipse for code development however I usually build the projects from the command line, e.g. "mvn clean install". Unfortunately when I do this, m2eclipse detects disk activity and attempts to rebuild the workspace. This interferes with the command line build and sometimes results in a race condition. For example the command line might be in its clean phase but fails because it tries to delete a file or directory which is locked during the workspace rebuild. Aside from that workspace rebuilding is incredibly slow, and between failed builds and wasted CPU my build process is 2-3x longer than it should be. It isn't an option to not use Eclipse (e.g. to use Netbeans), or to disable m2eclipse. It is a useful plugin except for this behaviour. So my question is, how do I stop m2eclipse from rebuilding the workspace all the time? Can I invoke a manual refresh and otherwise disable this behaviour?
