• Sync Google Contacts with QuickBooks

  The RSSBus ADO.NET Providers offer an easy way to integrate with different data sources. In this article, we include a fully functional application that can be used to synchronize contacts between Google and QuickBooks. Like our QuickBooks ADO.NET Provider, the included application supports both the desktop versions of QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online Edition. Getting the Contacts Step 1: Google accounts include a number of contacts. To obtain a list of a user's Google Contacts, issue a query to the Contacts table. For example: SELECT * FROM Contacts. Step 2: QuickBooks stores contact information in multiple tables. Depending on your use case, you may want to synchronize your Google Contacts with QuickBooks Customers, Employees, Vendors, or a combination of the three. To get data from a specific table, issue a SELECT query to that table. For example: SELECT * FROM Customers Step 3: Retrieving all results from QuickBooks may take some time, depending on the size of your company file. To narrow your results, you may want to use a filter by including a WHERE clause in your query. For example: SELECT * FROM Customers WHERE (Name LIKE '%James%') AND IncludeJobs = 'FALSE' Synchronizing the Contacts Synchronizing the contacts is a simple process. Once the contacts from Google and the customers from QuickBooks are available, they can be compared and synchronized based on user preference. The sample application does this based on user input, but it is easy to create one that does the synchronization automatically. The INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE statements available in both data providers makes it easy to create, update, or delete contacts in either data source as needed. Note that this demo is built using BETA builds of the ADO.NET Provider for Google V2 and ADO.NET Provider for QuickBooks V3, and will expire in 2013.   I installed the Oracle database following the steps mentioned in this blog. Downloaded 11g express edition Created a new user oracle under the group dba. Following steps are executed using this. Unzipped oracle-xe-11.2.0-1.0.x86_64.rpm.zip and then converted the rpm to the Ubuntu package by running: sudo alien --scripts -d oracle-xe-11.2.0-1.0.x86_64.rpm Created /sbin/chkconfig file and added the entries as specified there. Created /etc/sysctl.d/60-oracle.conf and added the entries as specified in the same link as above. Running the commands: ln -s /usr/bin/awk /bin/awk mkdir /var/lock/subsys touch /var/lock/subsys/listener .deb generated in step 3: sudo dpkg --install oracle-xe_11.2.0-2_amd64.deb Left the default values as it is: sudo /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure Set the following env variables in ~/.bashrc file: export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe export ORACLE_SID=XE export NLS_LANG=`$ORACLE_HOME/bin/nls_lang.sh` export ORACLE_BASE=/u01/app/oracle export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH Running the commands: chown -R oracle:dba /var/tmp/.oracle chmod -R 755 /var/tmp/.oracle chown -R oracle:dba /tmp/.oracle chmod -R 755 /tmp/.oracle Starting Oracle Database 11g Express Edition instance: sudo service oracle-xe start sqlplus / as sysdba and got the following: SQL*Plus: Release 11.2.0.2.0 Production on Thu Jan 3 09:41:58 2013 Copyright (c) 1982, 2011, Oracle. • Connecting a Samsung Galaxy S3 in Ubuntu 13.04

  In 13.04, whenever I connect an Android device, one of three things happens: 1 . It mounts successfully (maybe once out of 3 attempts) 2 . It fails to mount with the following error message: Oops! Something went wrong. Unhandled error message: Unable to open MTP device 3 . This one occasionally happens: Unhandled error message: No such interface `org.gtk.vfs.Mount' on object at path /org/gtk/vfs/mount/1 Regardless of activity (even when successfully mounted) it will continuously spam the following error message: Unable to mount SAMSUNG_Android Unable to open MTP Device '[usb:003,00x]' where x seems to be an arbitrary number below 10 and continues counting up with each new error message until the device is unplugged. I've also just noticed that even if it mounts successfully, it unmounts after about 30 seconds and starts spamming the error message above. The Android device is unlocked, always on and fully charged. ADB seems to function normally. Any suggestions? Further info: this happens on both a stock Samsung S3 and an Xperia Arc S running a custom AOSP based ROM. I've also tried the steps outlined in this Stack Overflow answer, but the problem persists. UPDATE: After doing a dist-upgrade (May 8th 2013), the Xperia Arc S on AOSP ROM now mounts and behaves normally. The S3, however, still behaves as described above. UPDATE: After careful observation, ABD does not, in fact, behave normally. If the error message above appears while sending an app to the device, the attempt is aborted with an error message saying that the device is unavailable.

  Trying to get casperjs running on Ubuntu 12.04. After installing it when I run I get: 09:20 $ ll /usr/local/bin/casperjs lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 26 Nov 6 16:49 /usr/local/bin/casperjs -> /opt/casperjs/bin/casperjs 09:20 $ /usr/bin/env python --version Python 2.7.3 09:20 $ cat /opt/casperjs/bin/casperjs | head -4 #!/usr/bin/env python import os import sys 09:20 $ casperjs : No such file or directory 09: 22 $ python Python 2.7.3 (default, Sep 26 2013, 20:03:06) [GCC 4.6.3] on linux2 So Python is present and runnable, casperjs is pointing to the right place and it is a python script. But when I run it I get "No such file". I can fix it by changing the first line of the casperjs python file from: #!/usr/bin/env python to: #!/usr/bin/python Result: $ casperjs --version 1.1.0-DEV I managed to fix it, but I'm wondering why it didn't work with #!/usr/bin/env python, since that seems to be a normal interpreter line. Do I have something configured wrong? • How to install an init.d script in ubuntu?

  i am trying to install an init.d script, to run celery for scheduling tasks. Here is the steps i followed: copied the file celeryd and pasted it in folder /etc/init.d/ created a configuration file celeryd in folder /etc/default/ now when i tried to start it by sudo /etc/init.d/celeryd start, it throws error sudo: /etc/init.d/celeryd: command not found I googled about how to install init.d, i got this SO-question. it says to issue a uname -a and when i does i get this: Linux capsonesystem8-desktop 3.2.0-43-generic-pae #68-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 15 03:55:10 UTC 2013 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux and also it says use utils like insserv to enable init.d script so tried: insserv /etc/init.d/celeryd but it throws error insserv: command not found so i tried to install insserv sudo apt-get install insserv. but it say aleady installed: insserv is already the newest version. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 222 not upgraded. So how to install init.d script?? Any help will be appreciated. update1: when i tried: $ sh -x /etc/init.d/celeryd start it reveal some errors. may be that is why the service won’t start. update2: I cleared all the errors when i run $ sh -x /etc/init.d/celeryd start but still sudo /etc/init.d/celeryd start throws command not found error

• Oracle and Cavium to work together on Java SE 8 on 64-bit ARMv8

  We have been working for some time on a standard Oracle JDK 8 port to the upcoming introduction of 64-bit servers based on the new ARMv8 micro architecture. At ARM TechCon 2013 in Santa Clara, California, we announced a roadmap with an expected GA in 2015. This project is going very well and is ahead of schedule. We will soon be at the point where we will make binaries available outside of Oracle - first in a managed beta program with select customers/partners, and sometime during the fall of 2014 as a public early access program. Unless something changes, we are looking at a early 2015 GA. We should be able to share a detailed ramp down and GA plan by JavaOne 2014. One of the things we (obviously) need to produce a high-quality port is hardware for development and QA. We are therefore happy to announce that we will be collaborating with Cavium on this project. Cavium has been a supporter of the Java ecosystem for a long time and we have numerous joint customers running various Java versions on Cavium MIPS and ARM-based hardware. Cavium has now agreed to provide us with development hardware and engineering resources so that we can certify and optimize the initial Oracle JDK 8 release on Cavium's ThunderX hardware. This is expected to improve quality and performance of JDK 8 on ARMv8 in general, as well as on Cavium's hardware. • Applying WCAG 2.0 to Non-Web ICT: second draft published from WCAG2ICT Task Force - for public review

  Last Thursday the W3C published an updated Working Draft of Guidance on Applying WCAG 2.0 to Non-Web Information and Communications Technologies. As I noted last July when the first draft was published, the motivation for this guidance comes from the Section 508 refresh draft, and also the European Mandate 376 draft, both of which seek to apply the WCAG 2.0 level A and AA Success Criteria to non-web ICT documents and software. This second Working Draft represents a major step forward in harmonization with the December 5th, 2012 Mandate 376 draft documents, including specifically Draft EN 301549 "European accessibility requirements for public procurement of ICT products and services". This work greatly increases the likelihood of harmonization between the European and American technical standards for accessibility, for web sites and web applications, non-web documents, and non-web software. As I noted last October at the European Policy Centre event: "The Accessibility Act – Ensuring access to goods and services across the EU", and again last month at the follow-up EPC event: "Accessibility - From European challenge to global opportunity", "There isn't a 'German Macular Degernation', a 'French Cerebral Palsy', an 'American Autism Spectrum Disorder'. Disabilities are part of the human condition. They’re not unique to any one country or geography – just like ICT. Even the built environment – phones, trains and cars – is the same worldwide. The definition of ‘accessible’ should be global – and the solutions should be too. Harmonization should be global, and not just EU-wide. It doesn’t make sense for the EU to have a different definition to the US or Japan." With these latest drafts from the W3C and Mandate 376 team, we've moved a major step forward toward that goal of a global "definition of 'accessible' ICT." I strongly encourage all interested parties to read the Call for Review, and to submit comments during the current review period, which runs through 15 February 2013. • Squid 3 and Internet Explorer 11 with authentication

  Need some help. My college has up until now been running Squid 3 on Ubuntu 12.02 and now 14.04 successfully. That was till recently. Our WSUS server is dishing out updates to all our workstations of which Internet Explorer 11 is one of them. Now all of a sudden users do not need to authenticate via the squid proxy to be able to use the internet. This makes it rather difficult as I also use SARG to generate usage logs for all users each day. All our workstations also have Chrome on them, and Chrome authenticates fine via the Squid proxy. Doing a couple of Googles, I ran into and article, where someone made mention that Microsoft has deprecated digest and basic authentication from IE 11. Reason was given that Office 2013 was giving problems as it was not giving the popup screen for authentication when Office tries to download templates from the internet. I have run into this problem, but by setting those sites to not authenticate via squid fixed the problem. Has anyone else run into something similiar? Would changing to NTLM or Kereberos be a solution?

  Il 26 Giugno scorso presso l’Aula Magna della Fondazione CUOA si è tentuo il workshop “L’evoluzione dei modelli e dei sistemi di analisi e reporting direzionale”, promosso dal Club Finance CUOA con la collaborazione di Oracle .  Una recente analisi di Gartner ha evidenziato che Executives Finance ed IT hanno identificato Business Intelligence, Analytics e Performance Management come tema prioritario su cui concentrare gli investimenti “tecnologici” nel 2013 confermando, se mai qualcuno ne avesse avuto bisogno, la continua e crescente attenzione delle aziende alla propria capacità di definire, produrre e gestire informazioni funzionali all’identificazione di opportunità, alla valutazione di rischi ed impatti, alla simulazione degli effetti di operazioni ordinarie e straordinarie...in un solo concetto, informazioni funzionali alla guida dell’azienda. Questo dato è ancora più interessante se incrociato con il risultato di una survey condotta da CFO Magazine e KPMG International nella quale il 48% dei CFO intervistati ha dichiarato di ritenere i propri sistemi datati ed poco flessibili, quindi un limite, se non proprio un freno, alla loro volontà di essere agenti del cambiamento. A fronte di tutto questo, le aziende dimostrano un crescente interesse a capire cosa fare, oggi e domani, per migliorare la propria capacità di sfruttare una risorsa aziendale estremamente pregiata quale l’informazione. • How to get Autocad working with Wine?

  I am trying 3 years now installing Autocad,*3ds Max* and Revit architecture on Ubuntu with wine! Every year I am very optimistic 'cause I see the new wine versions already improved. So, now I am starting again in a clean Ubuntu installation to install Autocad 2013 with wine 1.4. I am not trying to have an answer only for me, but I want this community to try and finally we can achieve that! The winetricks have already net framework 4 to install which is the reason I have not already ran to the past Autocad. So, I would like to remove completely my windows 7 partition from my pc and go on a linux machine without loosing the powerfull architectural programms.I know all about Blender and staff so I just want you to help find a solution on that, because I know there is a solution! Maybe I will have to learn all the c++ or python etc. But I am sure that a solution can come with the help of all of us! Any suggestion about this problem will be very nice and helpfull.
